Normally I would have just picked up the big boys and paid the extra buck, but I was not feeling the love after all the Fresh Summertime Fun booklets were pulled; I’ll just slap two juniors together! Also picked up 26 more packs of Gillette disposable razors. The same 6/3 P&G insert contains a BOGO for Daisy and/or Venus women’s disposables (up to $14.99) and they’re also on BOGO sale, so figured why not?! Lots of store cats spitting out FREE eggs, FREE oral care (trial size Crest), $1 hair care ($1 Suave), $1 body care (Suave body wash), $1 produce, $1.50 chips or pretzels (Doritos snack size) and the $10/$100 one which allowed me to buy the Olive Bar container, cream and the rest of the stuff like mangoes. Used 26 of the $1 Stockman & Dakota coupons (expire today!), three of the $1 Essemtial Everday for the $1 catsups. Also used 1 $2 and $1 OYNO that PITA found. Actual cash I paid…wait, I used one of the $2 Ecotrin…and the rest – $8.66 – was tax.
Receipt shows Today’s Total Savings $277.67. That is a savings of 100%. and that’s just how the Goddess rolls…
So what your saying is that it’s pretty much pointless to go to the Lisle Jewel for razors? LOL. Just wondering if I should save the gas and not bother …
Uh, yep, that’s right. I did tell the Asst mgr to order tons of both the men’s and women’s razors, which will be placed tomorrow for Friday (?) delivery. The sale goes through the 15th and the coupon is good through the 30th. I’ve got you all covered. If for some reason stuff doesn’t come in, you can “buy” the products, use your coupons and then pick up the products when they come it. That way, there’s no worry about coupons expiring.

No, you meant your manager is an idiot who has never read the Jewel coupon policy – either current or new one. Good idea to call corporate; they can put her on the “special” managers list.
I couldn’t get either of my Jewel’s to accept the Stockman coupon on the fresh burgers. Even though it didn’t specify frozen or fresh. They both just said look at the picture. grrrr.
An employee commented to me that just going by the picture would be ridiculous because on the Essential Everyday coupon it only shows a few items.
Do you know how late the meat counter is open at the Lisle Jewel? The coupons expire today. I may try to get there at the end of the day. Since that seems to be the only reasonable location.
No, I never paid attention to it before. I do know that even after the butcher is gone there is someone there for a couple of hours before close (midnight). I wouldn’t wait much past seven, though, or you’ll be stuck with the pre-packed, which aren’t S&D.

Went to the Jewel on Maple in Downers last night to buy the razors, I was only buying 4 using 2 coupons. Cashier pulls out her glasses so she can read the fine print to tell me it says 1 coupon per purchase. Now I didn’t want to argue with her about the difference between purchase and transaction so I said ok, I will buy them seperately. So then she proceeds to blow her head up, she didn’t know how to delete them, so of course the manager has to come over and the chick behind is giving me dirty looks. What an ordeal, and of course I am left feeling like I held the place up. Why do they not spend like 5 minutes teaching these people their coupon policy and the difference between purchase and transaction!!!
What Jewel on Maple in Downers? The only Jewel is on Main and 63rd, is that the one? While I’ve never, ever experienced issues there, I have heard that they’re not terribly friendly towards couponers.
And as for why no training? Seriously? Super-valu is cutting back hours and staff beyond belief: The two-weeks training on the new registers ended up being a few hours. Try stopping in a Jewel after 10 pm and see how few cashiers are available.
Yeah I meant Main and 63rd. I always have problems there, always. I think they train the cashiers in how to try and find ways not to take coupons. I just need to start going to the Jewel on Ogden and Saratoga, they are much nicer there.
The Jewel in New Lenox would not let me use the coupon for the pub burgers. I am going to Lisle tonight hopefully I will have no problems .
Just as long as you make sure you get them individually wrapped from the butcher. I took the junior burgers for a buck, but if you only have a couple of coupons, you might be happier with the larger $2 pub burgers, which are, I believe, a half pound each.
I have about 35 coupons. Will they let me get that many?
I don’t know at this point. Really depends on how nice you are, frankly. Someone was in yesterday (I think) who insisted he could have as many as he wanted (he wanted 40) and when they tried to limit him to ten, he got pissy and insisted on seeing the store manager, etc. They ended up giving him 20. Had he been more reasonable and maybe done in smaller multiples it would have worked out. Once you start insisting on your “rights” you’ve lost the game.
Just left and got the last 24! Very happy.
