Swagbucks

Most of you are savvy enough to have signed up for Swagbucks back when Jesus was an affiliate, but for those of you who never bothered (like me, for years), here’s a nice linky-poo to help you along.

Swagbucks is a search engine that claims to be a full-search engine.  It pulls up sponsored sites for the first few choices, but I think they’ve improved their engine over the past six months.  When I search for sites it gets me those sites or at the least to Wikipedia.

Having said that, I use it mainly for when I’m going to sites for which I already know the address.  After a certain number of searches you earn 5, 6, 7, up to 11 swagbucks, which are automatically deposited into your account (and randomly a larger amount – MUM got 38 SB the other day).  Fridays are Mega Swagbucks days; more points/more often.  You use SB to purchase things at the swagstore.  Easy, huh?  There are often alerts to earn extra swagbucks code by choosing sides on contest (favorite TV mom is a current one).  I choose the $5 Amazon gift card which costs 450 Swagbucks.  Visit the store, buy the card and the code is emailed to you.  You apply the code to your Amazon account in the gift card section and boom!  You have an additional $5 to spend on stuff.  And believe me, the points do add up fairly quickly.  This is how I buy my coffee, etc. on Amazon for free.

So what, it’s only five bucks!  True, but I’m not doing anything other than my usual searches:  I’ve never downloaded their toolbar, I don’t watch the dumb TV and have only attempted one or two surveys (for which I failed to qualify, I might add) – all the things that bring the most points.  There are actually people out there who try to earn 500 swagbucks a day.  So let’s see, spend all day running commercials, trying out for surveys, watching swagbucks TV to earn the munificent sum of ……..five bucks… pass
