Whole Foods – I almost spent a dollar

photo.JPG As Rachel pointed out, I was looking at the old Whole Deal flyer, not the latest issue, which has the 50¢ coupon for the Clif Mojo bars...why do I always hear the unspoken dumbass?

We met up at Whole Foods this morning where in penance I whacked my head on the dairy shelf, reaching waaaaay in the back for the last couple yogurts for her…  By buying over 12 of the bars, I earned a 10% discount, which reduced the price of the kettle chips.  I was intrigued by the compostable bag.  that’s my story and I’m sticking to it…

Total OOP was 86¢, which allowed me to unload a pocketful of change.  Had I remembered to bring in bags from the car I would have saved another nickel.

Whole Foods for $4.18 – U can do it, too!

photo.JPG This trip was originally set up to grab a bunch of Cliff bars, stacking the 50¢ mfr coupons (both the Mambo Sprout printables &  6/8 S) with the $1/2 WF coupons…Unfortunately, the mfr coupons aren’t for the same variety as the WF coupons.  Oh, well.  Grabbed a few more of the Tasty Bites pouches, using the FREE coupons I picked up at Eyes to the Skies, along with 12 of the Pacific non-dairy milks (99¢ each and paid with WF $1 coupons, plus I got a 10% case discount), a cranberry-walnut bread and the Lifeway Whole Milk Kefir.  The Kefir was the only FREE coupon I got as a blogger – the rest you should be grabbing any and all coupons each time you see a display and/or food demonstration, just like I do.

more free stuff at Whole Foods – dead!

They pulled the coupon – sorry! If you already saved this as a pdf, you’re still good to go.

photo.JPGWell, the Beyond Meat people have released a June pdf coupon for FREE products!  Just grabbed these six items and will head back later in the week to stock up.  We really, really, really love Beyond Meat – their beefy crumbles are so ground beef-like it’s scary!  I put three pouches in the crock pot on Sunday morning with a sliced onion, jar of salsa verde and some spicy marinated eggplant slices.  Let it simmer all day on low and dinner was served over leftover rice.  easy-peasy cooking at its finest!

If you’re trying to save paper, I suggest printing out a couple in BIG size because big scans, smaller doesn’t.  just sayin’  And why not share these coupons with carnivore friends (or use Beyond Meat for tacos) and change their minds about meat-free meals.

New $1 Beyond Meat coupon – stack with sale & Whole Foods coupon

13280467184_08543b0e65Beyond Meat has already put out their coupons for April: $1 off all Beyond Meat Products.  Sign up for emails, because they’ll be sending out an exclusive coupon in mid-April.  Whole Foods is also going to be running a $1 sale on product from 4/2 – 4/15 so stock up on the cheap(er)…  Ibotta also has a 75¢ Whole Foods rebate.

So let’s have Barbie do some math:  I paid $5.69 a bag for the Beef-Free Crumble today.  Buy 12 (or more) and you get a 10% case discount.  If it’s on sale for $4.69 and you use the $1 mfr coupon stacked with the $1 Whole Foods coupon and buy at least 12, you’d be paying about $2.22 a bag.

The beef-free crumbles are in the freezer section, while the chicken strips are refrigerated.  Wanted to switch to less meat for some time, but frankly, I’m not a tofu kind of person (White Castles just hit the spot sometimes, kwim?) and most of the other meat-alternatives … aren’t.  Other than hamburgers, meatballs and meatloaf, I can’t think of any recipe where you couldn’t swap out Beefy or Feisty Crumbles for ground beef.

and I’m gushing about a product that they’re not even paying me to gush about.  something is very wrong in my universe.

Dead – Free Beyond Meat coupon

Here’s part of an email I received from Beyond Meat regarding my post with the freebie coupon:

“Just wanted to reach out regarding today’s free coupon you shared on your website. While this coupon was being used strictly for our online advertising initiatives and not public distribution on coupon websites (no biggie, that’s the internet for you!), it quickly reached its cap in the first few hours (CRAZY!)

The good news is that lots of new fans (including hopefully some of yours) were able to grab one and people eating Beyond Meat is never a bad thing! The bad news is that since this was not meant for public distribution, once the coupon was taken down fans on the internet were faced with that ugly “404 Page” which resulted in some confusion for visitors looking for a coupon.”

Goddess here:  I made salsa verde tacos again last night in the crock pot with Herdez sauce (no Safeway corn syrup, thankyouverymuch) and it was excellent.  FirstBorn is only punishing himself!  I’ve replaced the original link to the BeyondMeat Stores page, where you can still score a $1 coupon (exp. 4/1/14) which can be stacked with the Whole Foods coupon.  This is what I did last week when I actually paid for food.

UntitledI do NOT know why I had to learn about this from Rachel, since I signed up for all their friggin’ emails and such, but Beyond Meat has a FREE products coupon available.  As far as I know, this is still only sold at Whole Foods, but those places are getting almost as ubiquitous as Walgreens – spit and you’ll hit one!

More free Beyond Meat @ Whole Foods!

