Saw a post on CW yesterday that the large bags of Kibbles ‘n Bits were ringing up at $3! Finally dragged my fat can over there a short while ago, certain I was doomed to disappointment, but yes, in fact they scanned at $3 so I took the last 12 bags on the shelf. Wanted to put in a special order for 100 bags, but that wasn’t gonna happen… I’ll return with the $1.50 coupons from the 8/28 and 9/25 rp.
In the same transaction was 12 Bounty single rolls marked .50 on the clearance rack. I’ll return with the .25 coupon from the 10/16 P&G to bring the cost down to a quarter
each. I included one of the Buy 10 get $5 off transactions: 8 Pillsbury Sweet Moments and 2 Simply chocolate chip cookies. Note that the chubs don’t contain real chocolate chips (the words Hershey’s cocoa are prominently displayed to throw us off). Paid with a $4/40; .75/2 for the cookies; 8 $1 on the Sweet Moments, the $5/25 Jewel email coupon, a $5 when you buy 10 GM/Pillsbury products at SuperValu coupon and the instant $5 savings that came off. Total OOP was $42.39. I’ll return with my coupons and get back $3 for the Bounty and $18 for the dog food, which will bring my OOP down to $21.39, of which $3.24 is tax.
Second transaction was for 8 Pillsbury sweet rolls and two Simply chocolate cookies (for the instant $5) and a 2L of Dr. Pepper Ten because I was .65 under the $25 threshold for the other coupons. I used all applicable coupons, so my total is final. Eight .30 coupons for the sweet rolls and one .75/2 on the cookies, plus the free Dr. Pepper coupon. A $5/25 Jewel email coupon, the $5 when you buy 10 participating products at Supervalu coupon and the instant $5 off resulted in an OOP of $6.39. Tax was only .19.
Lucky…..the big bags are ringing up $16.99 in Yorkville and no paper towels!
So you actually scanned one? ’cause none of the bags were tagged on the shelf, they all said $16.99. The asst. store mgr was walking by with a handheld, so I took a chance – boy, I thought his hair was gonna fly off his head!
Yeah I brought it up to the osco register. Maybe they caught on. Although my hubby thinks we have enough dogfood after the meijer clearance last week.
Enough dogfood?!!!! Tell it to the Beagles…
Blacky the black lab would agree with you.
Last week I got some biscuits, and after a few days of being lazy not making them, I thought hey the expiration is probably a month+, no rush. A freakin week! That’s the expiration, a week! So ya, can’t exactly stock up on these, too bad.
Always check the dates, Justin, it’s pretty critical. The dates on all these were the end of November. You can also freeze them, did you know that? The only thing is that you CAN’T thaw them on the counter, but in the refrigerator AND they will rise a slight bit less, but it’s not a significant thing. And I plan to roll them out to use as strudels, so it won’t matter.
OK so they last a lot longer? That’s good to know then, because I can’t think of anything besides fresh meat that lasts that little.
Danada just had a load of old crap laying around, is my belief.
What up with the kibbles, is that some sort of glitch? I’m going out tomorrow to check it out, hope its still the same price. Thanks!
It was chain-wide yesterday, but have heard that not all stores had it today. By tomorrow – who knows? My best guess is that it was supposed to be a $3 price cut and somehow it became a $3 price. Rather like the Oxi-clean tubs for $1.50 each (and those wonderful $3/2 coupons to go with them).
Let us know, okay? BTW, don’t forget that any time you see a good deal or clearance item, stick it in your cart and then hit a coupon database to see just how cheap you can get it. Then return within 60 days with your receipts and coupons and get the cash back.
Will do! Thanks for the advice!
Where did you get the $5 SuperValu coupon you mentioned in this post?
Ooh, that one I can answer! A kind reader sent me four of them. They were from ads for stores that are part of the Supervalu chain, but aren’t around here. Triggs, IGA, The County Market, I believe, were some of them. But hey, no reason why we can’t benefit, right?
