Dominicks 75% off meat & dairy!

While I personally don’t think the meat is anything to run out for (’cause it’s always clearanced at Jewel and other stores), I’m stocking up on organic milk, which is never, ever this cheap.  And it freezes so well (along with the vast amounts of cheese I’m getting).

Thank the Gods for friends, because this flu still has me confined to the house, although I am currently out of bed – who knows for how long?  At least the body-shaking coughs have stopped.

Dominicks is restocking!

Photo1.jpg

Check your local Dominicks on a regular basis because they are restocking to clear the warehouse.  I have another pile behind me on the dining room table!  Picked up 21 or 22 bags of dark roast Starbucks for Rachel, along with all the gluten-free Van’s pancakes they had.  Lots more of the SB medium and blonde coffees as well as a ton of the whole bean dark roast bags.  I took all the steel cut & Irish oatmeal and a few more bags of jasmine and basmati rice.  The Wheaton (Danada Square) store had lots of Philadelphia cream cheese on sale BOGO, with dates into Spring, 2014.  You’ll be paying $1.35 for two, so why not grab your favorites!  If I had another freezer, I would grab a few boxes of taquitos and other junk foods my ass has known and loved.  Danada also had a lot of cheese, both the shredded and chunk variety by the dairy and also in the fancy-schmancy section.

The booze section hasn’t been restocked – it’s an alcoholic’s worst nightmare!  I’ve got more booze in my basement (not that I’m trying attract drunks – hey, what are you doing down there!).

Stopped in to Jewel this evening to pick up the FREE Yakisoba noodles (99¢ BOGO, use the 50¢ coupon in the 11/3 S1 insert) – hadn’t been there in over a week!  They asked where I’d been, then said “Never mind – Dominicks, right?”  Hey, I follow the deals!

Dominicks, apropos of nothing

https---s3.amazonaws.com-tanga-images-g6smevzn5pw8Heard rumors that Dominicks was not only putting booze at 50% – they were restocking shelves from the warehouse.  Sent FirstBorn into a snowstorm to check out the Danada Square store in Wheaton.  RUMORS LIE!

Shelves were still incredibly sad, liquor was reduced 30% and going rapidly – FirstBorn said that lots of beer was already gone.  I asked for a nice cream sherry or a solid port – ended up with a bottle of “my favorite” Jägermeister… (which Rachel says explains so much).  While I’ve tried Jägermeister, I look upon it as more of a “wow, this cough syrup sure has a kick” kinda drink.  sigh…kids

and yet another Dominicks – Woodridge

Photo1.jpgRead on a couple of sites that the Woodridge Dominicks had signs up that they weren’t accepting coupons, which is why I saved my favorite store for today.  Well, not only did they not have any signs up, I happened to have a few coupons with me and had no difficulty at all in using them!  Now I feel bad.  This time I only spent about $70 mainly on frozen seafood and Morningstar Farms products for PiTA ($1.75!!!)  The scallops were on sale for $7.99 for the 16 ounce bag – $4 a pound for wild-caught! – is definitely a stock-up price.  In fact, tomorrow we’ll have a nice dinner of scallops sauteed in butter with capers over a bed of steamed rice.

Woodridge looked like a store from 1950’s Russia – that’s picked over pretty good!  Found another Cracker Barrel cheese chub and had a coupon in my pocket; one olive oil on the shelf and it had a $2 hang tag!  thankyoujesus!

Scenes from Dominicks

Important note: The registers lock at $400, so make sure your cashier hits subtotal on a regular basis, which will take off the 50% – not very likely you’ll hit $400 afterwards!  And in my case, my coupons were so numerous that mgrs had to use their override keys!  But it still makes me sad.

I picked up another 148 cans of Carnation Evaporated Milk and a buttload of dog food (technical term). Yes, I said you should never buy cheaper brands of dog food…but this is really, really, really cheap! And I’ll mix it all up in a large plastic garbage can so it’s not 100% canine crack.  The black and white oversized totebag in the second cart is full of inserts!  I like the True Lemon products, so stocked up on the lemonade.

This picture is called “Never Shop With Kids.” Guess why?
Never shop with kids

Ended up spending $143.18 after all coupons – would have been $465.18.  FirstBorn spend $91+ on his cartload of junk food and saved $70+.

Quick Dominicks info

The Cracker Barrel is card-priced at $1.99, so a buck. Use the $1 coupon from 11/17 S for FREE non-government CHEESE!  I took all the cheese from Danada Square.  tough

Notes from the Dominicks field…

Photo1.jpgPhoto1.jpg

Great deals on Tide:  small bottles are $6.99, so $3.50 less the $2 coupon in the December P&G.  Salsa verde is BOGO, which works out to be about 80¢ a jar, good enough for me!  The Goya extra virgin olive oil is over in the Hispanic section for $8.19, so $4.10, but there were $2 hang tags on many of the bottles.  Although I’d read that Starbucks wasn’t part of this (had been pulled), there was lots available for $6.99 (so $3.50 less the $2/2 in 11/24 S.

I’m gonna be hitting a few more stores for pet food.  The Tidy Cat litter jugs work out to $2.50 each; use the $1 coupons from 10/27 r.

Cleared out the Ogden Avenue (DG) store of evaporated milk (couple hundred cans).  One case opened as I was rolling the cart to my car.  A men stopped to help and said “Gonna get through the Zombie Apolocalypse.”  OMG!  It’s a sign, I tell you, a SIGN!

Health & Beauty printables for Dominicks

Dominicks: 50% off Health & Beauty products @ stores closing – includes sale items

pileofpooHaven’t posted this before because, frankly, to me it’s a waste of time and gas to drive around to Dominicks to fight people racing around with cartloads (yes, that’s what I’ve been told).  As I told someone, you could put a 50% off closing store sign on a pile of dog crap, call it a portable compost-maker…and some idiot would buy it.

However, there are some things that make sense to grab because they won’t be as heavily purchased:  Any OTC meds that you or your family take on a daily basis.  One person took a year’s supply of Prilosec because it’s a daily med for her and half price is a very good price (dates are through 2015).

Diapers are included, but even at half price they’re pricey (to me!).  L’Oreal shampoos are FREE after appropriate coupons – and if you need more Nivea lip balm – well, here you go!

Free Dannon and more @ Dominicks

Photo1.jpgDominicks has the Dannon Light & Fit Greek yogurt on sale for $1 – there’s a JFU for $5 when you buy five with a limit of ten.   This is working on all ten – so ten for the price of ZERO & no tax!  AND there was a 10% off yogurt under my coupon section – unlimited –  which worked out really well for the four So Delicious coconut milk yogurt (for Rachel) that were on clearance for 50% off.  Which means I paid 66¢ each!  This was at the 63rd street store in Woodridge.  They have a ton of yogurt on clearance, all different brands, so if you’re looking to stock up, please don’t wait.

Two gallons of Horizon whole milk were on clearance for $4 each, but my absolute favorite deal is the LOL four cheese Italian blend cheese in the deli:  50% off!  I had them slice up a couple of pounds, cause we’re talking $3 a pound for cheese.  This cheese will be perfect in my new culinary love:  frittatas!  Made one last night (since we seem to have a surplus of Target cage-free eggs!) using leftover mashed potatoes, wilt-y bell peppers, an onion and a package of broccoli slaw with a layer of LOL swiss.  OMG – it was amazing.  Even DH liked it.  I think the next one will be with rice, cheese and veggies.

Oh, and pay no attention to the croissants and/or the turnovers.  shut up.
