Ultra, Dollar General & Dominicks

photo.JPG
At Ultra we got another 11 bags of Kingsford charcoal, eight Planters peanut butters (rain check), four Bayer baby aspirin, these clearance Gerber organic baby food (using that B4G1 IP) and some crazy-high sugar-free orange marmalade for MIL.  Gerber food was $1.50 after coupon, which may or may not be a great price – they’re going to the pantry.  Ended up spending roughly $46, of which almost $5 was tax!  Cashier was impressed – I, however, was upset that I had to pay anything…

Dollar General for nine Clairol Balsam hair colors for $27.  Used the $5/$25 store coupon from the DG website and then $18 in mfr coupons.  OOP was $5.82 – lots of high tax.

Then to Dominicks for a couple of rotisserie chickens.  A couple ’cause guess who I ran into with the other three birds?  Rachel!  What a surprise.  Two chickens were $4 and low tax.  One went immediately into the stock pot and the second will follow in the morning.  I’ll check out the 63rd street store tomorrow for more, since it’s the last day the coupon is valid and two buck chickens are a thing of beauty.

Check your JFU price on the Ice Mountain 1L sparkling water – shelf price is $1 and my preferred price is  62¢.  Use the $1/2 coupon from 8/18 rp and pay 12¢ each.  Hey, I like free as much as anyone, but when it’s hot out, I can drink three of these in one day, easy!

Dollar General – ’cause you can never have too much cheese

photo.JPG
Hit up a couple of Dollar Generals to use up my 6/30 exp Capri Sun coupons; 2nd DG (Villa Park) didn’t have any of the Velveeta Toppers and had never even seen them, so that’s it for overage!  Picture shows only half the Capri Sun (rest already dropped off).

Each transaction came to slightly over $3.  I stacked about six times for the Kraft Buy 3 Get $2 Off promotion with no difficulty.  Had the first store carried more products I would probably never have left!

And yes, I coud probably have gotten the totals down to tax in each case, but I’m certainly happy with my total and sometimes it’s just not worth worrying about every penny (heresy?).

cheese mm at DG & get free Capri Sun (today only)

Starting today, Dollar General is running a Buy 3 Kraft products, get $2 off instantly promotion, which means some very, very good prices.  The Velveeta toppers are $1, which means three pouches of liquid cheese are $3, less the $2 instant savings and the coupon below.  Since we know that the deal will stack at least four times, depending on the number of computers you have, this could be some serious overage!

The Capri Sun big pouch is also part of the sale at $1 each.  If you hurry over to a DG today, you can use the B2G1 free coupon from the 4/21 S (it expires today).
$0.70 off any one VELVEETA Toppers
As always, Rachel has the entire match-up posted.  Me?  Too lazy, so I just post the freebie/extremely cheap stuff.  My recommendation would be to use the overage to get Kraft Singles for free…’cause you can never have too much cheese…

UntitledDollar General has a coupon for $10 OFF a $30+ purchase in lawn and garden, apparel, swim and summer toys & more – valid July 5th and 6th in-store or online.  Because by then we should see some form of summer weather, right?

looking for free Head & Shoulders…

Dave, the store manager at the Lombard Dollar General is super-friendly and easy to work with.  If you’ve been having difficulty locating any Head & Shoulders products small (read: cheap) enough to get for free using the $5/2 mfr coupon in the 6/16 rp, stop over and place an order.

Dollar General carries this smaller bottle of Head & Shoulders for $2.50.  Buy two, use the $5/2 coupon from 6/16 rp and you’re talking my language!  Check the larger Walmarts, too, because I believe they carry this smaller size for even less, so a MM for us!

Dollar General Saturday deal for cheap dog food

I signed up for the Dollar General emails because I forget to check on them and this is a fast and painless way to keep up – I’ve gotten some incredible bargains there in the past.  This week I’ll be using their $5 store coupon on Saturday (only day it’s valid) to get Beneful dog food for $2 a bag.  I’ll be honest here:  This is canine crack, but the price is right and I’ll heavily dilute it in the bin with Purina One to minimize the impact on the puppies’ digestive tracts (that’s the polite way to put it).

If you want to run the Beneful deal, it’s on sale this week for $5 a 3.5 bag.  Buy five bags to get to $25 so you can use their $5 store coupon and then hand over five $2 mfr coupons from 2/10S.  You’ll pay $10 for five bags.
