My shoulda-coulda Walgreens trip

photo.JPG It’s always the easy-peasy deals that do you in, ya know? Decided to stop by Walgreens and turn a few of the Windex Touch-Up transactions into Colgate mouthwash products with the wave of my card and coupons.  Here is what was supposed to happen:

Windex Touch-Ups are 2/$7(!!) with a $2 RR when you buy two; I used the BOGO coupon from the 5/11 S, paid $4.09 and expected a $2 RR to print, which I would then use on the Colgate Optic White mouthwash on sale for $3.49.  Buy one bottle and one16 oz bottle of hydrogen peroxide on sale for 3/$1 with the in-ad coupon and pay with the $1 Colgate coupon from 5/11 S and the $2 RR from the prior transaction.  The Colgate transaction would then generate a $2.50 RR.  Planning on running this back and forth a few times.  Here’s what actually happened.

There was supposed to be a $1 National catalina overlapping the current Walgreens $2 RR and I fully expected to receive $3, which would have made the Colgate transaction very cheap when you bought two peroxides (about 17¢ plus tax).  Instead I only got the $1 RR to print.  Tried running the Windex deal with no coupons – ’cause you need to buy two for the $2 RR to print and I always like to cover my bases in case the latest register update completely messed up things…again… – only the $1 printed.

Gonna wait it out until later in the week when I’ve confirmed that the $2 RR is actually printing.  Note:  There is also a $1 Windex offer on Checkout51, which I redeemed.  Checkout51 is a program that, unlike most sites, pays you for shopping at any store.

These Checkout51 offers expire at 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 28 2014. Members must buy the products in the United States and upload the receipts while the offers are live.

Wags & Jewel – – cause free is good

photo 1.JPGRight now Walgreens has the Bayer aspirin products on a B1G1 50% off sale (although my store did not have shelf tags on these products). Buy two low-dose chewables for $3.39 + $1.69, use two $1.50 coupons from 5/4 S (says 20 ct or higher) with the $1 Bayer coupon in the May IVC (which takes off $1 on each) and you’ll pay pennies plus low tax. I picked up these eight boxes for 32¢ plus low tax.  Remember, prices at Walgreens even a few of miles away differ quite a bit…you may be able to score them for free!

First Wet n Wild and now Sweet Baby Ray – – nice to be able to shop at my Jewel again! The new ad has Sweet Baby Ray dipping sauce, barbecue sauce and marinades on sale $1.50 or 4/$4. The 5/18 S has a $1 off the dipping sauce, so that’s the puppy to choose if you’re looking for free. Note that only two of the four varieties are part of the sale – the other two are being clearanced out. Check with your store director and see if he or she will swap out some clearance ones (hey, you’re doing them a favor by freeing up valuable shelf space, right?).  And also something to check:  When they say 4/$4, they don’t mean anything over four gets the same price – – that discount only comes off with each set of four.

Walgreens and Gear Speedstick

Tried to buy two Gear Speedsticks today at Walgreens (2/$8), using the BOGO coupon from 5/11 S with the $2 4/27 S one – didn’t see why there’d be a problem, since I wasn’t getting anything free.  Most stores allow this, since you’re using the $2 on the full-price item you’re buying and then getting the freebie.  I mean, wouldn’t Walgreens want the business?  Oh, wait, strike that last comment, since each register upgrade and corporate decision seems to be make their stores more and more customer unfriendly.  If the cashier hits payment and misses a coupon – TOTAL VOID.  Want to add a pack of cigarettes or any other impulse item – VOID.  Buy too many items – VOID.

I’m waiting for the next software upgrade to cause the receipts to print out “thank you for shopping CVS…”

FREE 20-page brag book at Walgreens

This is a limit one deal and you have to pay $2.99 shipping since it’s not available for store pick-up, but a great price nonetheless!  I’m seriously considering putting together a Flood 2013 book to go with the free 8×10 from last week justincase Farmers Insurance wants to pay me for help with their lawsuits…  a few grand would be nice…oh, like you wouldn’t do it, too.

