Vegas – Out, About and Farewell

A collection of shots that don’t need their own post, but still are nice to see.  Once we grabbed bus passes from one of the many machines, we were able to travel beyond the Strip limits.  Got free Covid testing on Wednesday.  If you aren’t interested in car rentals, the bus is hands-down the way to go, especially since they’re clean, quiet (natural gas), nicely air-conditioned, run frequently and have Free Wi-Fi!

Caesar’s Palace Forum.  Place went on and on and on; had to leave while I still had life force remaining. Love how ceilings are painted like skies and now it’s twilight.  Not sure which fountain this was (Atlantis?!  Did they find Solon’s lost travelogues?). If you’re interested in employment (every place was plastered with hiring signs), Caesar’s owns about 187,000 casinos (well, that’s what it looked like to me) with their own big-ass hiring center.

The Venetian canal, gondolas with another hundred shops selling the same crap.  If you want to pay $29 for twelve minutes of water activity, go for it.  Might be romantic if you hadn’t given birth to your travel companion.  I like the smell of water inside – as long as it doesn’t involve flood warnings.

Excalibur, Luxor and New York, New York.  Wandered through NY, NY, but the relationship between resort and city seemed even more tenuous than Paris, Vegas and Paris, France.

Looking for slightly cheaper stays, here’s a Travelodge and OYO (formerly Hooters) shot from the bus – didn’t know they still had Travelodges!

Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop.  Pricey, but a couple of enormous scoops for about $8 (do not know how someone could eat the large).  Never been in one before, but they offer some flavors not found in pints.  which doesn’t mean i didn’t choose Cherry Garcia 🙂 The view from our floor’s elevator bank – nothing like Chicago!

Fremont St Experience – zip lines above so you’re startled every time someone flies by!  Sent this kiosk shot to FirstBorn who’s been itching to return to Vegas.  It was a sign – literally 🙂 No photos of the mostly-naked performers, since they charge and I like cash more than women in pasties and dental floss “whipping” audience members.  why people take kids with them …

Rode glass elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower – waste of time and money, even with half-price tickets.  You are surrounded by thick fencing with one tiny cut out per section, so no way to get a panoramic picture or video that doesn’t look like a prison shot.  Our room’s view was way better, didn’t have to pay extra and it came wind-free.

Last meal before packing up; croissants to-go along with a toasted bagel, slabs of cream cheese, capers, red onion and tomato slices and smoked salmon plus the included fresh fruit salad.  Yup, Ocean One.
