2013 DuPage Flood – Happy Anniversary

DH took this shot of a highly pissed off Goddess during the forced evacuation on April 18, 2013 during the worst flooding in Lisle’s history.  The water depth here was very shallow; compare the level on the mail box on the left to the stop sign in the background.  Our house isn’t pictured, but the water came up to the garage carriage lights…yeah, that high.20130418_112520

Sun, Sun, Sun – – Finally!

First time this year I’ve been able to hang clothes with a reasonable expectation that they’d dry!  Tomorrow is towels!  Getting excited about doing laundry — how sick is that?

STEMCON @ COD on 4/30 – FREE!

PITA and I attended the Pluto presentation at COD this afternoon – fascinating!!!  The astrophysicist, Dr. Kimberly Ennico-Smith, totally rocked the subject and shared the latest and greatest images of Pluto (with 3D glasses!) from the New Horizons mission.  Apparently Pluto isn’t the dark old rock I’d learned in school.  Heck, I don’t even know if they’d discovered Pluto back then!

And we will definitely be attending STEMCON (Science+Technology+Engineering+Math) on April 30th since it’s free and sounds like a ton of fun!  Reprogramming your brain, anyone?

The only reason I enter these codes is ’cause they’re free and the odds are about the same as the Illinois lottery… This giant stack earned me five winners…where I had to print out and tape the 2-free bonus tickets.  Your definition of Win may vary…

Black out Days

DH came down with that nasty norovirus on Thursday and I’m spent most of the past few days with him at Urgent Care and filling prescriptions and shopping for Gatorade (no coupons even!).  We’ll probably end up at the ER today, since it’s still here (all symptoms) and that’s not right, at least according to the CDC site.

On the positive side, at least he can’t complain that I buy excessive amounts of bottled water (since it seems to be disappearing at an alarming rate!).

GlassesUSA: 55% off + Free Shipping = $22 glasses!

Sale ends on Sunday.  Sadly, this code doesn’t apply to clearance frames, but their styles are so cheap to start with, you can’t complain – prices start at only $22 for frame and lenses!

Here’s a shot of the Pupil glasses I got a few months ago; completely satisfied with everything.

Complete pair of glasses only $38 @ GlassesUSA

Here’s a picture of the Pupil style I got a couple of months ago – love them!  I’d never tried online glasses, but it was super easy to enter prescription info; you can also download your photo to try on different models. Grab two pairs and keep one in your car or purse (I only need them for low light conditions).
