Jewel clearance cart – baking supplies

On the clearance cart at Jewel today there was a ton of baking items, including cookie, brownie and pie mixes and cans of frosting. I took eight of the Krusteaz chocolate chip cookie mixes at $1.25 – after first checking my Find a Coupon Tab.  It showed a $1 Smart Souce IP, so I’ll return with coupons and receipt and get cash back.  Paying 25¢ isn’t too shabby…

Free Baileys at Jewel starting Thursday!

For those of you addicted to coffee creamer, here’s a sweet (sorry) deal at Jewel starting Thursday:  Bailey’s creamers (currently $2.18) will be on sale for 2/$3.  There is a $1 coupon in the 11/18 S and there have been lots and lots of tearpads and blinkies near the product over the past few weeks.  Buy two for $1 after coupons and magically enough, a $1 OYNO cat prints out as part of Jewel’s the More You Shop the More You Save catalina promotion.

According to Rachel, who got the ad in Monday’s mail, these are unlimited.  Meaning that if the deal says you’ll get $1 OYNO for every two bottles you buy, your 100 bottles will generate 50 $1 cats (WHAT?  They freeze very well).  Lots of other participating products in the sale, most pah prices, but it’s good to know that you can combine them all into one transaction – makes the cashier put down the voodoo doll.

Check your Jewel for Bob Evans sides clearance

While shopping Jewel for my free sour cream (and expensive Oberweiss egg nog!), I saw a huge display full of these Bob Evans mashed sweet potatoes with a $2 off manager’s special peelie. Since they are on sale 2/$6, that made them very sweet indeed. I was planning on going back with my receipt and the 35¢ coupon from 11/18 s, but when I opened the cardboard sleeve – there was a 50¢ peelie!  So we’re talking about 18 oz of sweet potatoes mashed with butter and cream for only 50¢ a package!  I only took six, but will go back tomorrow.  Expiration date is 12/24, but they freeze very well.  Taste is pure sweet potato, with very little added sugar – this is definitely not a dessert dish!

Shopping for free @ Jewel

If you’re like me (and I’m truly sorry for you, in that case), you only buy sour cream when it’s free – ’cause it happens at least once a year.  Mind you, frozen sour cream doesn’t have the same consistency as the unfrozen ones, but if you buy cartons with long expiration dates for present use and keep the frozen ones for baking and sauces, you’ll be fine. I’ve used thawed sour cream in stroganoff and coffee cakes to great advantage over the years – your family/company will never know.

This week Jewel has those Save $5 instantly when you buy 10 items promotions, most of which are completely lame.  The ONLY thing I like is the Breakstone sour cream which drops to 99¢ when you buy ten.  Use a combination of the $1 IP on Coupons.com (2 limit per computer) and the 55¢ coupon in the 12/9 S.  Obviously you want as many of the IPs as you can print!

Note that the $1 is NOT a national coupon, which means I can’t direct link.  Switch your zip code to 19606, 62946 or 77477 and check the food category for the $1 Breakstone or Knudsen sour cream.  Unfortunately, it could be on either page two or three – keep hunting.

However…..I also have a soft spot (and large gut) for the Rhodes warm-n-serve rolls, which are part of the promo – $1.99 after the instant savings.  Use the $1 coupons (2 per insert) from the 11/11 rp.  There were also $1/2 coupons in the 12/09 rp.

Greetings from Twinkieland – DO NOT USE THE VALLI COUPON!!!!!

UPDATE:  After some serious brainstorming with Rachel,  we are agreed that the Valli coupon is not a manufacturer coupon, but a mis-labeled store coupon.  Note that there is no remittance address, nor any legitimate bar code at all – the only bar code conforms to the PLU number (which is store-specific).  Had Valli been part of the Super-valu chain, instead of just being supplied by the Super-valu warehouse, then that PLU would have been accepted by the Jewel register, right?  I noticed these things right away, but honestly believed that this coupon was more in the line of the Walgreens IVC ones, where the information is electronically transmitted to the manufacturer (a quasi-mfr coupon as it were).

