Walgreens 5/15 – Update!

This week’s Red Plum will contain a $2/1 Gillette body wash coupon, which pairs up with the BOGO from the May P&G insert.  Here’s how we line up our deal:

Buy Gillette body wash 3/$10, get 3 deodorants (BOGO May P&G).  Use $2 body wash coupons and get back $3 RR.  So $10 less $6 leaves you spending $4 and getting back a $3 RR.  Whaddaya think, is a buck too much for us to spend?

Heads up on the Scotch magic tape promotion:  Wags will once again be running that B1G2 deal, so print out more coupons (which don’t expire until 6/30/2011) and run with it.  Wheaton asks that you please let him know if you will be placing special orders, since there’s enough lead time to get sufficient supplies in.  This info applies to Lisle and Montgomery.

Here’s the 3q Magic from the prior post, so if you didn’t save it, download and get 3 coupons to a page (a great paper saver, right?).

Just noticed that the Glade spray will be on sale for .99.  There is a $1/1 coupon in the 4/3 S which expires 5/14.   Those stores that start their sales on Saturday?  Hit ’em hard and heavy.  Let us know which stores start early and at what time (we could call them, too), so we can stock up on this deal.

If you want to place orders, do so now so Steve can clear the warehouse well in advance of the sale.

    • Same as before: $1.99 for one, get two free, so print out the $1/1 coupons and use two for each transaction. The nice thing about this deal is that you aren’t running RRs, so do the entire number in one or two transactions. Using two coupons means that the second one in each set has to be reduced to 1.98 OR just figure out your tapes/coupons ratio and reduce the value on the last coupon (what I did last time).

  1. when does this deal start? and when can we start calling wags to place the orders? last time i was able to use $1 coupon for each tape and scored some overage to use on other items i wanted to buy. (purchased 6 tapes use 6 $1 coupons plus the wags coupon and 2 dozen eggs total of $0.86 plus i recv the 2 redbox movies.) i dont know if this was right or not but im just starting to coupon so let me know if i was wrong.

    • Technically, it’s wrong because Wags is not supposed to give overage, but in this, obviously, ymmv. I spoke with Steve about this today, ’cause let’s face it, this would be some serious overage on this deal, and he said that while another store may allow the three coupons, he wouldn’t feel comfortable doing this and will not be doing this. I think that it’s an easy thing to do when you are only buying a few tapes, but when you run deals like we do (240 tapes, anyone?), they would notice…rats…

      • ooops…I only did it 3x because i needed eggs but after i thaught about it i went with my conscience and did’nt do it again. i saw this at iheartwags and at the shoppershaul.com…. sooooo slap me on my hand and send me to my corner….

  2. or go for the overage and get soda or something else you might really need in addition to your great multitude of lint/dog hair removers
i heart was using 3 q’s and buying other RR items

  3. I did several last time with 3 coupons. I thought you could attach a coupon to each item??? Blink… blink… Oopsie! I Heart Wags!

  4. ooop…I only did it 3x because i needed eggs but that is all. i saw this at iheartwags and at the shoppershaul.com. sooooo slap me on my hand…..

  5. Do we pay for 3 at a time or do 9 or 12 or more? Is there a limit per transaction? I wasn’t sure what you meant. Thanks. I want to order a lot and if I could do 12 in each transaction it would be easy and fats.

    • Since this isn’t an RR transaction, you can do as many as you’d like. In other others, if you want 150 in one transaction, go for it (although you would definitely have to have a special order placed). I ended up with over 200, but only because Lisle needed to get rid of extra. I figure we can use them as old-fashioned lint removers. I mean, that’s what we all used before a single-purpose product was developed, right?

  6. I would love to get the McHenry Walgreens to order enough stock! I have gone in there on a Sunday morning at 8am and found the B1G1F body washes, etc. sold out already. I am kind of shy to ask them to order extra for fear of being shot down. I hate being told NO. How do you get your stores to order extra?

    • Well, the good news is that stores in other districts are starting to take notice of the buying power we, as couponers, yield; Wheaton has fielded calls from other stores envious of his numbers. Green enough to make the necessary changes in attitude? Well, we’ll see about that… Although it’s a drive for you, on the great MM deals, it’s worth it to place a large special order, have a specified time for pick up and to make a day trip out of it. Plan a restaurant visit or Morton Arboretum, etc. and it won’t be such a hardship. Be creative!

    • ‘talk’ to Becky, she is almost in your backyard…when they see 2 come in, maybe at the same time, imo, that would convince them you are for real about this and would take quantity

  7. I just went to the Walgreens in Danada, and the Gillette bodywash is nowhere near 3/$10. Is that sale over? If so, should I hang onto those 3 you gave me along with that $2/1 bodywash that I have?

    • Yes, Justin, Walgreen sales run Sunday through Saturday. While some stores may have the Sunday sales start earlier on Saturday, any Register Rewards will not print until Sunday – and don’t bother testing this. Hang on to the coupons if you wish; 30 or 40 Gillette body washes are sufficient for my family.

      • Ya, I’m good too on body wash, but I don’t have any extra deodorant, just what I’m using. I can always just go buy some at Walgreens if I really need to, which I never actually noticed how cheap some of their sales are. I thought Walgreens was almost like a 711, where you only buy stuff there for the convenience.
