Target and Walgreens

photo.JPG Smart-ass FirstBorn sees this display and says “Oh, finally you bought something for me!” I said, don’t be an idiot – they’re backups in case of another flood! Kids. So the Centrum vitamins are all from Walgreens, which I’ve posted about earlier (this is really a great price to stock up with) and all the pads and tampons are from Target using a combination of the $5/$15 store coupon from the 7/20 ad, $2 coupons from the July P&G, 5% Cartwheel and my REDcard.  I bought these more expensive items because they generate a $5 gift card for each set of three.  Weirdly enough, I had both the Pearl and Infinity pads on my Cartwheel for 5% off when I walked in Target, but one disappeared while I was in line and I had to re-add it.  OOP for each box was about $1.50.

Verrry cheap vitamins at Walgreens

photo.JPG

This week Walgreens has the Centrum vitamins at B1G1 50% off. Use the $4 coupons from 7/13 rp stacked with the $5/2 coupon in the July IVC for vitamins as low as 99¢ a bottle.  Obviously your best bet will be the Flavor Bursts and Centrum Silver because they are only about $10 to start with.  If you pick a more expensive vitamin (like Walgreens and Centrum hope you do), your mileage may vary.  Note that the Flavor Bursts bottles are 120, which only sounds like a lot – you take four a day, so it’s only a 30-day supply.

Need Q-tips? 1875 for $8.32

If you’re running low on cotton swabs, grab this plus 50 loyalty points for each dollar you spend. hmmmm  These are 100% cotton.  This pack is not sold in stores and you need to hit $25 before shipping is free.  Maybe grab something in the Sexual Wellness clearance?

I hate swabs with non-cotton tips – rather spend more for the real thing.  Amazon has these for $21.98(!); they’re almost the same price for the two-pack at Walmart.

The I’m an Idiot shopping trip & more

photo.JPG Remember what I said about my local Jewel not carrying Fruit2O? Forget about it – why would you listen to me anyway? I mentioned to the Store Director today that she didn’t carry it anymore and she said “yes we do” and walked me right over. My only redeeming point is that other store personnel couldn’t find it either!

photo.JPG Stopped off at Walgreens to see if the Schweppes seltzer waters had been corrected to ring at $1 with a $1 RR – they had – so I grabbed eight and used the eight $1 RRs from the Starbucks a couple of weeks ago. THEN, I turned around and bought $25 worth of Nestle Crunch bars at 39¢ each, used the promo code on the front of this week’s ad and earned 5,000 points.  I also paid with the .50/2 coupon in the 7/13 S and the eight $1 RRs (the Nestle coupon attaches to one bar, not two, so I had lots of wiggle room).

Here’s the funny part:  This is all LOW TAX because these candy bars contain flour (even rice flour is enough to trigger the low tax code, apparently!).  So, on the off-chance that there are any bars left over, we’re set for Halloween…

Sunday: Target, Jewel & Wags blow-outs

Here’s how I wasted my Sunday after leaving the flea market:

Target:

You could pull up the in-stock inventory at any of your local Targets on Sunday morning to see that most never had more than 25 in stock to begin with (not real time, so as of Saturday).  Readers complained they were at the first of 5 or 6 stores at 8 am and found empty shelves in all. A SuperTarget that only had 3? Come on, now! I didn’t find a single product on the shelf. And if P&G is playing games with deliveries (as I’ve read), what does this mean for us?

Walgreens

The Schweppes seltzer waters were $1 with a $1 RR.  Planned to roll the Starbucks $1RR into this one because I like the lemon-lime seltzer.  The plain one was the only one coming up at $1 (the other two flavors were $1.90 or 2/$3); NONE of the varieties generated a RR.  Walgreens is aware of the issue, given the number of store comments on their corporate site.

Jewel

Stopped in my local Jewel on Saturday to grab a few Fruit H2Os that were free with the Sunday SS coupon.  Apparently not all stores carry this now!  If your Jewel cannot get this product in for you (it’s brought in by the 7-UP driver), then call some of the larger stores.  I’ve heard that some of you are getting the full $1.25 value, even though the coupon requires a cashier to enter the price (currently on sale for 10/$10).  That’s some nice overage!

