Pick up a few bags (notice no quantities are mentioned in this post) using a combination of this week’s Walgreens 2/$6 sale price, this new $1.00 off on any 2 bags of Mars Easter chocolates and the $1/2 coupon in the new March IVC booklet.

Target, Walgreens and Walmart shopping (see, I can alphabetize!)
Target has the Ice Mountain still on sale for 50¢ per 1L bottle – coupon is out of print but I was diligent in my earlier printing! Target has Starkist Tuna Creations on temporary price cut for 99¢ each – all varieties, from what I could see, including some with no seasonings at all, for you purists. Use the $1/2 mfr coupon from 1/5 S with this $1/2 Target coupon and get ’em for free! I’ll pick up more later in the week when I stop for more water. Using my REDcard brought down my OOP to slightly over $2…for 12 bottles of water and 8 tuna pouches.
The $5 Hydroycut coupons work very well for free shakes at Walgreens but even better at Walmart where they are currently selling for $3.98! I prefer taking product over cash so grabbed a couple of bags of tater tots…’cause who doesn’t need more of those!? Only down side is that Walmart only carries the Chocolate Fudge flavor, not the vanilla one.
Don’t forget that the Mucinex allergy 5ct boxes on sale this week for $7.50 at Wags, have a $5 mfr coupon in today’s Smart Source together with a MIR. If you’re going the MIR route, you’ll need multiple receipts. Each box awards 3,000 points, so a great way to not only use up RRs from prior weeks but rebuild your points stockpile! Remember that if you use points to buy a points item, you’re SOL. In this case, I grabbed quite a few incredible clearance items for all those $1 and $2 RRs to attach to. Always check out clearance end caps – they are our best friend!
Another 50 shades of Walgreens post
Walgreens: our homeless people smell soooo nice…
Do we have even the faintest need for more deodorant? nah…Personal care items – at least the name brand ones – are received few and far between at food pantries; most people only think about donating food. We certainly don’t need any toothpaste, either, but it’s a Valentine’s Day gift for the Man Who Can Never Find Anything on a shelf, in a closet, basement stockpile or refrigerator. probably related to all your DHs, too.
Rockstar and Super Candy were just for fun purchases. I’ll head back tomorrow for more Velveeta cups and Mitchum. For Mitchum alone, buy two, use two $2 coupons plus 2,000 points, leaving 43¢ OOP – high tax, don’tchaknow. You’ll get a $4 RR.
Walgreens & I share a special moment
edit Wags: Why I’m not chasing 5,000 bonus points (you probably shouldn’t either)
While I would have liked the 5,000 bonus points for racking up $25 in Walgreens sales through today, the reality is that sites that scream “money makers” usually refer to combinations of RRs, loyalty points and smartphone APPs, neither of which will pay for your groceries (and who’s crazy enough to buy all their groceries at Walgreens) – – for that you need ca$h! Of course, all you would need to buy would be five or six packs of the Hydroxycut protein shakes or a bunch of the Velveeta cups – whatever gets you over the top and pay tax after coupons. Naturally Walgreens is running their $4.99 Hydroxy sale on a product that not all stores carry yet. I’ll stay with my two packs of chocolate shakes (go chocolate!) and Velveeta cups and try back near the end of the week. Since neither of them are RR deals (the Velveeta earned me 200 points, which is not all that!), I’ll take rain checks on both and pray for blue skies…
Given all the personal care items we get for either free or as money-makers, I can’t imagine any long-term reader being low. But….justincase, here’s a couple of things you could run if you’re really bored
EDIT: Mitchum deodorant is 2/$6. Use $2/2 from 1/12 SS (it’s a $2/1 coupon),get a $4 RR, so a $2 MM. Great for a donation item!
Snap Super Gummy candy is $1.99 with $2 RR, so FARR. I found this on a hanging cardboard display at the far end of the Valentine’s Day aisle.
Colgate toothpaste is 2/$6. Use $1.50 in 2/2 SS but this earns a double dip: $4 RR plus $1.50.(I’ve been told the 2nd RR is now dead). I happen to have a few $1 coupons from the dentist, which would require less OOP.
Nivea lip balms are B1G1 50% off. Use the $3/2 from 2/9 rp. Stuff was $3.59 at my store, so $2.38 after coupons. You score 2,000 points on each pair, but you’re still paying, right?
And don’t forget about the Beauty Wellness bonus points you automatically score (well, you have registered, haven’t you?).
Edit (math fail) Walgreens & Target – my new obsessions
If the Converse shoes look familiar, that’s because the size 6 I bought for PITA turned out to be DUDE shoes! Yep, that size 6 was a guy’s 6 or woman’s 8. While I consider myself to be extremely accepting of anyone who has even the slightest chance of making me money (well, it’s true!), I would beat FirstBorn to death with his own leg if he evinced a desire to wear these shoes.
So I trekked back to Target to see if the size 4 versions were still on the shelf. They were! I picked up four packs of GE Reveal lighting products (read: lightbulbs) for the overage (plus 25% Cartwheel) and a Heath bar (shaddup) – OOP was $1.06. Told PITA that we could wear them together and people would think we were twins...I think her reaction constitutes elder abuse.
Hydrogen peroxide is, as I’m sure you will chime in about (’cause you’re all such clever readers) is a wonderful alternative to harsh commercial cleaners. Been reading up how it works beautifully to remove bloodstains. Side note: Rachel said she was a little concerned with my sudden interest in removing blood stains – stains significant enough to require 12 bottles…but I digress…and he still lives. Google household uses for hydrogen peroxide and you’ll see what I mean. This week’s Walgreen ad has a coupon for the Well at Walgreens hydrogen peroxide – 3/$1 (limit 6). There is also a monthly sale going on for B1G1 50% off. Through the miracle of Walgreen’s registers, they are making it a true BOGO sale, so you will get 6 for $1.00 plus low tax.
Happy (shudder) cleaning…

