I can’t believe I haven’t posted about this SC Johnson site. You sign up for their emails and throughout the month they have drawings limited to the first 3,000 entries. There’s no way of knowing if you won until and unless a box appears in your mail. Still, they have some good coupons, so sign up and go for it. Today was the last drawing for September and was for a Pledge Multi-Surface duster and glass wipes and other cleaning stuff. Why can’t it be chocolate?

Aquapods, we heart u
Gaze up my PITA standing in front of 100 (yes, you read correctly) 8-pks of Aquapods. We had a raincheck for 100 and placed a special order for them. Total OOP was $26.75 and cats received was $75. Oh, and we gots us lots of water…
A heads up here, peeps. I just read on CW that Ultra is supposed to have the Aquapods on sale next week for .88. Holy Fuckmonkeys that’s cheap. Whether or not it’s a good sale depends on 1) whether they have any in stock and 2) what their limit (if any) is.
Oooh, another coupon site
Lots of other sites are jumping on the Groupon bandwagon, apparently. Just got an email from Travelzoo about a great-sounding mani-pedi deal for $20! Just click here and check it out. If I were still working downtown I’d certainly consider it.
Free Cottonelle Flushables
OK, just watched a really strange video from Cottonelle. It played after I entered my info to get a coupon for a free package of the flushable wipes and a hanger (actually kind of cute and probably practical). Watch the entire video (hint: it involves women, a garden hose and soapy suds – this lures in the menfolk)
Tease pole dancing!
Lookie, lookie at what Groupon’s got for us: a cut-rate class in pole-dancing conveniently located here in Naperville. With the holidays coming up? Well, that’s just special…
Hey, all snark aside, it would probably be fun to attend one of these things. At least I’d know no one could ever confuse me with the pole…
Restaurant.com 80% off sale
Boy, the restaurant business must be really hurting, since these promos are coming hard and fast. For 3 days only, get certificates for $2 for a $25 certificate. Please see earlier posts about these certificates. I really, really, like them. They never expire, you don’t have to choose one restaurant or another if you don’t want (it can stay as a gift certificate in your account) and if your restaurant closes or otherwise leaves the program, the certificate can be exchanged for another restaurant. Take as many as you’d like and enter SHARE in the promo box when you check out. Your discount will automatically show up.
Wheaton Drama today
My pita daughter (wearing original cast t-shirt) and I go to NYC at least once a year for a full week of Broadway. The next best thing is the Wheaton Playhouse in Wheaton (quel surprise). Today’s show was the first of their season: The Drowsy Chaperone. This is the first of the shows we’ve seen on Broadway to actually catch up with us (well, except for that god-awful production of Curtains at the Oak Brook Drury Lane, but I digress), and Wheaton nailed it down. Craig (director) and cast – you rock!
And, no, they’re not paying for my comments. although cash works for me…
Lisle Depot Days

Spent some time at this annual 2-day event. This year had actual farm animals. I sat on the ground and all the goats and pigs ran over, thinking my purse was a feedbag – sorry, but no. The black chicken with the white feather hat is a polish chicken (no jokes at present). I forgot the names of the others, except that the gray one is really huge, and runs along looking like he’s wearing feathered pants and they’re on fire.
FREE Panera breakfast sandwiches
Don’t forget, today is the last day to drop off cereal boxes to receive free breakfast sandwich coupons from Panera. Coupons expire the end of October. Rules are pretty simple: unopened (duh!), unexpired and 12 oz or more; one coupon/one box/one person (make sure you go with a crowd). I have dropped off several boxes of the new Cinnabon cereal which is only 10 oz, with no problems but always made sure that the mgr saw the weight. I think they’re going to have to revise those guidelines next year, since the weight on cereal boxes continues to decrease to help us hold down costs. Some people last year (this is the 3rd year) were bringing in those tiny single-serve boxes and cups; come on folks, that’s just tacky. While your cereal is free (you are using your coupons, aren’t you?), why not get some mileage out of it. You know Panera is getting something out of this (and don’t even say they’re doing it for the good of mankind or I’ll come over there and bitch-slap you). Wait, if you believe that, I have some great money-making opportunities for you to work at home for $5,000/month/part time. Honestly! Just send me $10 cash and I’ll rush the info right out. (and your check is in the mail…)
Apples and apple juice
I’m not a big juice drinker (I was gonna say juicer, but that’s a whole other kettle of fish), but an article in the USA Weekend magazine had an article on staying sharp, where it offered some tips for keeping your mind with your body. First was good dental hygiene (!) since one study found that people who had periodontal disease before age 35 had 4 times the odds of getting dementia in later years. OK, that’s not a problem… Second was, obviously, using the gray stuff, but their recommendation was not reading a book (although good), but doing on-line searches. Google is now your BFF. There were a bunch of other yadayadayadas there, but the one I like is drinking apple juice. Seriously! It promotes production of acetylcholine, which is the “memory chemical” in the Alzheimer drug Aricept. They recommend 16 oz total a day or 2 to 3 apples. We like apples to snack on and if I would just cut them up and put them in a bowl every one here would eat them up. Trouble is, I keep forgetting…..YIKES! must start cutting. bye.
