All’s Well that Ends Well – mob style – $5 preview tickets

unnamedWhen you’re an orphaned woman in a man’s world, there aren’t too many options. Luckily, All’s Well That Ends Well‘s Helena is a Shakespearean heroine, which means she’s clever enough to get things done, witty enough to do them with style and she won’t be held back by expectations. Her beloved doesn’t return her love, but a little thing like that won’t stop Helena. She’s determined to get her man! Stage Left Theatre’s clever new twist on an old comedy plucks Shakespeare’s characters out of the Spanish nobility and places them in the mafia world of the late 1950s. It’s the perfect setting for a comedic battle of the sexes where love and war are often indistinguishable.  Tickets to Theater Wit’s production start at $5 plus service fees; 19 performances through May in total.

Giordano Dance Chicago tickets $17.50

unnamedTickets start at $17.50 on Goldstar for three performance dates:  March 27, 28 and 29 at 7:30 pm.  What the Bolshoi is to ballet, Giordano Dance Chicago is to jazz dance. No company exceeds GDC’s mastery of this “purely American art form” where, in the words of The New York Times, “taut body bodies ooze and slither and hurl across the stage in dance that is at once highly controlled and full of gutsy attack.” As the company returns to the Harris for its 52nd season, it remains as gutsy as ever, brimming with power, passion, athleticism and grace. Appropriately entitled Dare, its exhilarating spring series includes the stateside premiere of an inspiring full company piece, the only way around is through, as well as other contemporary classics that have made the company so beloved in Chicago and around the world.
