Started off the day with my wonderful FREE Panera breakfast sandwich. Then off to see what I could scrounge up at Meijer. Sadly, they were out of the Bestlife buttery spread, but since I still have about 40 between the freezers and refrigerators, I can make it through the drought. They were also out of the Purina chewy things (.96/each, get 4 for free), but again, got lots last week, so the dogs can wait. Since I was there, I decided to check the selection of Nivea lip products, the same ones that are on sale at Wags this week for a buck. Mostly the same selection, but they did have the Rejuvenation Q10 balms as part of the .99 deal. Took 4. Also grabbed another of the Good Start ready mix formula since it was $5 and I had another $5 coupon. What I was really interested in, though, was the Fast Shake pancake mix. It’s on a 50% off sale, so .49, but then there is a .25 hangtag on some of the containers. Still not low enough for me, so I checked and there are $1/3 coupons on the Meijermealbox site (If you have never used this site before, the coupons are on the right hand side under specials. Click and add to shopping list, then print). So I ended up getting 9, used 6 hangtags and 3 MM coupons. Note: If you are unable to find any containers with hangtags, don’t despair: using the MM coupons will reduce your cost to less than .50/3, an excellent price.) Because the MM coupons are store coupons, they reduce the entire price, meaning less tax, so could only use 6 of the mfr coupons or I’d go into tax (this is definitely “Danger Will Robinson” territory). I ended up with .60 OOP, of which .45 was tax. Don’t forget that while free is good, the tax’ll eat you alive. Nivea products are obviously not food and, thus, are high tax – most of the tax I paid was on the Nivea. Something to always remember when doing your deals.
