My I really need to stop shopping or hold a garage sale Target trip

I realize that you have to get to Target at the butt-crack of Sunday dawn if you have any reasonable expectations of getting sale items, but I do have a life, pitiful though it may be, and yesterday was the first day I was able to hit a Target…where I scored a big, fat goose egg.

photo.JPGTried another Target today and was marginally more successful.  Yes, I know the 17 ct Finish is the way to go, but realistically, you’re not going to be driving from store to store searching for that elusive dodo – – it’s still decent with the 27 ct box.  Use the $1 Target printable with the $2 mfr printable and the 10% off on Cartwheel.  Not as cheap, but you have product.  The Feria hair color had dropped in price to $4.48 and each pair generates a $5 gift card; lots of L’Oreal insert coupons out there (use the Find a Coupon tab).  Coppertone is $7.99 each; use the $4/2 coupon from 5/18 S and get back a $5 gift card.  California Pizza Kitchen pizzas were BOGO (as were all frozen pizzas), so I used whatever printables the register would accept – and I mean that sincerely.  The $1.50/1 mfr coupon is no longer available, but I believe the $1/2 Target coupon is.  The Palmolive was just sitting there on the clearance endcap, so I took it home with me:  $1.67 each less the 50¢ coupon from 5/18 S.  Can’t say I need any of the stuff I just bought (I still have free Finish from years ago), but I’ll put it to work…

Check for new Target coupon booklet

photo.JPG

Here’s a nifty new coupon booklet you can find, usually behind the counter at guest services. Lots and lots of TARGET coupons, all with expiration dates 7/26/2014.  Nice thing is that the Market Pantry and Archer Farms products usually appear on Cartwheel, too, for even more savings.  and find a clearance package…

Cheap paper towels & an unadvertised body wash deal

photo 1.JPG Don’t particularly like paying for paper towels and thankfully I’m stocked up right now, but bought this roll at Jewel earlier today just, you know, cause… The Fiora single roll (which is next to and looks remarkably similar to the Bounty Basic roll) is $1.29.  Use the $1 coupon from 5/4 rp for cheap paper towels.  Not a sale, so no urgency; expiration date is 6/30.

photo 2.JPG Picked up a few more boxes of Swiffer wipes and tried this unadvertised Dial bodywash deal: Buy any 3 Dial body washes and get a $5 Target gift card.  While the men’s wash was a buck cheaper, we still have tons of Old Spice and Gillette and Irish Spring…you get the point.  These bottles are $3.99 less this $1 Dial bodywash printable; pay $8.97 and get a $5 gift card, so $1.32 each for the girly stuff.

The why pay road trip

photo.JPG

This is a two-Target haul – I decided to check out the Wheaton store to see if they *maybe* had any of those $1.70 sandwiches remaining…they actually had 22, which took me pretty close to the $50 discount threshold, so decided to check out my old standby, clearance coffee syrups.  Ended up taking six of those (new flavors like toasted hazelnut, almond, creme brulee).  Mobile coupon didn’t scan, but they had a UPC taped to the side of the register…

Found a few more DreamSoles and some Swiffer Wet wipes or something and a Duster; each was $4.79, but the $2 coupon only goes for the Starter Duster, the refills got $1 coupons.  OOP was $11.37 with a $10 gift card.  I used my REDcard for a 5% additional discount.

I’ve also been clearing out the L’Oreal clearance hair color because for each pair of $4.48 boxes less the $2 and $3 coupons earns you a $5 gift card.  Lots of inserts, so check the Find a Coupon page.  btw, the new $3 coupon for the Absolute Mouse hair color should have a higher value ’cause it’s about $14!

DreamWalk = dream money

photo 3.JPGNot planning on this trip, but I had an appointment I’d forgotten about and afterwards found myself driving past a Target…so I had to stop.  The Dr. Scholl’s purchase of two products earns you a $5 gift card, so use the $2.50 Target coupon from 4/27 S with the $3 (for innersoles) or $1 (for inserts) from 5/04S to get them for either free or a money maker.  I paid $7.31 and got back the $5 gift card – I only had the $2 printables or I would have done better.  Time to clip!

