Stockpile photos

The past few hours PITA and I have been arranging stuff in the basement, attempting to bring order from chaos.  Here’s a quick peak at the rack of some of our personal toiletries; deodorant, toothbrushes, dental floss are all in adjoining room, along with stockpile sale items.  Try to calculate how much I was paid to take this stuff.

If they would only recall the Sinex, PITA and I would be cruising…

And all the detergent in the photo on the right?  I’ll probably end up selling it or giving it away, ’cause let’s face it, I’m not that clean.

  1. lmao! a Sinex recall would be awesome! I think I got $30 each for the last two McNeil (Tylenol, Advil, followed by Rolaids) recall. I also got about $20 for the Activia class action. Can I cruise with you and PITA?

  2. I just LOVE the stockpile photos! I have been slowly clearly out spaces and stacking, sorting, and laughing! (& hiding some of the excess, well — behind the excess! … As the ole family just doesn’t quite “get it.”) Your photo is totally amazing!!! I am still building my stockpiles, as a 2011 Coupon Virgin, and am shocked at how much space I do have. This photo with the stacking racks is a great idea and the true definition of ‘good use of space!’ As always, thanks for sharing!!!

  3. I am not as enthralled as others. Don’t misunderstand me… I love couponing. I feel as though I have saved my family a lot of money. I don’t see how you can keep that much product within its expiration dates for an average size family. (admittedly, I don’t know how big your family is) I have enjoyed donated my excess to our church food pantry. It makes me feel good to help out others who are in tight situations, especially due to the economy. Unless you keep good control of your stock to ensure use before they expire, or you have a huge family… it seems you could do some good by donating it instead of making more room.

    • I could be snarky here and just tell you off in my own inimitable fashion, but I’ll attempt to be serious. My family consists of four two-legged and numerous four-legged creatures. The items on the shelves are, for the most part, items that we will use up long before any possible expiration date would come up. Hair color? I have enough hair color to last 18 months. Excessive? Possibly, but the first time you stock up enough for six or nine months, based on prior sale schedules is the first time the manufacturers shift to a yearly one. And let’s face it, hair color can’t go bad, it’s bad to start with! Gummy vitamins are gradually getting whittled down to zero. I would have taken another hundred of them had I known how quickly they would disappear. Body wash and bar soap are staples and I stock up as often as they are MMs. Toothpaste? Yeah, it’s a lot, but, as with the Sinex, they’re paying me to take it home! I’d hate to disappoint them and leave it on the shelf.

On the donating aspect…I don’t donate any more, at least not to the food pantry. I volunteered at our local one for five years; when I started donating, heavily after a break of years, I was shocked to see the same people coming in. Those same people who visit three, four and even five local pantries. Many of the people who go to shelters have no interest in using coupons, sales or catalinas – they just want free stuff. I see no reason to do all the work for these freeloaders: buy the papers, hunt the deals, place special orders, clip the coupons, drive to the stores, deliver stuff to the pantry on the days/hours acceptable to them… you get my point. Obviously, there are some hard-working people out there who could use the toiletries, etc. you donate. I prefer to offer my stuff to those people directly for very little cash. My tax is paid and they don’t feel like they’re getting a handout; they’re proud that way.

  4. I LOVE YOU! You are definately the Goddess! I also know that you do an amazing job with the resources you are intelligent enough to accumulate… may you always use your brilliant mind!
