Groupon

Today’s Groupon is for Domo 77 and is the usual $50 voucher for $25.  A hibachi steak and seafood restaurant on Naper Blvd in Wheaton, it’s located next to the new Wags – and you all know where that is…

Deets:  Expires Sep 3, 2011;  limit two per person; limit 1 per table; limit 1 per visit. Reservation required. Dine-in only. Must purchase a food item. Not valid for lunch special. Not valid on 5/8. Not valid with other offers.

Groupon Disc Replay

I’ve been in the DG location; if you have kids you’ve probably been in places like this, too.  Frankly, I see no difference between one shoot ’em up game and another, but they’re apparently “different” enough to run half a lung.

For $10 you get $20 in vouchers to a wonderland of used movies, cds and games in Disc Replay.  I’ve seen the same, just released, games here and next door at Best Buy.  Difference (besides price)?  Person sat up all night, beat the game and now it’s old.  on to the next…

Deets:  expires Sep 2, 2011; limit two per person, may buy multiple as gifts; limit one per visit. In-store only.  Must use in one visit, no cash back.

The Bleu Olive – Groupon

Ignore the cutesy writing – Groupon definitely needs to find a better class of writers.  Having said that, The Bleu Olive Groupon is in downtown Wheaton, very close to many of you.  The usual $20 voucher for $10 deal.  I like the idea of different olive oils because they do all have flavor variations and have splurged in the past.  Having said that, I cannot bring more oil into the house because of my stock ups during the Meijer freebie sale (Pompeian oil) and Jewel .50 days (Wesson).  And yes, we are talking cases here…

Deets:  expires Aug 29, 2011; limit two per person, may buy two additional as gifts; limit one per visit; limit one per day; in-store only.

Groupon Redbox 3 DVDs for a buck

Since the Redbox deal they ran was such a big hit, Groupon’s running one again, timing it with the Academy Awards.  Deal will run from now until Tuesday at midnight.

Deets:  Not valid on Blu-ray or video games; expires Jun 1, 2011; limit 1 per person, may buy 2 additional as gifts. May redeem across visits. Tax included.

Chicago Tribune Groupon – MOVE, Peeps

I only checked because I was sure it would be a rip-off: it’s not! You can get 1 year of the Chicago Tribune Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sunday delivery for $26.  We’re talking .50/week, which is a fantastic way to start building up inserts.

Advice?  Since it says one per, your house has now magically added Unit 1A, 1B (or any combo that you prefer); use your name, “gift” one to your husband, son, daughter, however and whoever you want.  The “gifts” will all be paid for by you anyway.  The delivery service has no concern with any of that:  they’ll just dump the paper(s) near the front door or in your driveway.

Deets:   Expires Feb 27, 2011; limit one person, may buy additional as gifts. Limit one per household.  Must provide mailing address and phone number at checkout.  New subscribers only, or those who have not received home delivery in the past 30 day

Groupon

I’ve driven by this place tons of times, and I never knew what it was:  dining; sports bar; dining-sports bar?  Apparently it’s a video-dining-sports bar place where people play games on various platforms.  At first I thought it was restricted to 21 and over, but the homepage says parental consent required, so obviously not an alcohol-infused atmosphere on the gaming side.  Might be a cool idea for a slightly-older kids party…

Today’s Groupon is for Game Pazzo in Downers Grove and the deal is your choice of $35 for a 10-hour gaming punch card plus 10 free games ($80 value) or $10 for $20 worth of sandwiches, drinks and more at the Game Pazzo restaurant and bar.

Deets:   Expires in one year; limit 0ne per person, may buy three additional as gifts for punch card option, two additional as gifts for cafe fare option; limit one per visit.  Valid only for option purchased.  May split Groupon between multiple people (this is what, imo, makes it a cool party idea). Redeemable across visits.

Groupons

There’s tons of great deals in Grouponland today, so I’ll start with the one I’m going for: $65 for an interior and exterior professional detail and Sealtek paint sealant from Delta Sonic (up to a $149.99 value) ’cause I promised I’d get those strange stains out The Boy’s car.  ’nuff said…

Gelati in downtown Naperville has $10 worth of “stuff” for $5.  Deets: Vouchers expires May 24, 2011; limit three vouchers per person; limit one voucher per visit. Not valid with other offers.

Last and certainly not least is a cause dear to my heart:  theater!!  This Groupon is for $40 worth of tickets for $20 to North Central College Fine & Performing Arts Center 2011 season.  Deets: Limit two per person, may buy two additional vouchers as gifts; limit one voucher per visit; expires June 1, 2011.

Blueberry Hill brunch deal – Sold Out

Today’s sidebar Groupon is for $7 for a $15 voucher to any of Blueberry Hill‘s five locations (Homer Glen, Darien, LaGrange, Homewood and Aurora).  If you are near any of these locations, you might want to jump on this quickly, as they’ve already sold 3,000 of these vouchers.

  • Blueberry-hill

Deets:  Limit 2 vouchers per person, 1 per table, 1 per visit.  Dine-in only.  Tax and tip not included.  Vouchers expire August 23, 2011.

Note: As I said, this is a right sidebar deal and I haven’t figured out how to link directly to it.  grrr.  will work on this in my spare time.

Blockbuster Express

Another one of these debated posts:  Is $2 for five rentals really such a deal? Click and see.  There’s always codes for free rentals at Blockbuster Express and Redbox, plus that wonderful institution known as the public library.  That said, you can place a hold on a DVD through Blockbuster, which is kind of cool.  Free codes aren’t worth squat if you have to stand there looking through a bunch of junk…

Groupon claims to have enough of these vouchers to enable them to run it through the week-end, but there are no guarantees. Inventory is limited, act fast, operators are stand…. sorry about that.  Value of the voucher drops to $2 after May 1, 2013.  like it’s gonna get that old in anyone’s house!  Limit one per person, multiples as gifts (hint, hint).  Note that this deal says “Atlanta” but is, in fact, a nationwide promotion, so no road trips…

$200 Groupon

I wasn’t going to post this, but then realized that if any of you are looking to dump the lump and get a new mattress (thought I was gonna was say DH, right?) this might be worthwhile.  It’s certainly a discount!  $50 for a $200 voucher towards the purchase of a mattress set at Back to Bed is the daily deal at Groupon.  I “purchased” a queen pillow-top set for $499 before the voucher, if that helps any.  You have nothing to lose by clicking on the link and browsing.

Deets:  Limit 1 per set; in-store only.  Voucher expires August 22, 2011.  Valid for sale items.  Shipping, delivery and tax not included (duh), but if you tie the mattress to the top of your car, you can pretend you’re heading back to the trailer park.