Sexual Wellness clearance @ Walgreens

155I know, I know – I keep you up-to-date on the hottest deals, right?  Grab any of 172 items in the current  and get jiggy for less – much less.

Out & about shopping – hurry!

Been once again at a flea market all day – in the friggin’ hot sun! But, boy, I haven’t been this tan since we took a two-week Caribbean cruise! Here’s some deals you might want to run…I did!
photo.JPG Food4Less is still running that awesome $2.99 Schick Hydro 5 and Hydro Silk sale. Use either the $4 Hydro 5 or $3 Silk coupon from 6/8 S for, at a minimum, FREE razors (possible overage if your cashier doesn’t care).

Walgreens has a 50% off sale on both Sure and Brut deodorant in the online portion of this week’s ad – that means $1.50! Use the $1 coupons from 6/29 S for 50¢ anti-stink sticks!
photo.JPG

Here’s a deal that I can almost guarantee won’t be running tomorrow: Get a $5 Target gift card when you purchase TWO of these $1.99 Aleve 10 ct travel packs! Note that the cashier will NOT see the card appear on her screen – she’ll need to get a manager to authorize the cards, but it’s not a huge or time-consuming deal.
unnamed And here’s a few of the ones I picked up: Started with a 2+ $5 gift cards and paid out 46 for my first transaction. After that it was use the prior cards and keep rolling. I ended up the cards you see pictured. And remember, this stuff is all LOW TAX. No insert or printable coupons, but some tearpads are out there.

Cheap M&Ms with new BOGO coupons

Walgreens has M&Ms for 59¢ this week with the in-ad coupon – use this B1G1 M&M printable and pay only 30¢ each!  Note that the second item is the M&M pretzel variety.  PITA loves these, but I can’t stand them.  Good thing we don’t have to choose!

If you’re going the CVS route, they have assorted bars and bags for 88¢, so you’re down to 44¢.  If you’re trying for the Spend $30 get a $10 gas card, print out these $1 Nestle pouch printables since the Nestle pouches are 2/$6.  Or this .75/2 Snickers PB Squared printable.  That’s a lot of candy this week…good thing we’re getting the free toothpaste.

Check around coupons.com for any other candy offerings – they sneak new coupons in the database all the time.

Tide for $1.99 @ Wags through today (2 coupons reset!)

Capture126 (1)Through today, get the new Tide Simply Clean & Fresh on sale at Walgreens for $2.99 for only $1.99 with this $2/2 off Tide coupon and this $1 Tide coupon – limit two of each print per computer.  This is a 40 oz bottle.  I checked a couple of stores and they were both completely our, so I took rainchecks, since this is a sale price, not a RR deal.  Boy, I’m getting a lot of rainchecks from Walgreens this week!

Out and about shopping

The Fiora paper towel single rolls at Jewel have dropped from $1.29 to 10/$10 through July 6.  Use the $1 coupon from 5/4 rp to get FREE paper towels!  I picked up 60 and paid $4.35 (this is high tax stuff, folks; your rate might be even higher).  Too boring to take a picture of, frankly, so here’s a picture of something I picked up at Walgreens – Banana Boat sunscreen.  It’s BOGO this week on the spray cans (not bottles), and most of the products have $2 hangtags on them.  Depending on which ones you choose (the higher the SPF, the more you pay), you could be paying about $4 a can after tax for the bonus sizes.  While it’s not the cheapest I’ve ever seen, it’s much better than paying almost $12 a can for the regular sizes!
photo.JPG

The Clorox Touch-Up deal is totally messed up – I not only didn’t get the $2 RR shown in the ad, I didn’t get squat!  Tried it two times, with four products each, figuring if the $2RR wasn’t generating, maybe I’d trigger the same National catalina as on Monday ($1 RR when you buy 2, $2 with 3 and $3 with 4), but I got zip, so returned everything.  Store checked online to see if there had been any update to the information posted on Monday but that info has been taken down!  I’m not touching this one (no pun intended) until Friday or Saturday.
