Preserves for Pennies

Last week’s Jewel deal on blueberries (18 oz for 99¢) plus four small, overripe peaches with sugar and some lime juice for brightness.  Simmer on very slow heat until it breaks down and that’s it!  If this were a large batch I’d be canning, but a couple of jars can just be refrigerated.  Maybe I’ll make something with this week’s mango and strawberry sales.

more Jewel coffee/tea clearance

This was on our way to someplace else, but worth checking for clearance coffee and tea, right?  The Naperville Jewel on Ogden & Washington had SAS worker bees pulling what looked like most of their fancy coffee and tea down from the shelves and into carts – clearance marking will be done in-store starting tomorrow, but don’t know what the markdown will be.   Someone from SAS was stacking pods on the clearance end cap, but didn’t see any price tags. Pita and I will stop by tomorrow after class because I’d like to stockpile at least a year – can’t see prices dropping or sizes increasing.

No more P&G laundry insert coupons

Many shoppers haven’t seen fabric care coupons for years, as inserts instead have contained instructions on how to print coupons online. But many regions were still getting actual coupons in brandSAVER inserts and could still find P&G fabric care coupons in the occasional Save insert.

P&G has confirmed that coupons for all of its fabric care products will no longer be published in any domestic paper insert at all.  Here’s the Coupons in the News article.