How good are these Beyond Meat products?  I paid for them last week, remember?  I have two pouches of the beef crumbles in the crock pot right now, along with one cut up onion, a can of niblets corn and two small cans of of Herdez salsa verde – read the labels on whatever brand you use ’cause my last batch used Safeway, which was made with corn syrup!  Yeah, that’s just what we want – sweet tacos – yuck!

Shopping at Whole Foods & Jewel – doing the happy dance!

Photo.jpg

One more display case of the little Tide bottles from Jewel – 36 in all. Total OOP was $1.26. Yuck, boring picture and having to pay for doing laundry is just plain wrong! We need more women in charge in this country!

Photo.jpg
You see here (’cause I’m not neat like Rachel…well I’m not neat like – oh hell, I’m a slob!) 27 bottles of yummy Suja Elements juice, a dozen cage-free, vegetarian eggs and a gallon of whole organic milk. Total OOP was $1.11.  I used this $1.50 Facebook coupon (you don’t have to like them), printed twice, click on this $1.00 off ONE Tide Ultra Stain Release Detergent even if you’ve printed it before, because you need to get to the main coupon page so you can switch zip codes to 77477 and print two more $1.50 coupons under beverages, then finally print two more $1.50 coupons on the Sujajuice.com website.  Lots of switching, but this is fantastic juice!  And now that you’re at $1 a bottle, use this $1 Whole Foods store coupon to get it for FREE and pay less tax, too!  Remember, if you buy over 12 bottles (any variety), you’ll get a 10% case discount, which accounts for the freebie milk and eggs.  Since this juice has gone on sale now a few times, I’d definitely print out the mfr coupons since they’ll be gone soon.  Also, the link to Whole Foods is for the entire list with expiration dates of May 31, 2014.

Rachel and I had stopped in earlier (she really needs to brush up on her coupon usage – – it’s embarrassing having to wait for her…) and I saw this big sign on the back endcap. Don’t know what made me snap it, ’cause I planned to return within a couple of hours, but I’m sure glad I did: The juice was rinigng up at $4.99 and the signs had been removed. Double happy-dance time! Although in all fairness, no one was other than pleasant and polite and never insisted on seeing proof of the sale.  And If’ve found this to be the case each and every time I’ve shopped there.

Head to Whole Foods with new So Delicious $1 printable

Remember this post from my WF trip earlier this week?  I was able to do so much because I had lots of the $1 insert coupons – a coupon that was not in the Chicago Tribune.  A brand new $1.00 off ONE (1) So Delicious Dairy Free Product printable has just appeared, so print as many as you can, because if it’s still on sale for $1.39, you can get a case or more for free when you stack with the $1/3 Whole Deals coupon (each case of 12 earns a 10% discount). Throw in the $15/$50 for turning over a Dominicks loyalty card and this is some serious overage we’re talking about.

Photo.jpg

Seriously! You are looking at 36 cartons of SO Delicious coconut milk yogurt and three dozen eggs…total OOP was -13¢. Yup, they paid me 13¢ for my time + groceries.

Right now Whole Foods is giving $15 off a $50 purchase when you turn in your Dominicks loyalty card.  Super easy procedure, you just turn it over to the cashier! Three cases earn the 10% case discount, used 36 $1 mfr coupons from 1/5 S paired with the $1/3 printables from the Whole Deals coupons and ended by at -13¢.  I would have had no issues with throwing another dozen eggs onto the order to bump up the total, but the supervisor insisted that it wasn’t necessary – they had to refund the 13¢ or their register would be off.

PSA: Whole Foods brand eggs

I’ve been buying Whole Foods brand cage-free eggs for some time now.  I’d say I don’t mind paying more for quality but that’s wrong on two counts:  1) I hate spending money and 2) I’m not paying more at Whole Foods!

My last shopping trip included the above-mentioned eggs, but for the first time I noticed that the shelf tags read vegetarian fed (both white & brown varieties) but the cartons had no mention of this.  I spoke with someone in dairy who was surprised and said that he was sure they were vegetarian fed and perhaps I should check online.  Which I did, but there was no mention of this at all.

So Tuesday afternoon I sent an email to WF corporate, listing my concerns and received a return phone call a short time ago.  Whole Foods contacted their distributor who checked with their supplier and the chickens are fed absolutely NO animal products at all.  And if you think that’s not important, you should read what animal by-products are fed to the cheap egg chickens…

I am not only pleased with this response, I am even more pleased with WF’s FAST response time.  A nice place to shop even if they didn’t have 157,000 food samples each week and great deals for couponers.

Whole Foods can’t afford me!

Mind you, I really didn’t have this in mind when I met Rachel over there, but since I had the coupons with me ran it this way:

Right now Whole Foods is giving $15 off a $50 purchase when you turn in your Dominicks loyalty card.  Super easy procedure, you just turn it over to the cashier!  Eggs were $2.99 a dozen; the yogurt was marked $1.99 on the shelf, but rang up at $1.25, which totally threw off my calculations.  I had originally taken only 24 cartons, but that amount didn’t even hit the $50 threshold for the Dominicks card discount, so threw in another case.