Bottom line is:  Do not use this coupon, because your Jewel will most assuredly not get reimbursed and you will be remembered (and no, don’t go to strange Jewels just for this deal!)  This leaves us paying $1.20 a package, which is still much lower than the current sale price.  Sorry about all this – I bought 5 myself…

otherwise known as Jewel, where stores are awaiting their shipment of Hostess products.  The Lisle Jewel is getting orange cupcakes and Twinkies, other stores (I believe) are getting Zingers.  ugh, and I don’t care if you’re gonna sell ’em or what.  Lots of folks hanging around the back of the store, looking like vagrants.

Nationwide catalina for the Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh products:  Buy five and get $4 mfr catalina.  Only exceptional because Jewel has these on sale 2/$4 through tomorrow the 12th.  Even more exceptional when you get your hands on the Valli Produce ad starting tomorrow the 12th, which has a $5 off FIVE participating OM products…including Deli Fresh!  valli_ad  Note:  You’ll need to get your hands on an actual sales ad, since even my über coupon-friendly store won’t accept this print-out from the computer.  Since you can post-redeem coupons at Jewel for 60 days from the date of purchase (even if the coupons have expired in the meantime), stock up on this great price and return when you get your hands on the ads.  Even if Valli is low on ads, you can still hit them up anytime during the week – all you need is one ad for every five packs you buy.  If you plan a sizable purchase (I’m picking up “a few” for the food pantry), make sure you pay for your special order when placing it, so you don’t miss out, rain checks won’t work.  Lisle will be getting in a bunch extra tomorrow, but justincase…

This promo doesn’t stack, but it does roll, so run in sets of five, using the $4 cat from the prior transaction to reduce the cost of the current one.  Also, keep your eyes open for these Bob Evans prepared casserole dishes – Lisle had a bunch of them with $2 reduced to sell stickers on them and they’re only $3.09 to start with.  Before you say anything about being too lazy to make my own (well, you’re right about that), I had a $$/$$ store cat, so they were effectively free.  And you’re looking at dinner, folks…admitted i was lazy, okay?

credit, love, acknowledgement, etc. to MUM (she makes me put this in)

Jewel – Nivea double dip is still running & new gift card promo

If you’re anywhere near a Jewel/Osco, try to work in the Nivea lip care promotion – you’ll make a little $$ and you’ll have wonderful stocking stuffers – but even more importantly, you’ll have an incredible donation for your local food pantry.  Winter is coming and most pantries get food donations, but rarely things like Nivea.

Here’s the deal again for those who missed it the first time:   The Nivea lip care B2G1 is also generating TWO $5 store OYNO cats: 1 for the Spend $20  (Jewel) and one for the Spend $15 (Albertsons).  Run it in multiples of 12 ($2.99 x 8 = $25.65), hand over 6 $3/2 coupons from the 12/2 red plum and get back two $5 store cats after shelling out $5.92 and tax.  Second and subsequent transactions use the mfr AND one $5 store cat to bring your total down to 92¢ and tax.  Remember, Jewel registers don’t like to attach coupons to free items, so the cashier will have to manually enter the coupon value – it’s Jewel policy, but no one’s told the registers.

Newest Jewel gift card promotion is for the gift card mall:  Buy $100 in gift cards and get a $10 catalina.  There are only a few cards included this go-round, and frankly, most of them suck donkey balls.  Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, Spa Finder, Nike Store and Amazon.  Obviously Amazon is hands down the winner here!  Although it’s pretty crummy that you only get a $10 catalina instead of $20 like the last gift card promotion…

Jewel – it’s raining (store) cats & no dogs – updated with prices

I’ve had emails that I didn’t include prices for the Nivea – sorry.  Each product was $2.99, so buy 12, pay for 8 (’cause 4 are free) and you’re at $23.92 less the coupons.

