First up – Good News! The first group of coupons has arrived (finally…). I’ll get them out to the giveaway winners tomorrow. There is a possibility that I might get enough to give more away so don’t throw out your Fuse and/or Vitaminwater receipts.
My first stop today was at Jewel, where I wanted to check on the Lawry’s Marinade deal. I’d read that there were $1 hangtags on the bottles, which, combined with the $1 sale, makes for some really cheap marinade – free! And this is some seriously good product to have in your stockpile, folks, because you can use it for just about everything: fish, chicken, beef, pork and for all types of cooking methods. Not one bottle had a hangtag (I also checked a far distant one
justincase. nothing). However, I was able to score a few of the newest Jewel coupon booklets entitled fresh summertime FUN. They say FREE – take one. so i did…
Last stop was to a Bolingbrook Wags where the computer said
there was stock – 12 lousy toothbrushes. which is 12 more dollars than I came in with, so shouldn’t complain. Steve should get more of these in next week’s order (Wednesday), so I’ll have to wait.
Can you sweet talk Steve into sweet talking my Wag’s manager into special ordering?!? It is sooooooooooooooooo frustrating! I have 60 Right Guard q’s and asked them to order 120 body wash for me and he said “I’ll see if I can” (which is what he ALWAYS says….and never does!)
The sad truth is that Steve has gotten calls from other stores in other districts (yes, word travels) asking how he’s pulling in so much business. When he tells them about placing special orders for people using coupons, the answer is pretty much “Oh, that’s good for you, then, but I don’t want to bother with that.” I’m paraphrasing, but still…it’s been quite a few and only the two stores in Lisle and Montgomery have actually stepped up to the plate for the increased business. If a store manager is old and headed for retirement, he doesn’t want the extra bother (it’s a lot of extra work) because it’s not going to increase his retirement substantially.
ALWAYS look for the young store managers. They’re working up the ranks and hungry to prove themselves as competent management material. Have any interested mgr contact Steve for the numbers Wheaton runs on a good sale.
which jewel did you go to because the 3 jewels by my house dont have these out on display.thanks
If you’re talking about the newest booklets, they were only supposed to be put out today, Thursday. Some Jewels had them up earlier in the week, but were then instructed to take them down until the start of the promotion. My guess is that the Lisle Jewel jumped it by one day, so no biggie. When I stop in later in the afternoon to pick up my second Fuze/VW order, I’ll see how many are left and how many more are available for adoption.
