Reader emails me about this new store, Shop & Save, a chain with a store in Downers Grove on Lemont & 75th (across from Ultra, in the former Michael’s Produce location).  I go online and the prices are very decent with a couple of great ones – Nutella for $2.29 anyone?  Well, only if I can use the $1 coupon from 8/11 rp.

Yes, Shop & Save accepts insert, but not printable coupons.  Certainly something we can work with.  Produce section is awesome, as is the deli, bakery and gelato/sorbet stand.

Wide assortment of “ethnic” cheeses, pastries and deli items – I believe the chain was started with Polish imports in mind, because they still offer a large selection.  I’l be picking up the paneer for Indian cuisine (with creamed spinach it’s a total yum-fest).  They had a special on parmesian cheese:  $3.99 a bag.  heck yeah, i took one!

Here’s PITA in front of the reduced produce section – she’s holding a package of garlic heads. The sliced portabello mushrooms in the first picture were only 99 a tray! And you can never have too many mushrooms I always say.

Next week’s ad (starting tomorrow) has niagara 24 pk water 5/$10, rotisserie chicken for $2.99 each (free after the Jewel coupon), Oberweiss milk (all varieties, including chocolate) for $2.99, Palermo Classics pizza at 5/$10 and an 8.8 oz package of Pima ground coffee for $1.99.  Seriously, if that coffee price is legit, I’ll pick one up and try it before commiting to one or two hundred more.