Today was a banner day for deals at Jewel. The Nivea lip care B2G1 is also generating TWO $5 store OYNO cats: 1 for the Spend $20 and one for the Spend $15. Run it in multiples of 12, hand over 6 of the $3/2 coupons from the 12/2 red plum and get back two $5 store cats.  Remember that the Jewel registers don’t like to attach coupons to the free items, so the cashier will have to manually enter the coupon value – it’s the Jewel policy, but no one’s told the registers.

You will end up spending less than $6 to get back $10.  And I was able to add all the items pictured in three transactions using the various store cats that PITA “found” (paper napkins, dish soap, plastic bags, toilet paper, $3 off $15 purchase, $2 off $7 in beauty products).  Each one of the transactions came to roughly $7.00.

These Niveas would make very nice stocking stuffers or donation items.

Jewel for cheap cookies

Keep your eyes open for clearances on Thanksgiving-related products. I found these sugar cookies reduced to 50¢ a pack. No insert coupons (only saw Pillsbury blinkies), but you can always return within 60 days if coupons appear. Remember, that same Jewel coupon policy update that removed Register Rewards as a form of payment (remember that store, Walgreens? whatever happened to them…) gave us the ability to use coupon values higher than the product purchased to reduce the cost of other items in our order. No cash back like Walmart, but it still works for me.  Click here to review their current policy JEWEL COUPON POLICY 6/2012. It’s a pdf, so download and carry with you, if you sometimes have “issues” with a store.

Jewel 10/15

6 jars of Ragu, 4 bags of Rhodes rolls, 2 rolls Bounty Basic, 2 Palmolive dish soap, 2 5lb bags red potatoes, 1 Ocean Spray fresh cranberries, 1 box EE plastic bags, 2 Birds Eye broccoli Steam Fresh.  We used the Ragu coupons from the Centrella ad, the cranberries had both an Ocean Spray $1 (from Facebook) and a $1 store coupon from Jewel email, the potatoes had two $1 email store coupons, no coupon on the broccoli (sale for a buck each) and the rest?  PITA found a bunch of those store cats for dish soap, paper towels, plastic bags, produce and $3/$30.  OOP was $8.61.

Note:  The Centrella ad also has a great $2 off coupon for Coke products.  I think Jewel has the best prices around without coupons, so take it in and get an even better deal.   The Pepsi mfr coupon right about the Coke coupon doesn’t scan and has no amount printed on it, so good luck using it anywhere.  well, except maybe a Centrella store…

cheap Ragu @ Jewel

Shame that those catalina promotions of days gone by have ruined me for pasta sauce that’s merely cheap, but so it is…However, if you need to stock up on a few things, I’d hit up the Jewel, with the Save $5 Instantly promotion starting tomorrow, November 15.  Ragu is 99¢ after the 50¢ instant savings…but you want to get your hands on the Centrella sales ads, which contain a $1/2 Ragu mfr coupon (Pete’s Fresh Market and Garden Fresh Market are both Centrella stores).

The other thing I’ll probably buy with the Ragu is the Rhodes Warm-N-Serv rolls for $2.49 less the 50¢ because there are lots of $1 coupons out there:  10/14 r and 11/11 r (use both the rolls and the specific Warm-N-Serv coupons).  Brings the cost down to 99¢ a package, a great price.  These are very tasty rolls.  Let’s be honest here:  I don’t like paying 99¢, but I would like paying $2.49 or $1.99 even less!

Betty Crocker Specialty Potatoes are 99¢ after the savings – there’s a $3/4 coupon in the 11/4 s, which should work because I think it’s the boxes on sale.  This would give you .24¢ potatoes.  No, it wouldn’t!  The coupon from 10/07 GM is for .50/2, so 75¢ a box.  well, still better than a sharp stick in the eye…

The Knorr Homestyle Stock is $2.49, so toss in the $1 coupon from 11/11 rp.  I got tons of these for free with a coupon on a Dominicks’ clearance rack some time ago – they are a very easy way to flavor gravies or soups.

That’s what I see as the best for stock-ups.  If you see anything additional, please comment.  Until the stars align properly once again, we’ll do large quantity stock-ups and just shop our stockpiles.