Out and about shopping…my good deed pays off
Waited until Superbowl was well and truly underway before heading out to the stores – that nuts I am not! Stopped at Jewel to post-redeem some coupons and grab a few of their new Big Book of Savings. Nothing particularly fascinating, but since they’re store coupons and don’t expire until 2/25, they’ll have time to prove themselves. While there saw an employee about to leave – – a non-driving employee. Offered to drive him home…to Westmont (the things I do!). Since I would be driving past the 63rd St. Target on my return, decided to stop for more “stuff.”
Between my $9/2 Reveal lighting products mfr coupons, the $2 Target coupons and Cartwheel plus the slight overage on the Iams cat food, I needed overage stuff. Converse shoes were $8.98 on clearance (in PITA’s size!), I can always use more vinegar for laundry, Lay’s chips we won’t discuss and the big one…the Magic the Gathering set. Why? Look closely at the next photo.

The boxes with the “Do Not Back Stock” stickers are ringing up at $8.98, the same set without the sticker is $29 (as are all other varieties). You do the math.
Total OOP after coupons, Cartwheel and REDcard was $16.14. I’m liking this chain!
Continuing home, stopped at Wags for a few FARR items – it was like a ghost town in there – nobody to bug me!
Target, Walgreens and in between
Did one full loop from my house to Target and back – whew! Target had a stack of GE Reveal $4 mfr coupons on the shelf and the ceiling fan bulbs were $3.84 – – used the overage from the $4 and the $2 Target coupons to reduce the price paid for my six DiGiorno pizzas and Nicoderm patches (14 ct boxes); the slight overage from the Iams wet cat food helped to reduce my OOP as well. So the total for the bulbs, pizzas/Coke, Iams and Nicoderm was $80…price of one box of Nicoderm is $39.99.
While at Target, look for these Game Day Greats coupon booklets. They contain $14 in store coupons on products like Kraft cheese, Ro-Tel products… Dates are through 3/2/14. they also contain recipes.
The price of Speedstick at Walgreens (at least by me) is well over $3 – obviously not gonna help us with a BOGO sale when the BOGO coupon value is only up to $2.99. Solution? Grab the clearance varieties (check the UPC against the clearance sticker because things get messed up) which are also ringing up BOGO and you’ll end up paying high tax. I got the four here for 27¢ and earned 150 points. Looks like they’re clearing out quite a few men’s and women’s varieties.
Hope you’ve been successful in your dog and cat food stockup – I have!
Walgreens for more points accumulation
As I posted earlier in the week, even the clearance AXE products are working with the B1G1 50% off plus the 2,000 points plus the winter beauty bonus points: each set of two generated 2,150 in points for a buck OOP. I used the $2 mfr coupon from 1/26 rp2 with a $1 tearpad coupon (if you don’t see the tearpads, ask a beauty advisor). I ran these as separate transactions because I had only ten of the $2 coupons and the register didn’t like the other $1 coupons I tried to use (coupon wording has limits – pah) – their registers are getting meaner and meaner! OOP was slightly over $10 and I earned 21,500 points. Cashier asked what I was planning to do with it all. I could honestly say I had no idea…
The Suave shampoo was free with a $1 coupon from the February All You.
