Oh, Meijers, I am so over you now. You lure customers in with promises of low prices and huge savings, all in a huge store. Well, I decided to drive over to check out the Gain freebie, Purina dog freebie and the Friskies freebies.
Still out of the Purina, they did have quite a supply of the Bestlife spread – back up to the $2.19 price – got 11 of the Friskies treats. On to the Gain debacle…ran the deal three times: 3 gain each transaction. First one went smoothly, but it was a damned STORE cat that printed out; I hadn’t read last night’s post clarifying this. So used the cat to pay for the second transaction – which then didn’t produce a cat (rather like Wags). Third transaction didn’t produce a cat, didn’t give me my mperks $2 coupon and the damned bananas were .10/lb more than at Ultra. I did not realize until setting up the bottles for the photo that two of them are just slightly smaller (really slightly smaller), so even though they were all mixed in on the same shelf and marked as part of the same sale, their UPC must not produce the cat; also the mPerks needed to be added to my “shopping list” and then saved on my account. Having it on my phone alone does no good. Again, I don’t shop there often enough to know the little idiosyncrasies involved.
Bottom line? Had I known, I would never have driven there for cat treats; next time I’ll just get the small bottle for free at Wal Mart. OOP ended up at $13.65. On a positive note, however, I used my Discover card and got cash back (to use at Jewel and garage sales), so let them eat the service charge! yes, i am petty and take my revenge where i can
