Meanwhile, at the Synagogue of Savings….

the Congregation of Coffee?  the Basilica of Buttery Spread?  yes, I know, they’re getting worse, not better.

Ran over to Meijer this am to see if I could score some more Bestlife spread.  There was tons in stock and stupid only brought 11 coupons (have about 40 more on my computer desk – told you I had tons of that insert).  I also picked up 6 of the Maxwell House coffees, using two $1 printables from Kraft (you have to register at Kraft.com, so DO IT) and today’s ss ($1/1 in 9/26 S).  I  wanted run this deal first before posting (saw it in CW), since it does no good to have the best sale in the world if the item a) isn’t in stock, b) limited to 3 or 4 c) is for odd flavors, etc.  The Meijer ad mentioned 50% off Maxwell House coffee, not good enough for me without coupons!  Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any Meijer Mealbox coupons, or their new coupons tied to your cell phone.

To recap:  6 Maxwell House Breakfast Blend 11 oz  on sale for $1.79/each and 11 of the spreads for a precoupon subtotal of $22+ and actual OOP of $5.12.  Well, at least it was all low tax…

Coupon giveaway winners!

Update (’cause I’m too lazy to type a whole new post…)  Congratulations to Sue and Carol, who were the only two who wanted their names used.  Come on weinies, I’m not selling your info to the timeshare people!  What you do with ten tubs of spread in the privacy of your own home is your own business, but if YouTube gets it first, I’ll be upset – just saying…And one winner commented on the juxtapositioning of the 10 tubs of spread giveaway and the Sybaris post…gotta love it!

Don’t forget, tomorrow 5 pm is the deadline for the giveaway.  I’ll get them mailed on Saturday;  you should get them shortly thereafter.  Since it’s not a Meijer sale, but a temporary price drop, you will have until October 10 to use them at Meijer, or some other store if you can find them (exp. date is 10/28).  Just comment that you want these.

Huzzah! i can almost hear you yell…  I seem to have an enormous quantity of those Bestlife $1/1 coupons I used today at Meijer to score free spread.  Thus, a giveaway is in order:

I will be mailing out 50 coupons in total, broken down as follows:  5 “lucky” readers will each get 10 coupons.  The exp. date is 10/28 and the Meijer .99 price cut is through October 10, but remember, it’s not a sale price, but a tpc, so they won’t issue a raincheck.   It’s possible that some other store will have it on sale or clearance before then.

Just comment to this post and be a winner.  If you don’t want your info made public, just let me know and I’ll keep it hidden.  I’m such a kind person…

Meijer today $8.49 OOP

Found five of the Bestlife “buttery” spread on the shelf, which was great.  The shelf tag reads $2+, but rings up as .99.  This matches up with the $1/1 coupon in 8/29 RP, so FREE.  Note that this is a price cut and goes until sometime in November.  The coupon expires on 10/28, so plenty of time to get in on this one.  Dates on the container are 8/11.   There’s 24 of the Zatarain’s rice varieties:  Used 9/19 RP $1/4, stacked with a Meijer’s Mealbox zatarains coupon for $1/2 – worked out to be .24/each (thanks to CW for this deal).  Then I ran by the cat food aisle and saw that they had the Friskies party mix (?) for 5/$5 and coincidentally, there were $1/1 coupons stuck to each package!  Woot!  this explains why I got so many when I don’t have a cat.  JOKE.  I have four cats.

Oh, and a pack of corn tortillas for my son for which I had no coupons!  Greater love than this…

9/12 inserts – update

I see that one of the SS inserts (there are two) contains a $1/1 Kraft string cheese or twist coupon.  I will have approximately 100 of these by the end of the week, so can only hope for another Kraft catalina deal in the next month (for most grocery stores) or next year (Dominicks).  I’ll probably clip and carry a few of these, because Dominicks usually has clearance cheese, so we’ll see how cheap it goes and god knows we don’t need any cheese right now!

If you are sitting on the fence over how many papers to get this week, I’d definitely err on the high side.  There is a $2 Smart Balance coupon in the 9/12 RP which has been extremely useful in the past when it’s stacked with a Meijer Mealbox store coupon.  In the past Meijer has sold the milk for $1.99, so even without the store coupon, it’s free.  Check prior posts to see just how much overage you can get!  And don’t forget the Garnier Nutrisse $3 coupon in the 9/12 RP.  Pick up your papers at a dollar store and you’re way ahead of the game even if you only use one coupon!  Make sure that you check your paper for all the week’s inserts before you leave the store; even if the plastic bag is sealed, some papers are missing inserts.

Meijer

Must admit it:  I am not a Meijer shopper.  I tend to stay away from the giant “everything you need” stores mainly because it takes forever to just get in and out.  Spend too much time in a store and you’ll spend more money.

Case in point.  I had a raincheck for the Smart Balance milk for $1.99.  I stacked that with the mfr $2 and the Meijer Mealbox $1 coupons.  Saw the Kraft cheese on “sale” and needed it, so I figured out that I’d use the overage on it.  Needed a few more dollars to eat up the rest of the overage, so wandered through the produce department.  Now, you have to understand that this is “Danger, Will Robinson” territory for me.  Then, I see them:  mushrooms reduced 40%!  We’re talking portabella, oyster, medleys, etc.  You could say I’m a fool for fungus.  So that kind of explains why my bill was almost $10.  Paid with one of the $5 Kraft catalinas I got at Jewel yesterday (salad dressing) and paid the remaining $4+ in cash.  Just so you know, I was behind a woman whose cartload was $190+ and honestly, her stuff wasn’t so fantastic a selection.  Using coupons makes you spoiled.

By the way, the exp. dates on the Smart Balance are always months out; these had October 12 dates.

Meijer super savings today – 72 cents!

Just got back from a great sale at Meijer:  Smart Balance milk (1/2 gallon) is $1.99.  Well, that’s not too bad, but WAIT, let’s use our coupons, shall we?  In the 7/11 RP insert there is a coupon for $2 off any Smart Balance milk.  There are also coupons you can print on line for .75 on coupons.com using the 90210 zip code.  These allow  you to print out two coupons.  Now you combine them with a Meijer Mealbox $1 store coupon and you have $1 overage, which you can use on other items, in my case eggs, cheese and pita bread.  So, how much did I buy?  14 milks, 6 cartons of eggs, 3 pita breads and one baby swiss cheese.  A decent haul for less than a buck, huh?
