Walgreens updates

Haven’t forgotten about the Motrin PM and Lumene deals; there have been lots of behind-the-scenes phone calls and meetings, trust me.  This is where we stand at present:

The Lumene that was supposedly shipped out over a week ago never was.  Lumene sales rep said that not all the product for the order was available, so it wasn’t shipped out until it was complete.  Complete order was shipped yesterday on UPS, so probably Friday am delivery.  And yes, a truly competent and aggressive sale rep would have been on this like lint on a cheap suit.

Motrin PM did not generate the $3 RR (as reported earlier), so Wheaton called Catalina Marketing first thing Monday morning; they were going to set it up to run first thing this morning.  You can see where this is going, right?  Wheaton calls Catalina Marketing this am and asks why no RRs?  Catalina has no record of the promotion and wants all the paperwork faxed over, which Wheaton does.   As far as I know, this should be up and running by Wednesday morning.

This is what happens when they allow Steve to take time off.

Wags

Heads up on the Kellogg’s buy 4 for $10 get $5 in Register Rewards promotion going on right now.   The Cars2 boxes are still available at many Walgreens stores.  Buy 4 and enter the codes to score a $5 gift card towards concession chow.  Unfortunately, there are no coupons out there to make this a MM, but if you yearn for “buttery flavored” popcorn while watching your movies, at least you can do it on the cheap.

Wags and Cottonelle

Lisle Wags got a ton of Cottonnelle in, but most of it has already been sold (you would not believe what this costs after employee discounts…), but they have probably another 40 packs available.  If you are shopping Lisle, make sure to hit them BEFORE 3, which is when Jackie leaves and the other one starts.

Motrin PM Update

OK, there is something wonky going on with the Motrin PM deal – the RR isn’t printing.  Wheaton is well-aware of this SNAFU and will be contacting Catalina Marketing early Monday morning to straighten it out.  Wheaton wishes to advise everyone that they will be extending the days they accept the coupon (well, they were already going to, right?), so don’t try it ’cause it won’t work.  And don’t look for the RR info in your ad…  I will post immediately when they’ve straightened this out.

This sucks ’cause I wanted to roll the Motrin PM RR into the Cottonelle purchase (throwing in those little .17 clearance eyeliners by cosmetics).  Now, boo.  Is it my imagination or have we been getting dumped on more often than previously?  At least we’ll be able to spend our RRs at Jewel on groceries ’cause they haven’t had any deals for free food lately!

Cottonelle for $1.50/12 pack – update

Don’t forget about this one-day only deal.  Start clipping your coupons now.  Wheaton was only able to get about 60 of these packs in – warehouse shorted them.

Walgreens will have a ONE DAY ONLY deal on the 12-pack of Cottonelle.

Remember that national catalina promotion where only the incredibly old UPCs were generating the cats?  They’ve fixed that problem and entered the new packages.  On July 31st the new August IVC booklet starts;  there is a $1/1 coupon which stacks with the .75/1 from 7/17 s.  Buy 2 and you will get a $3.50 Register Reward and buy 3 to get $4.50 back.

Best bet? Buy 2, pay $6.50 OOP and get back $3.50 – so $1.50 for each pack of 12!

Heads up on Scotch Glue Sticks

Wheaton asked me to post that they just received (today)a couple of hundred of the FREE with coupon glue sticks and scotch tape.  They have taped the coupons to the products, so no need to waste paper and ink!  Awesome store and awesome staff, right?

Wags and Jewel and cvs (pah)

Hit up the Wags in Lisle for a few more Trident Vitalitys.  Threw in a clearance eyeliner (.17) and used one of the $3 Crest RRs, so my OOP was only $1.52.

Decided to drive across the street to Jewel to pick up just a few (YES – JUST A FEW) of those Chiquita Bites, because they are so very, very tasty!  I’ve got a special order of 50 coming in, so want enough to tide us over.  I usually like my pineapple with little umbrellas, but hey, the natural stuff ain’t bad at all.  What’s better than Trident Vitality at .79 with a $2/3 coupon?  Trident Vitality on clearance for .50!  woot!!!  Used the overage to pay for my Almond Roca, also on clearance.  PITA also picked up Free cats for eggs and potato chips.

Note on Jewel clearance items:  Not all items will be reduced at the same time or even for the same amount.  While the Almond Roca was priced at $2.50 and the Trident .50, your store may have higher or lower prices or maybe not even have them on sale at all.

CVS – why do i even bother…

CVS and Wags

My life is just a whirlwind of activity today!  First stop was CVS, because I had read that the Magic Coupon Machine was spitting out $2 coupons off shampoo.  VO5 is .89 (free hand soap) so you could pick up a couple for free.  HA! I say!  repeat…Tried a couple of cards (oh, don’t act like you only have one card) and gave up.  However, the second card spit out a $5 ecb because apparently all the little Lumene jars I’ve been “buying” have reached a $50 threshold.   At that point I decided to see what was not on the shelves.  They did have a couple of the .5 Freeze Time Lumene jars, but I’m not a big fan of this one.  A friend had raved about their cleansing wipes for removing makeup, especially the 10 ct packs because she could throw them in her bag when traveling.  so i took them all and if she wants any more in the Chicagoland area, she’s gonna have to shop my basement!  bwahahahahah. Wipes are $3.19, so used the overage, plus the $5 ecb plus another coupon to pay for the regular size of the Lumene Vitamin C cream and ended up paying $2.22 – and then got a $5 rewards for buying the Lumene!  I was not lying about this stuff.  It’s great and I will be hitting them hard and heavy.

Then off to Wags (not one of my usuals) for the Trident Vitality gum:  24 of them.  While I don’t like paying for gum in any amount, we go through a lot in this house o’ cud.  Total came to $4.33, of which 1.37 was tax.  Since the coupon is worded buy 3 get $X off, I was unable to use any of my RRs from Crest since each coupon was already attached to an item and I would have had to buy something additional.  Sometimes it’s a toss-up, but in this case I just spent the cash.

Wags

Just checked with the local Wags and they are offering two flavors of Trident Vitality gum for .79:  green (mint & white tea) and orange (citrus & strawberry).  Use the $2/3 coupon in the 7/24 S and you will only pay .37 for all three.  Run them all in one transaction – easy peasy!

Jewel – Lisle

Really needed dog food, so back to Jewel PITA and I headed.  While there we picked up 12 of the Chiquita bites (apple w/ caramel dip and pineapple spears) and a couple of Asiago bagels (had a $1 off bakery store cat).  Total after coupons was $15.20 – yikes!  I paid using $14 in Register Rewards and $1.20 in the green stuff.  Yeah, that’s right, I picked up another 18 Crest toothpastes at Wheaton, so lots of RRs.

This is what I mean about not knowing when a deal is gonna hit.  The weeks down the road look dead and then bam!  Until someone actually bought the Crest toothpaste this morning at Walgreens, we didn’t know for certain that two cats would be generated.  Although I know that you can buy the regular tubes of Crest at Jewel and have a small moneymaker, I think these ones are much better – well, they’re usually much more expensive, anyway!

oh, and credit goes to MUM for her link to the Chiquita FB page.
