A burning we will go…at Wags

Finally decided to roll the $9.50 Culturelle RRs into the Aquaphor lip balms and the Wet Kiwi Strawberry lubricant, using Nutcracker Snickers as filler.  Only five of the lip balms still around, so it was game plan change time.  Don’t you hate it when you get all set and think you’re going to be in and out and have everything ready to go?  And then you can’t…

This is the real trouble with not knowing how/why the various deal scenarios work:  If you go in to Jewel for a catalina promotion requiring the purchase of eight boxes of brownie mix and there are only 7 on the shelf – – what do you do?  If the only thing you know is “8 brownie mixes” you’re SOL.

In this case, I was able to run five transactions with 1 Aquaphor, 1 Wet and 2 Snickers.  Paid with a $1 Aquaphor coupon, a $1 Wet coupon, one $9.50 RR and the in-ad Snickers coupon.  OOP was $1.11 and got back $8 in RRs.

Three transactions included 1 Wet, 1 Revlon and 4 Snickers.  Paid with a $1 Wet coupon, the $1 in-store Revlon coupon, in-ad Snickers coupon and the $9.50 RR.  OOP was 88¢ and got back $9 in RRs.

Final two transactions included 1 Wet and 1 package of puppy training pads (aka pee pads).  Used the $1 Wet coupon and the $9.50 RR.   OOP was $3.74 and got back a $6 RR.

My actual OOP in total was $15.67.  I used up $95 in RRs and got back $79 and a whole bunch of Snickers!  And since I needed pee pads, that $15 would have been spent anyway.

that strawberrykiwi stuff is a dessert topping, right?

Jewel – the total ain’t pretty

I’m sitting on a stack of Register Rewards expiring NOW.  Let’s face it, the Wags deals have sucked donkey balls lately, right?  This year’s Jingle Bucks is an insult to our intelligence (use it with a $30 purchase – puhleeze!).

Yesterday I spent about $50 or $60 in RRs at Wags, stocking up on Nips for my mom (boy is she gonna be surprised!).  She likes them, they get stashed in her freezer and they’re on sale.  and i had to burn those stupid… ahem…

So you see here my Jewel purchases:  Two large packages of pork roast for carnitas were about $20 (in the oven as we speak) – the two packages of tortillas and three limes go with.  The four salads were BOGO and I’m hungry since I didn’t eat lunch, so can pretend I’m eating healthy (I have a very active imagination, okay?).  The bread was FREE using a cat that PITA found, same for the Jewel brand biscuits and a $2 Produce cat was thrown in for good measure.  The Homelife paper towels were thrown in ’cause they’re free and you can never have too many, right?  The Scott catalina purchases you already can figure out.  I took 12 of those puny Jewel chilis (mild) because they were clearanced out at 10¢ a can – the jars of jalapeno were 35¢.  The two quarts of light whipping cream are what I use in my coffee – no coupons and no sales – boo hoo.

Ended up using four $9.50 RRs and $1.75 for the main transaction; the two additional Scott ones were $1.63 each.  I ended up with 21 game tickets…with no winners whatsoever.  Between Jewel and Walgreens, it’s hard to know who’s out to screw us more –  who’d of thought CVS would end up being our go-to store!?

And when I mean NOW, it’s hit the print button, okay?

Here’s a John Frieda BOGO Root Awakening product pdf.  It’s a Walgreen store coupon showing an expiration date of 12/31/11.  This week Wags has a B1G1 50% off sale on all John Frieda hair care products, but you’re not gonna get a better deal because the register will take off the second one, which is the cheapie to begin with!   Maybe you can find some clearance ones?  No sale (that I see) for next week.

Sally Hansen – $2.00 off Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips.. Sally Hansen will be B1G1 50% off next week at CVS (the 11th) – Even if your CVS won’t allow two coupons on BOGO deals, this one works because it’s only 50% off! A great price for these.

Candy coupons are always good ’cause there are some fantastical sales already.
NESTLE® Jingles – $2.00 off any THREE (3) bags of NESTLE® Jingles Candy
Wonka® – $1.00 off TWO (2) Wonka® Candy Canes
Wonka® – $1.00 off any TWO (2) Wonka® Fantastical Fun Books

PSAs…

People have been trying to use the $1 Duck brand packaging tape coupon from 11/20 S with the .99 (with in-ad coupon) Wexford brand packaging tape made by Duck…it’s a no go.  Don’t get mad, don’t say “but it’s made by Duck brand – it says so on the label.”  Coupon won’t scan and you will be wasting your time.  If Wags corporate gets loopy and somehow allows this, I will immediately post this as I have about 200 of these inserts.  So yes, I am very interested in this deal and would be more than pleased to push it if there was even the slightest chance it would work.

And now on to something complete different…When you win something from the giveaways you’re told to send your full name using the Contact Tab.  That email goes directly to me.  I then write that name on the envelope that gets placed in the locked drawer at Jewel.  When more than one person with the same first name enters, there is often confusion over who actually won and there have been instances where the wrong person picked up.  By putting your full name on the envelope, it not only eliminates this, but also prevents someone from reading the list of winners and then claiming to be one of them.  Obviously anyone could be called John, but John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt would really be a stretch.

Wags – for a little bit o’ BF shopping

I actually got lots more of each of these items, but honestly, how many boxes of Culturelle, PreparationH and Kleenex do you need to see?  Used pdfs for the PrepH and Culturelle and the $10 Estroven RR.  I threw in 1, 3 or 4 boxes, depending on how much overage I was trying to use up (a .75 off four Kleenex cat spits out that you can use).  We were actually completely out of Kleenex…hard to effin’ believe!

Walgreens $2 MM

Thanks to Nicole, who has been bugging the shit (no pun intended) out of me for the past couple of weeks about this sweet MM.  I confess that I’ve been so focused on CVS, that the few things at Wags kinda slipped by.

Starting Thursday and continuing through Saturday, Walgreens will have Preparation H Totables 10-ct pack on sale for $2.75 with $2.75 Register Reward.  Click here to give Pfizer your info and you’ll be able to download a $2 coupon.

Walgreens – Lysol no touch hand soap system

For those germophobics out there Jonesing for the Lysol no touch hand soap system, Heidi says it’s on sale at Wags this week for $11.99!  WAIT, don’t pass out!  Use the $3 coupon for the starter kit from 11/6 s and you’re at $8.99, still crazy-high.  However, you get a $7 Register Reward, so all is right with the world.

Walgreens – make this Season stunning booklets

You’re all probably way more on top of this than I am, but Wags has come out with a big, shiny booklet with lots of “stuff” on the inside… Oh, yeah, and two full pages of IVCs on the back pages, all with a 12/25/11 expiration date.

now if there were only some reason to shop Wags lately…

lots of new IPs today!

$1.00 off two boxes Post cereals
$1.00 off one Alka-Seltzer Plus product
$1.00 off 11oz+ bag of Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee
$2.00 off one Coricidin HBP product

I particularly like the high-value personal care/health coupons:  $2 off Afrin, REMBRANDT and Coricidin?  This stuff should be MMs with a Walgreens or CVS deal.
