FamilyFINDS

One of familyFINDS! deals today is Abigail’s Avenue, a cute, albeit somewhat pricey site.  The costumes are very clever and a voucher makes it more reasonably-priced.  I’d say these are definitely worthy of grandparent purchase.

Deets:   Limit one per person; cannot be combined with any other promotions; must use entire value in one transaction; no cash value or cash back. Shipping charges not included. Voucher must be redeemed by August 25, 2011

Note that this is another one of those sites where you must register to buy any of certificates; it’s free and easy.

Cupcakes

Today’s livingsocial is sent out to all of you in the western suburbs – Geneva!  And why Geneva is considered a Chicago suburb is beyond me…  For $9 or $18 bucks you get your choice of either a half- or dozen cupcakes at The Latest Crave on South Third Street.

Deets:   Limit 2 packages (option A or B) per person, additional as gifts;  limit 1  per visit;  Not valid towards individually wrapped cupcakes, custom orders, or jumbo and mini cupcakes; promotional value expires on June 23, 2011

Don’t forget that you have to register with livingsocial to get any deals.  It’s free and fast and painless.

and i’m certain these are ok on the new Atkins…

Living Social & purdy

Today must be Drive to Elmhurst Day, because this deal from Living Social is almost next door to the daily Groupon deal!  Package is a sweet combination of services from Bella Luna Salon:  hair cut, deep conditioning treatment, blowout and $10 gift card for only $35 ($90 value).

Deets:  one voucher per person, up to four additional as gifts; appointments required; 24 hr. cancellation/rescheduling policy;  services must be redeemed during one visit and by same customer; cannot be shared.

Living Social (and clean)

$20 for 5 Ultimate car washes using those automatic bay places is a pretty good deal.  The one down the street was over $5 last year (who knows now?)  and there’re lots of Spirit of America locations (two real close to me).

Deets:  Promotional value expires February 17, 2012. Limit one per visit; cannot be shared (and how are they gonna enforce that one?).  The site does allow you to purchase multiple packages, so I’m gonna grab one (or two).  Come on now, it’s cheaper than washing it yourself!  that’s my story and i’m sticking to it…

Update:  got me two packages – came in the mail on the 19th!

Livingsocial – Downers Grove

Today’s Livingsocial main page deal is for Wildfire Productions Glass Art Studio in Downers Grove, a $50 voucher for glassblowing/glassfusing classes or products for $25.  This studio always has an exhibit at the annual Lisle Depot Days – fascinating to watch a rod of glass become a work of art.  You can stand there, mesmerized, for quite a long time.  I admit to having zero artistic talent, but I can appreciate those who do.  I bought  the glass pendant pictured (Sapphire Goddess, natch), so will definitely be buying at least one voucher.  Honestly, folks?  This stuff makes a beautiful and unusual gift for both yourself and others.

Deets: Limit 4 per person, additional vouchers as gifts; limit one voucher per visit.  Vouchers expire August 14, 2011.

Livingsocial

and boy would this one be social! In keeping with today’s portrait theme, this Livingsocial dealio is for a boudoir photoshoot for $99 (67% off).  Argentina Leyva Photography is offering this package of a two-hour boudoir photo shoot for a woman or couple (includes hair, makeup, and mini-manicure session), one 8×10 or 5×7 Print, and 10% Off Additional Photos.  Since the only location at present is in Chicago, I wouldn’t normally bother with this, but they are opening a Downers Grove location, and the voucher can be used there.

I’ve checked out their site, and while the the initial shoot is a great deal (since it seems to include props),  I’d really knock them down on the “additional photos” part of this deal.   DH is a photographer, so I can say with certainty that their print cost is probably a buck or two, so if they claim your price is usually $60, but you get 10% discount?  pah.  game over, bucky.  unless they take RRs…

Deets:  limit one voucher per person, multiples as gifts.  Vouchers expire December 31, 2011.

Livingsocial – Sweet & Simple Bakery

Another bakery deal!  like i’m not fat enough… Today’s Livingsocial deal is the usual half off:  $10 for $20 worth of baked goods and cafe fare (sandwiches, soups, drinks) from Sweet & Simple Bakery in Elmwood Park.  I might just add this voucher to my collection, since I’m frequently in Oak Park and this would make a nice change from the gyros planet my family seems to gravitate towards for lunch…

Usual deets:  Limit one voucher per person, up to two additional vouchers as gifts.  Limit one voucher per order per visit.   Promotional value expires on August 11, 2011.

Livingsocial rubs me the right way

love that line…If you are ever planning on getting a massage, now is the time to buy:  the various deal sites must be running out of massage deals, since everyone seems to be running them!  Today’s Livingsocial deal is for your choice of two options:  hour-long couple’s massage ($60) or individual massage ($37) at the Body Connection Health and Wellness Center in Oak Brook Terrace.

Limit two vouchers (either option) per person, buy additional as gifts.  Limit one per person per visit; Appointments required and subject to availability; Merchant cancellation/re-scheduling policy of 24 hours applies (otherwise voucher is subject to forfeiture); services must be redeemed during one visit and cannot be shared.  Voucher expires August 10, 2011.

By the by, the above picture?  It’s part of my fantasy, not the Body Connection’s…

Livingsocial – music!

Todays’ Livingsocial deal is for one ticket to a classical music performance on 2/12, 2/26, or 3/26 at Wheaton College.  Tickets are $15, normally $40.  I like to attend the college programs around me, since I’ve always found them to be cheap entertainment, given the caliber of the artists.   Limit one ticket per person per show, so you buy the whole set, then your culture buddy buys his or her own set. Vouchers expire 3/26 (well, duh!).

Living Social

wine and chocolate, what’s not to like?  Today’s Livingsocial deal is for two “flights of wine with gourmet chocolate sampler.”  well, la di dah and fiddle di dee… For $17 (reg. $40) you get two of these at Tannin Wine Bar & Boutique in Elmhurst.  Deets:  limit 3 vouchers per person, up to 3 additional as gifts; valid for up to two people; limit 1 per table; dine-in only; reservations recommended and subject to availability.  Vouchers expire August 8, 2011.

ps:  thought their commercial rocked
