Wags, once again – update

Redplum.com has a $3 coupon for Nutrisse or Herbashine if you need more coupons.  Don’t forget that it’s a two print per computer limit.

See, I’m not so crazy about Walgreens that I want to visit several friggin times a day!  I just need a bunch of rain checks so I can pick up more hair color if my ordered coupons arrive after Saturday – kind of like a belt and suspenders thing.  So our total here:  $5.88 and I received my $5 Garnier catalina. Another reason the total is low is due to the 15% discount taken through the end of September.  You can bet I’ll be taking advantage of this.

Walgreens clearance

I don’t normally buy refills, since the starter kits are mostly free.   In this case, though, I picked up quite a few for a friend with puppies.  need i say more?  Anywho, these were on clearance for $1.74 each at the Maple Ave store in Lisle.  There is a $1/1 coupon in the September P&G insert and I got my 15% library card discount, so total OOP for 12 of these: $7.05.

Make sure to check your own Walgreens for this clearance, since corporate normally sends out directives to all the stores in a district.

WAGS 9/12 – shopping

First installment of deals:

Both the Garnier Nutrisse and Herbashine are sale-priced at $5.99.  Spend $20 and you get a $5 RR back.  Soooo, while the deal is not as good as last week’s with the Herbashine, if you need the Nutrisse, it’s the only game in town.

Pick up 4 Nutrisse for $23.96, hand over 4 $3/1 coupons (9/12RP) and you’re at $11.96.  You’ll get a $5 RR at that point, so your actual cost will be $6.96/4 or $1.74.  While I like free, I have to be realistic…I’ll be stocking up major time, maybe 20?  The problem with Wags is that they never seem to have more than a few of any one color.  Last year they had this great sale and I ended up buying lots of other colors, just so I could exchange them for the color I need.  Obviously you will need to clear this with your store manager first!  Also, get a rain check for as many as you can get:  the $5 RR is a monthly deal, going until the end of September.  Never know how many inserts you will come across in the next couple of weeks.

Update:  I picked up 4 Nutrisse and one Dulcolax, used $12 in Garnier coupons together with the $8 Dulcolax printable and a $2 Wags coupon (from the Sept. booklet) for $3 total Dulcolax overage.  There is currently a promotion going on with your local library, where all purchases receive a 15% discount when you show your library card.  Soooooo, my actual total was $9.07 and I got back a $5 RR.  And yes, the products are sitting on a large pile of 9/12 SS inserts.  I probably have  50 now and will be getting more during the week.  Unfortunately, it’s the Red Plum that has the Garnier coupons!

The Impruv lotion is on sale for $4.99 with a RR of $4, making this .99.  When you go to the Impruv.com website, you register, give them everything but your blood type, then when you go to print the coupon, it says you’ve printed out your copies already.  Tried this using my info and my daughter’s – same thing.  I completed the contact form with my complaint and it went into error mode.  I used another computer/printer and it said I had already entered my email; different email and it said that print limits for this campaign had been reached!  I will call them on Monday, but I would definitely STAY AWAY FROM THE IMPRUV SITE.

Ducolax is $6.99 with a $2 coupon in their monthly booklet.  Here is a link to a free (up to $8) bottle of Dulcolax.  Note that you can must give them your name and email address and agree to receive info.  This print limit is tied to your printer, not email or computer! boo, well at least the overage pays for your hair color!

Nature’s Bounty is BOGO, so use two $3/1 coupon in 8/29RP and take $6 bucks off your purchase of any of the multi-vitamins.  If you like other supplements, you can click here and get $1/1 any Natures Bounty product.  Don’t forget, it’s limit two per computer on printables.

Garnier HerbaShite

Now I’m pissed.  Stopped off at Wags to pick up some of the HerbaShine hair color, ’cause I’m running scary-low.  Only 18 colors available, which made me think Wags was cutting back after the remodel.  Called Garnier’s toll-free number only to hear that their offices are closed through Wednesday due to the holiday.  Web site does not have a comments section (which is probably a good thing, considering), only an automated computer help section.

But…you can see from the colors section that those 18 are it.  And that there are no auburns at all!  So, while many of the HerbaShine colors match up with the Nutrisse line, (Wags carried 30 of the Nutrisse and 18 of the HerbaShine) we’re talking about 40% fewer colors.

L’oreal is starting to look pretty good right about now.

