since they’re kinda…depleted, shall we say? My rewards balance is 30,500 – – that’s a lot of Nature Valley granola bars, wouldn’t you say (I started the week with 17,500)? Next level is 40,000, equal to $50 in purchasing power. I was going to use them to buy some of the NV, but realized that using rewards to buy rewards items means you don’t generate more. Maybe I’ll begin one of the RR deals starting Sunday with points to make sure it earns RRs.

Ran out of NV coupons – and the points ain’t enough to continue…
Well, some of you cleared most of the Nature Valley granola bars from the Lisle Walgreens – I finished the job. Then off to another Wags until I ran out of coupons.
A neat twist on this deal is to take a $3 NV RR and use it to buy the Nogii energy bars, which generate another $3 RR. They’re pushing the $2.99 ones, but psst, the $2.49 ones work, too. I used Nips as a filler because 1) my mommy likes them and 2) they’re 79¢ with the in-ad coupon. Run this a few times until you get three RR, then buy five boxes of Nature Valley granola bars. Total will be (in DuPage county) $10.18. Use those three RRs and two .50/2 coupons from 1/06 (with cereal on the cover) or .50/2 NV granola bars. Run this as long as you have coupons and patience – I ran out of both. On the plus side, I’m up to 27,500 in points!
Nature Valley STILL working at Walgreens (as of last night)
Laura says that this deal was STILL WORKING as of 9:30 last night. Whoa – I am shocked!

Just got back from Walgreens – as of 7:20 the Nature Valley deal was still working. Got two cats and another 1,000 points for each transaction. So far I’ve used every variety but the thins and they all work. This is a great way to use up those extra $1 RRs from Liptons Tea.
Here’s the .50/2 NV granola bars coupon if you want to make a last-minute dash to Wags. My guess is that Catalina will eliminate the double dip during their regular maintenance (this starts in the Midwest after 11 pm).
Dead? not according to Jill – almost free Nature Valley bars at Walgreens
one of MUM’s readers comments that this deal was dead as of 8:45, but Jill Cataldo reported that she ran this about 10 am! Gotta go with Jill on this one, folks. It did seem odd that Wags could move that fast.
Right now you get TWO $3 cats when you purchase five boxes of any of the Nature Valley granola bars/thins plus 1,000 loyalty points. One of the cats is a RR and the other is a normal catalina that can be redeemed at Jewel – yea! Total was $10.18, so use two of the .50/2 coupons from the 1/6 rp (here in Chicago it had cereals on the cover) to get down to $9.18 I also used three $1 Lipton tea RRs, paid $6.18 and got back $6. Each time I did this I also earned 1,000 points, which is just the way I like to roll deals! Need more coupons? Here’s a .50/2 NV granola bars here and another .50/2 NV granola bars here. I would definitely not put off running this deal because it’s unlikely it will run beyond Monday or Tuesday…