Out & about shopping: DT, Target, Wags

image I carry around the $1 PediaCare coupons (12/08 & 1/05 S) because I occasionally run into a shelf of FREE meds.

image Walgreens has the Wrigley 5 gum on sale this week for 99¢ – stack the 50¢ coupon from the 4/6 rp with the $1/2 in the May IVC for FREE gum!  In my case it was even easier because there was a blinkie right above them spitting out 50¢ coupons – no carpal tunnel from clipping!

image Target has that sweet $5/$20 beauty purchase coupon in their ad this week, so might as well use it, right? Grab three Fructis products and get a FREE trial size product. They were having register issues earlier with this FREEBIE, but it seems to have been worked out. These products were $2.99 each and I used the $2 coupons from the 5/4 S for three, plus three of the got2b products @ $4.29 (ouch!) using the $2 coupon from the 5/4 S (each coupon is in a different SS).  When you buy three of the göt2b, you earn a $5 Target gift card.  I ran this two times, spending $5.76 each time and getting back a $5 gift card.  Paid with prior gift cards, so basically I paid $1.52 for the 6 full-size and 2 trial-size products pictures.  Not too shabby.  I use the leave-in conditioner to condition my hair while I’m soaking in the tub…and it smells purdy…

Note:  If you don’t have any Target ads (I was stupid enough to recycle mine already – dumpster time!), they always have them behind the desk as the service center.  You can also print out two per computer on the Target coupon website under the beauty category.

Free Revlon @ Walgreens (or MM @ CVS?)

imageThis week Walgreens has Revlon cosmetics at B1G1 50% – deal includes eye shadows – use this new $2 Revlon Eye Product coupon together with the $1 May IVC and get some free shadow!  I didn’t need any eye shadow, so tried this deal with the clearance lip stains/balms and eye liners – it worked!  I took the four products shown and paid $3.40 OOP, of which $1.04 was high tax.  Note that next week’s B1G1 50% off does not include eye products, so that’s something to consider, but you could always take your coupons to CVS…

where the week of 5/4 they’ll have a Spend $10 get $3 in ecbs on Revlon (excludes lashes & clearance).  Grab a few of the cheaper shadows, use the $2 Revlon Eye Product coupon on each of them for some very cheap eye shadow – or, if you got the $5/2 Revlon offer from the Magic Coupon Machine this week, a possible money maker!

coupons to print for Free or MM Zantac @ Walgreens & CVS

Untitled 3

iheartwags

The Walgreens and CVS ad scans for the week of May 4th show Zantac with a FREE after MIR with the form available at Zantacoffer.com.  It’s not showing as of this morning – they’d better move on it.  This MIR is only valid for purchases made during the week of 5/4-10.

My first choice would be Walgreens, where they also have an $3 IVC you can stack with this $6 printable.  Pay $9.99 ($18.99 less the two coupons) and submit for a full rebate (since we don’t have the MIR form yet, can’t see wording about coupons).  If coupons are excluded, you’ll still get it FREE!

CVS has Zantac for $17.99, but no other deal.  Pay $11.99 after the $6 printable and submit the rebate form.

If you’re looking for Zantac insert coupons, you’ll find a $4 coupon in the 3/23 S – a $4 coupon is also supposed to be in our 5/04 S.

Walgreens: Irish Spring body wash FARR

Photo.jpg

This week Walgreen’s has Irish Spring bars and body wash on sale with a $4 RR when you purchase two. The 4/06 SS has a $1.50 coupon for the Gear variety, so that’s what I grabbed! Pay 2/$7 less the $3 in coupons and get back a $4 RR. There’s bound to be something in the next two weeks to use them on, even if it’s only the clearance shelf items!

Last day for 5,000 bonus points @ Walgreens

Photo.jpg

I’ve run out of those Vidal Sassoon $5 coupons, unfortunately, so no more clearance hair color for me. This is one of those times I wish I were blessed by the inserts fairy!  Oh heck, I always wish that part!  Grabbed another seven Ban cooling cloths to get over the $25 bump, paid with the FREE coupon from 4/13 S and ended up paying the 8.25% high tax.  ouch.
