Jewel shopping & a pit stop at CVS

photo.JPGJewel has a Buy 10 get $5 off Instantly promo that started today (they also have a P&G Buy $25 get $7 off, but frankly, given the current coupons, it’s pretty sucky).  I like the Skinny Cow 8 oz  coffees for $1.49, less 50¢ off each wyb 10 and then use the 75¢ coupon from 4/26S.  Yes, I’m actually paying 24¢ each but I’m feeling rich!  Lots of freezer clearance items.  Grabbed the Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches for 99¢ and I’ll return with the $1 coupons from 5/31rp.

CVS:

The Spend $30 get a $10 CVS cash card promotion says limit one offer per card…they lie.  I’ve run it at least 5 times so far and I’ve been told the limit is 15.  You can see the total and subtotal on the bottom of the receipt, so you don’t have to actually spend the $30, but probably much less to get the $10 card.  And you use the $10 card for the next purchase.  sweet, huh?  The current thinking is that this 15 limit is probably meant for the entire promotion.

riddle me this, CVS

photo.JPGI live a couple of miles down the road from a CVS, so naturally I’ve never gotten a weekly ad in my delivered papers, only in the ones I pick up at DT.  So why is it that each of my delivered papers – with no CVS ads – had this double-sided sheet of P&G coupons emblazoned with CVS all over the page?

burning ecbs

photo (3)I had $6 in expiring ecbs and not much interest in any deals at CVS. If you find yourself in the same situation, grab a Physician’s Formula product (any product) and earn $7 in ecbs. This Gentle Cover concealer stick was $7.29. After my ecbs I paid $1.75 and earned $7 in ecbs and another 30 days to find a deal!

The Look Good, Smell Good Drugstore Tour

photo.JPGWalgreens has BOGO 50% on select Almay products this week. I bought 20 eye shadows, used 19 $4 coupons from 4/12S and paid $3+ and high tax; also earned 1,000 points for each set of two.  Irish Spring is $3.99 with a $2.50 Register Reward. Use the $2 coupn from the same 4/12S insert and the other 2,000 in points – -you’ll end up paying only high tax. The PaperMate InkJoy pens were on clearance for $2.19 (although other areas I am sure have them for less). Use the $2 coupon in the April IVC and pay 19¢ each plus high tax.

photo.JPGSince Walgreens didn’t have Almay lipgloss as part of their promotion, I headed over to CVS where I picked up two BOGO 50% off glosses and two Irish Spring 3-bar packs.  The Irish Spring was $3.99 each set and you earned $4 ecb when you purchased both; use the 4/12S coupon for Irish Spring bar soap.  Limit one per card.

CVS in all its glory shopping

Cvs addison thank you jesus shoppingThis is what I call my Come to Jesus shopping trip – all these items have been gone from CVS stores near and far (I might have had a bit part in that production), so you can imagine how thrilled I was discovering this time-warp CVS! Those Natural Instincts were $2.07 (or 7¢ after coupons), the Age Defy was $2.49 (or 49¢ after couons) and all the blessed Nexxus was 75% off. Best part is that none of these were marked in any way on the shelves -good thing I know my clearance products!

Target & CVS shopping

photo.JPGTarget had these Almond Roca in the Dollar Spot marked 70% off – -heck, yeah! Some over-priced clearance hair color, which provided comic relief, a few decent vitamin deals. This crave was $3.48, less a $3 coupon.

CVS was basically hitting up the few stores in the Chicago suburbs that I didn’t even know existed! More $2 Clairol hair color and still have a few coupons, so life is good.

Also stopped at a Walmart where the clearance section looked like the items had been moved there by a front loader.  Even sadder than their condition were the prices…those $1 L’Oreal at Dollar Tree?  Grab ’em here – all beat up – for $5.

CVS & Ultra shopping

photo.JPGThe Ultra part was just ’cause I was driving by one in Forest Park – they had lots of organic milk coming up in a few days so I offered to take all the whole milk and 2% (any lower I will not go!) off their hands for $1.99 each. Got 8 (they also had lots of fat-free…which i am not).  Was also able to use a Bayer rain check.

The CVS haul includes lots of the John Frieda shampoos and conditioners – the full repair line – that is clearanced out for $1.82. This was at quite a few stores. Unfortunately, no coupons, but still a darned good price! Hair colors were around $2 and used $2 coupons, Nexxus is part of the Spend $20 get $10 in ecbs which I keep rolling from week to week because the clearance items are included. The L’Oreal Advanced shampoos and conditioners were 2/$9 and I paid with this $4/2 L’Oreal printable Print now, use this week and also next week (new offer number!). Buying the 2 L’Oreal also triggered a $4 ecb.

Great CVS Nivea lip butter clearance

photo.JPGBeen driving around, grabbing all the Nivea lip butters I can, since they’re ranging from 99¢ to $1.04 on clearance!  Best part is that there’s a $3/2 coupon in 2/8S which does wonders for the bottom line!  If your cashier reduces the coupon value, fine, but if you have one who scans for $3, make sure you have other products to eat up the overage.  The only clearance flavors are Caramel Cream Kiss and Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss; Cocoa Butter Kiss is $2.50 (same as the Care & Color tubes), while the Raspberry Kiss is, weirdly enough, almost $4!  Definitely avoid the latter.