Walgreens Senior Discount Day 2/1
Went to check a price on IheartWags before posting this, when what do I see but a picture! So credit to her for the great screenshot.
Must be 55 years of age. Proof of age may be required. Discounts not valid on prescriptions, cigarettes, dairy products, liquor, liquor department items, phone cards, newspapers, magazines, stamps, gift cards, items or services submitted to insurance for reimbursement or where otherwise limited by law. Also not valid toward Prescription Savings Club membership fee.
The actual ad says Age 55+/AARP members. Now, to be an AARP member, you only have to be 50, but they also have the companion card, if one of you is a member. I don’t know if those cards are accepted or not, ’cause you could get some 22 year old pushing her Papi Chulo in a wheelchair…
The FARR items during this week are now 15% less:
pur-absorb liquid iron supplement 28 pk $10 with $10 RR
DHEA 50 mg tablets 50 ct $7 with $7 RR
K-Y Ultragel 1.5 oz liquid gel $5.99 with $6 RR; $2 off any K-Y Brand product in 12/09 SS (the K-Y Date Night cover – when did they stop giving flowers?)
mg217 psoriasis treatment ointment 3.8 oz $6 with $6 RR
Obviously we have a couple of weeks of inserts still ahead and IPs turn up all the time, so coupons are still possible.
Almost exactly one year ago Wags had the same deal on the pur absorb liquid iron supplement with the same FARR for $10 – and then there was a manufacturer recall of one lot – – which happened to be the only run from which Walgreens had pulled their stock.
Target road trips (with a side of Wags)
Been out driving, looking for a Target with any stock of the $3 Oral-B toothbrushes closer than Wisconsin. I’ve been to Wheaton, Warrenville, Woodridge, Villa Park (where they had some weird song playing in the kids department, all about rising up in the morning to the Lord), Broadview (might have been Hillside) – I’m done with driving! Only good thing was I drove side streets and hit up lots of Walgreens and was able to find stock of Mangodrin and Estroven. Should get more stock later in the week (I hope!).
shopping for free
Wait, isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? Anyway, here’s some deal tripping from today:
Walmart has the Purina cat food boxes for $2.98, so free after the coupon in today’s red plum. Since this is a manufacturer’s coupon, the buyer is expected to pay tax – – except for me, I guess. Both cashier and supervisor said “don’t worry about it.” sorry rachel, but you know i’m lucky… I did not see this product at Jewel.
Jewel has the good ‘n natural bars, too, so if you can’t find them at CVS or Walgreens (or if you just don’t want to bother), head over to Jewel, where I found the cranberry/almond and peanut butter flavors for $1.19. And since the FREE coupon from the 1/6 rp2 goes up to $1.50…
Walgreens is back to flipping Register Rewards this week. The Estroven Nighttime and Mangodrin are both on sale for $10 with a $10 RR. Start off that roll with the $10 RR from the Brainstrong deals of two weeks ago. Note, each of these items is low tax (I paid 18¢ each), so your actual OOP will be insignificant. There is a $2 Estroven coupon in the Walgreen Vitamin and Supplement book, but it specifically says multipurpose Estroven (the yellow box). Frankly? Those registers are a pain when you’re buying the exact same product as on the coupon, so I didn’t even bother. Sometimes it’s easier to just flip between one product and the next without worrying about filler items. Again, I don’t think it will fly and I’d rather have them think I was an honest couponer.
The Lipton tea is $1 with a $1 Register Reward. I splurged and bought THREE, using one of my $3 RRs from the engergy shots of two weeks ago. This was the RR that spun off on one side of that transaction, so it’s not like I actually paid for it. And we were thirsty. No coupons out there.
Home from Wags…
Weirdly enough, the DiGiorno coupons scanned at $5, not the $7.01 I got at Target last week. Oh, well. By buying the pizzas pictured here I not only earned 7,000 points (5,000 are worth $5), I was able to redeem one of my iIbotta offers. This was the first time I’d used iBotta and it was super easy. Add the offer to your account, then scan the receipt and the product’s UPC. I’ll get another 50¢ in my account from that, along with the $5 sign-up bonus (which ends tomorrow).
bump – Cheap DiGiorno pizza at Wags this week with new B2G1 coupon!
Another B2G1 DiGiorno coupon appeared earlier today. Print and take it to Walgreens, where they’re on sale 2/$10. This coupon automatically scans at $7.01, so you may or may not get some realllllly cheap pizza…BTW, if you buy $20 worth of these Nestle products (DiGiorno), you earn 3500 points.
If any of you ran the Brainstrong/Simply Slim deal last week, toss in the Bioglan Kid’s Smart fish oil capsules that are FARR of $7. Use the $3 RR that spun off from the energy shots to lower your pizza cost and extend the RRs for another week.
update: Walgreens Brainstrong/Simply Slim/Red Line flips
As Manny pointed out, many of you are finding $10 peelies on the boxes of Simply Slim, which makes this a $10 MM! Huge! I knew about this, but inasmuch as I was unable to even find much product at a few stores, I didn’t want to get your hopes up. I was wrong — may you all live in a peelies wonderland!
Here’s the way to work the flips at Walgreens this week for those of you with the $4 Brainstrong coupon from the pictured Vitamin booklet. This booklet came out many months ago, but is still available – expiration date on this coupon is 5/13. Running the deal the way I have it listed generates an extra $3 RR every other transaction.
First transaction was one Brainstrong and the $4 coupon – Paid $6 and tax and got back $10 RR.
Second and subsequent even transactions: One Simply Slim for $10. Pay with $10 Brainstrong RR and 18¢ tax. Receive $10 RR.
Third and subsequent odd transactions: One Brainstrong, one Red Line energy shot and a filler. I used Coffee Nips because my mom loves them. Pay with $4 Brainstrong coupon and $10 RR from Simply Slim. OOP is 88¢. Get back $10 RR for Brainstrong and $3 for Red Line.
