Been a couple of years since we shopped garage sales – huge change from pre-Covid days. Saw a sign on the way to COD, stopped after and picked up these beauties: a pile of silver-plated spoons and odd gizmos (my vice), imitation ivory chopsticks (something we can use) and this weird ceramic cigarette holder/ashtray from, I believe, 1930s Japan (marked Made in Japan on bottom). This will be a belated birthday gift to FirstBorn, who celebrated – or not – while we were in Vegas. He doesn’t smoke, but I think he’ll find it interesting. So hard to shop for people who can just buy whatever they want whenever they want it, right?
