Help?!

Does anyone know of any coupon-friendly Walgreens near the Wisconsin border?  Jaime lives in Lake Villa and has had trouble getting her stores to understand BOGO deals.  She has a rain check for the Clean & Clear body washes, but no Wags’ staff with enough brains to allow her to use it.

  1. I’ve had good luck at the Wags in Round Lake Beach on Rollins when it’s late at night and the one blond cashier is there. Can’t remember her name, but she’s very talkative and is always there in the mid evenings and sometimes on the after 10pm shift. Older lady, blond and VERY talkative and loves couponers. She’s a hoot!

  2. There is someone on one of the sites you visit daily, that travels from WI to IL when there are good deals. Uses a rental truck, I do believe. Wondering if Andy might be able to help you out.

  3. sometimes the peeps at the Harvard wags are cool…there is a lady cashier who was working day shift and she loves couponers..don’t know her name, has darker hair…but in general most wags around here are pretty unfriendly which is why we wish Steve would move up to the boondocks! 🙂

    • Boondocks, you say! Down here in the Ottawa / Marseilles / Morris – this is more like the boondocks! Steve is needed MUCH MORE in this neck of the woods! Come on Steve, won’t you even THINK about it – even for just a little while – PLEASE!!!!!

      • Sandy speaks the truth!!! We can’t get Ottawa to do ANYTHING for us despite all of our efforts! I even gave him Steve’s name and number hoping he would call him and learn why he should be more coupon friendly….but to no avail! Wah!

        • It is frustrating living out here in the wild west! Deals at the Ottawa Walgreens are very definitely a YMMV situation between days of the week, between cashiers and between managers on duty. I try to keep a sense of humor and continue to educate them that coupons are just A DIFFERENT FORM OF CURRENCY and that THEY WILL GET THEIR MONEY and finally THEIR STINKING SALES WILL GO UP IF THEY GET STOCK AND SELL IT. Hello . . . who wants a black bottom line?!? Who wants to do better than last year?!? A smart manager would play ball here!

  4. Amazes me that you can’t just talk to the store manager and walk them through it. Hand them the phone numbers of all the stores you can get your hands on that do it right, and say call any one of them, they’ll tell you I’m right.

Can the stores do whatever they want as far as coupons go? Like you know how a certain Subway franchise, for instance, can deny all coupons if they feel like it?

    • Walgreens are all corporate stores, not franchises, so they have to follow corporate policy and guidelines – up to a point. In other words, they may not want the bother of Register Rewards deals, so don’t order many or won’t place special orders because they don’t want the bother, again. Sadly, if the senior management of a district, then store, the ExA doesn’t want to bother with our business, there’s nothing we, as customers, can do to change things. That’s why I always advise people to hunt out the young store managers: They are lean and hungry and want your business to make a mark. Old guys are gonna retire and they couldn’t care less.

  5. WOW, thanks for posting this and trying to find a wags for me that gets it. I usually don’t have many problems at most of the wags I shop at. This was the first time I got a B1G1 raincheck, and I had a feeling it would be iffy if it would go thru right. I will try again, hopefully tomorrow, and if the cashier doesn’t understand I will get a manager. Thanks!

  6. the walgreens n spring grove is awesome about coupons and is only 10 minutes from wis border. everytime i go there the managers go out of their way to get me coupons and rain checks. They are a big help and very knowledgeable about coupon policies!!!