Note that this is not a sale price like last week(?), but you get the $5 gift card with the purchase of the two.

My main reason for stopping was to see if this Target had the Swiffer Duster Starter Kits ($4.49 I think).  Buy THREE Swiffer products and get a $10 Target gift card.  Use the $2 coupons in the 4/27 P&G on the cheap stuff and you’re making about $4 a transaction (after high tax); refill coupons are only a buck.

Also noticed that the L’Oreal hair colors were also generating a $5 gift card with the purchase of two – beats shampoo or conditioner, huh?  Unfortunately, I think I used up all my hair color coupons.

More coffee & hair color @ Target

photo.JPGThe 5/18 rp has more L’Oreal coupons, so I was able to grab the last few clearance hair colors in the tri-county area…well, it seems like it, anyway; and each set of two earned me a free L’Oreal Advanced shampoo or conditioner.  While there, I used the new mobile coupon for $10 off $50 food items (also on the front overleaf of Sunday’s Target ad) and stocked up on the B2G1 coffee; if you need more coupons, text FOOD to 827-438.  I used coupons for the coffees I chose, but your tastes will be different so always check the Find a Coupon page.  This was at the Wheaton Target, where they had the freezer coffin filled with clearance cheese (this was the non-frozen part) and sandwiches.  Sign said Deli Express cheese $1.70, but all I saw was Kraft and Crystal Farms and Market Pantry sandwiches.  Scanned the cheese but it was $2.16 (do I look rich!!!!!) and asked a freezer guy who said it was the sandwiches!  Seriously – less than two bucks for sandwiches with dates into early June!  PITA and I split one in the car on the way home.  My total for all the coffee, coffee syrup, potato chips (where did those come from?) and sandwiches was $40.  I know I have more coffee that doesn’t show, but it’s getting to be where every time I read or hear news about expected coffee blights or crop failures which will push up coffee prices to the space station, I get this compulsion to go out and grab more clearance coffee.  I mean, my basement is getting to look like Juan Valdez’ back room…

Petco & more Target

photo.JPG

Check your local pet stores because they are always marking down dog and cat food (fish food too, but I had enough of fish after the flood…) – use your coupons and it’s lottery time! I got everything you see in the picture for $25 and change. Do what I do: When I’m about to hit the pet shops, I first click the Find A Coupon page and type in Dog or Cat food. ALL items come up. Grab the appropriate inserts and hit the stores. Or, if you just happen to stop in and see a nice large assortment, check the page for coupons, then get thee home and clip, clip, clip. Laugh, but the Eukanuba alone was originally $36 with loyalty card – – $10 on clearance!

Then stopped at another Target (63rd in Woodridge) where the Aquafresh pump toothpaste was only $2.04!  Grabbed another 10 boxes of hair color, 5 shampoos and six toothpastes along with two bags of free Starbucks coffee grounds for the garden.

back to Target … this is getting ridiculous!

photo.JPG

Just realized the table looks like I’m setting up a booth at an ABBA tribute convention (8 absolute platinums alone)!

Clipped and headed back to Target while PITA was busy…okay I snuck out while she was in the shower, okay? I ran the clearance Preference in sets of four boxes and two bottles of shampoo or conditioner; on one deal I bought four bottles of the Disney princess gummy vitamins for guess who? Yeah, DH, good guess! Each bottles was $4.49, buy two and get a $5 gift card. Used the $1 coupons from 4/13 rp. Not free by any means, but PITA is almost out and loves the gummy ones…sigh.

I also found a couple more of the $3 Target store coupons which lowered a transaction, but on the transactions run using only the L’Oreal manufacturer coupons, I paid $7.60, which included my REDcard discount for the six products.

