The Goddess went down to Aldi…

she was looking for some fruit to steal… or not, as the case may be.  You are looking at $6.31 worth of fruit.  For .20 more a pound you can get Chiquita bananas at Jewel.

Why did I hit Aldi in the first place?  I had read on other boards that they had really decent, fresh and tasty fruit for cheap. ha I say, ha squared.  Each piece of fruit was .49.  Back at Jewel I can pay with my RRs; Aldi expects the green stuff.

  1. and Aldi’s produce is always kinda sketchy at best. Every time I’ve looked at their broccoli, I can’t tell if it’s rubbery toy broccoli or actually meant to be eaten.

  2. No grapes for you? Cheaper than Jewel and Dom. Strawberries is not a bad price either $1.99 comparing with $2.99? at other places.

    • Actually, Jewel had a better deal on the grapes (although it might have only been my store). Maybe ’cause I had looked at Aldi’s last week’s ad and the peaches, etc. were all .29 – now they’ve jumped up to .49? And how is this an everyday, stock-up price then? Sounds like they’re running sales just like every other store. Sorry, but that was my Aldi excursion for the next year or so.

      • It must be your Jewel only. The two stores near me are on sale for $1.28/lb. Not a bad deal but Aldi is $1.58 for 2 lbs.

  3. I went too! It was next door to Staples and we were getting back to school stuff. I haven’t bought fruit there before, but it looked decent. Prices were not bad, but I don’t have the Jewel luxury stores around me. I haven’t actually ventured over to meat. Anyone try that???

  4. Strawberries are where it’s at at Aldi. $1 all summer long. Are 40% of the packages molded/rotted in a few places? Yes. But that leaves 60% of them fine! Besides, mold isn’t like mold on most things, it’s just topical, you can wash it off.

    • Because if you don’t get to them immediately, the mold will spread through the entire clamshell and then even your buck will be tossed. Sometimes I buy stuff planning for immediate use, but life intervenes.