Cheap hair color at Wags

For those of you who color your hair – not me (*cough*), there is a fantastic deal for Garnier HerbaShine.  One of Wag’s monthly deals is spend $20 on Garnier and get back $5 RR.  Soooooo, buy three at $7.99 (or $23.97), hand over three coupons from here and here (two prints each link) and then the in-ad coupon which subtracts another $6.  Now  you’re left with $8.97 OOP and you get a $5 RR.  IF, I were to color my hair, I’d probably pick up about 20 of these.  Seriously, the Garnier line is my favorite hair color product, so this new HerbaShine should be great.  I haven’t yet tried it because I stocked up on the earlier product last year and still have one left.  See, this is what I mean by stockpiling.  Pay $7.99 when you run out or pay $1.32 now:  Your call.  Don’t forget that you can’t roll the RRs at Wags, so spend the cash and take the RRs to Jewel or Dominicks.

Credit and much thanks to Rachel at Mashupmom.com who wishes all to know that she doesn’t color her hair (hahahahaha).

Wags

What to pick up at Walgreens this week?  I’d say not much, but I’ve been yelled at already about making judgments on what is and isn’t a good deal based on my stockpile.  Sooooo, here goes: John Frieda hair care products are 3/$15 and get back $5 rr. Use three of the $3/1 Root Awakening coupons from 8/22 SS and pay $1 for all.  Apparently the bonus sizes are included, so grab those if you can find them.  I’ve actually used this stuff and can say it’s not bad, once you get past your scalp tingling from the mint.  Zederig acid reducer is on sale for $10 with a $10 MIR (which prints at register).  Pair this with the $3/1 coupon in the 8/15 SS and it’s a MM.  Since I only cause heart burn, don’t know if this stuff works, but if you use it, it’s stock up time.  I’ve never used Carmex skin products, and since there’s no coupon out there, it’s not likely that I will in the near future, but if you like this stuff, pick up a couple for .99 after the $4 rr prints out.

And don’t forget:  Just because it says Walgreens RR, doesn’t mean you have to use it at Wags.  It’s actually a manufacturers coupon and can (and should) be used at Jewel or Dominicks.

Any other stuff catches your eye, please comment.  Thanks.  Now, off to do some family-time thingie.

Walgreens 8/29/2010

Unless I’m really, really blind (family prohibited from commenting), I’m just not seeing anything extraordinary this week at Wags.  In point of fact, I haven’t been to one in weeks!   Perusing through the upcoming insert, I come up with few possibilities.  Again, if you need something and you can get it almost free, go for it:  It’s better than paying full price.

FREE STUFF (after register rewards):   10 pk Breathe Right strips at priced at $4 with a $4 RR and there’s a $1.50/1 coupon in the 4/11/10 RP; Carmex Moisture Plus lip balm is $2 with a $2 RR; 60 ct Irwin Naturals Healthy Skin and Hair Plus Nails Supplement $10 with $10 RR; 500 ml Listerine mouthwash Total Care and Zero $2.99 with $1 RR (bunch of $1 coupons out there – 3/07 rp, 1/03 rp, 4/11 rp, 8/01 ss.  While these won’t be free, it’ll take us into the free season.  There’s also 8 or 13.5 oz Renpure organics shampoo or conditioner  at $6.99 bogo  with $6.99 MIRs attached to some bottles.  If you spot any great deals, drop me a line with the info.  Thanks.

In my opinion, it’s not so great a week at Wags.  There’s lots of other stuff with RRs, but, again, we’re going into the cold and flu season, which means MM deals on Nyquil, Dayquil, Theraflu, Benadryl, etc. so just wait it out.

Don’t forget that Walgreens calls their catalinas Register Rewards, but they are just plain ole manufacturer coupons in disguise, which means you can use them as cash at Jewel and Dominicks.

A New Way of Eating

Yes, I’ve heard all the yadayadayada about how you can’t eat healthy using coupons.  Hah!  If Walgreens considers this healthy, then my family’s way ahead of the game.  Would you like your deodorant or antiperspirant spread on white or whole wheat?

How Many 4-pks of TP can you fit in a trunk?

Read on-line about Wags clearancing the Cottenelles for a buck or less. Well, since I just happened to have a whole load of $1 coupons, why not? Took a drive and we’re set for a couple of years. Well, I hope we’re set, since we’re talking 168 packages. The asst mgr was so excited she wanted to print out a duplicate receipt to post on the wall, showing people how you can save shopping at Walgreens.  Oh, how much did I spend?  Less than $12.