Target for toothpaste, coffee and “stuff”

photo.JPG Went to Target for the Aquafresh toothpaste deal: Buy 3 and get a $5 gift card. Use the coupons from 4/27 rp and it’s a moneymaker. In the Chicago area we got 75¢ coupons, but I’ve read other places got a buck.  I’ve also read some areas sell this for $1.99, while all the Targets around me seem to love a $2.24 price point.  So if you got a high value coupon and a cheap toothpaste price, you’re probably paying more for hurricane or tornado insurance…  In this instance I spent $4.47 plus high tax and got back a $5 gift card to use on subsequent purchases.

photo.JPG

This is just a cool thing I saw in the $1 stop: mini greenhouses for basil and cilantro. If your kids love the idea of planting and growing things, but aren’t real keen on the care part, this is perfect. Or maybe even goody bag gifts for parties?
photo.JPG Here’s my total (excluding a dozen eggs already put away) haul: 9 pumps of toothpaste, five bags of Market Place 20 oz full-cooked chicken breasts for $1.74 each and three bags of Seattle’s Best as part of the B2G1 sale this week. I used two $2.00/1 printables (and/or this $2.00/1 printable); there’s also a $1.50 coupon in the 3/23 S. They still have the Buy 2 L’Oreal hair colors and get a free L’Oreal Advance Hair shampoo or conditioner promotion going on and there were lots of Preference clearance colors (which work with the deal)…so naturally I had to bring the inserts with the Excellence coupons.  Another trip to Target is in my near future.

The nine tubes would work out to $13.41 after coupons, but before the $15 in gift cards.  Obviously the chicken set me back but it’s mighty tasty and mighty fast – – and we’re now down to four bags.  If you want to run the hair color deals (the best deal is the L’Oreal, but there’s lots of other brands on clearance, so check the coupon database and bring the inserts, justincase)  – my 5/4 rp has $2 off any L’Oreal hair color, so if you don’t have the $3 Target coupon to stack with (I used all mine during last week’s sale), you’ll pay approximately $4.48 x 2 – $4 or $4.96 with the shampoo or conditioner thrown in.  I was able to use the $2 mfr shampoo coupon from 5/11 rp to bring the price down even further, but not the Target coupon; I’m not sure if it’s because Target figures they’ll get their money from the manufacturer but why take the hit with their own coupon...or the cashiers are afraid of me and push them through…

Keep checking those freezer coffins for clearance items – I’ve heard from other readers who found chicken a couple of weeks ago in the 24 oz bags – which has a $1 Cartwheel.  And check, check, check the coffee shelves because there are a lot of clearance bags hidden among the full-price suckers – remember, paying full price will not impress your friends.  Or if it does you need to find new friends or a way to generate fake receipts.

Out & about shopping: DT, Target, Wags

image I carry around the $1 PediaCare coupons (12/08 & 1/05 S) because I occasionally run into a shelf of FREE meds.

image Walgreens has the Wrigley 5 gum on sale this week for 99¢ – stack the 50¢ coupon from the 4/6 rp with the $1/2 in the May IVC for FREE gum!  In my case it was even easier because there was a blinkie right above them spitting out 50¢ coupons – no carpal tunnel from clipping!

image Target has that sweet $5/$20 beauty purchase coupon in their ad this week, so might as well use it, right? Grab three Fructis products and get a FREE trial size product. They were having register issues earlier with this FREEBIE, but it seems to have been worked out. These products were $2.99 each and I used the $2 coupons from the 5/4 S for three, plus three of the got2b products @ $4.29 (ouch!) using the $2 coupon from the 5/4 S (each coupon is in a different SS).  When you buy three of the göt2b, you earn a $5 Target gift card.  I ran this two times, spending $5.76 each time and getting back a $5 gift card.  Paid with prior gift cards, so basically I paid $1.52 for the 6 full-size and 2 trial-size products pictures.  Not too shabby.  I use the leave-in conditioner to condition my hair while I’m soaking in the tub…and it smells purdy…

Note:  If you don’t have any Target ads (I was stupid enough to recycle mine already – dumpster time!), they always have them behind the desk as the service center.  You can also print out two per computer on the Target coupon website under the beauty category.
