Okay, here’s the picture of the ad once again so you can follow this in pictures. Only shelf tags received for this sale (on Jewel items) were for the Bounty, Charmin and Tide – the hugely overpriced items in which we have no interest. Now I can see a store posting an ad disclaimer for one or two or even three items, but to claim that only three items are part of this instant savings?
In the past, when something similar (though not on as large a scale) has happened, Jewel has honored all those items pictured, but these are new owners. However, because they are new owners, can they really afford the shitstorm of bad – and I mean really, really bad – publicity when first the media and then the Attorneys General start looking into bait and switch or whatever they’re calling it now. Hey, everybody, come on in for these great deals. Hey, everybody, 12 of the 15 products pictured in the ad really aren’t part of the deal; they’re just showing all the cool stuff that P&G manufactures…and even though we all approved this ad beforehand, we didn’t pay close attention to all those pesky details
yeah, right.
P& G only moves their products with big promotions-who would pay their everyday prices–not us. Now that
energy prices are back up, they are hurting more than usual —
their inputs are petroleum based and the consumer has
limited disposable income.
The C suites at both companies really blew this one badly–they do not understand couponing very well!!!
But the ad clearly states “participating P&G products include the items below”. So, they’d really call the other 12 items a mistake and not honor the deal then? Doubt it. I think we’ll be ok here.
