I spoke with John at CVS about allowing drop offs for this cause. It’s a complete no-go because of corporate policy: NO ONE is allow to solicit, That’s why you won’t see the Salvation Army bell ringers or signs on the doors for lost dogs, etc. Sorry, but there is absolutely nothing he can do about this. So where are we at for drop off locations, etc.?
Rhonda, a reader and a frequent commenter, sent me the following email request:
Recently, I have been posting some of my finds on your blog. Normally, I’m don’t do the crazy couponing, but I have a very sweet reason for all my crazy couponing. It’s kind of exciting too. One of my co-workers, who has a 7 year old daughter has requested that her family and friends not give her any birthday presents. Instead, she has requested that they make donations to Lambs Fold, a battered women’s shelter in Joliet. It has really touched my heart that such a young person could be so selfless. I have been working very hard to get her everything that I can for to donate. I would appreciate it it so much if you could reach out to your friends, followers, fellow bloggers, and families to see if they would be interested in making a donation to Lambs Fold in the name of Jillian.
I assume she means stockpile donations, ’cause I haven’t seen the cash cow in some time. It’s a worthy request, so I’ll be the first to donate. How about 25 or 30 Revlon nail polishes – decent colors? Taking time for yourself, just as a pamper-me type event, would probably go a long way towards rebuilding self-esteem. And as MUM knows, I can also bring my trusty orange Whiffle bat for ex’s if asked.
Let us know what you all think and if you’d be able to help. Also, there would have to be a central pick-up/drop off location, since not only is Joliet not convenient for so many of you, but they usually keep the location of these houses a secret.
Well since I’m in Joliet and travel up and down 55 every other week, I am willing to transport.
I also have a BUTTLOAD of travel size toiletries I can donate.
So sign me up!
Oh, that’s right, those little Perts! I probably have a few still hanging around and I don’t think finding deodorant will be a problem! And how come nobody ever wants to see me go after ex’s with my trusty whiffle bat? hmmm?
Change to a metal bat or a sledge hammer and we can talk.
Yes…the perts….
you can beat my ex with absolutely anything you want. 😛
Mine too!
I can ask John if donations can be dropped off at the store?
Emily, did John okay a drop off at the store?
baby wipes (!) would be perfect for Lamb’s Fold. At Christmas time, my daughter’s class instead of giving each other little gifts, decided to collect items to give to Lamb’s Fold. The items they were asking for were diapers and baby wipes.
Thank you all sooooo much! Yes, I was referring to your stock pile. I live in Naperville and would be will to pick the items up.
Hi Rhonda, I would love to donate some items. I can bring them to work and you an pick them up from me next time you stop in 🙂 thanks for doing this.
Yes, please. I would be happy to come pick them up. Just let me know when. Jillian’s birthday party is on March 7th and that’s when they will be taking over all of the donations. I just sent her a trunk load of stuff and she was so excited. She is such a precious little girl.
Yesterday, I picked up the items that you donated. Thanks so much!
I have some items to donate. Please share my e-mail.
Donna’s email is [email protected].
Valerie,
Thanks so much for for all the donations that you dropped off this morning. Jillian will be so excited to see everything that you brought.
My pleasure, Rhonda. :o) Please wish Jillian a very Happy Birthday. I’m so proud of her.
Count me in. If a drop off location in the western suburbs is arranged, that would be great. If not, we can figure something out. What a special little girl.
For those of you that are willing, I can meet you anywhere that is convenient for you.
Email me and I can give you my phone number.
If you’re willing to drop off tomorrow, you can drop off at my work between 8:30 and 5:00.
Here’s the drop off info:
