Pita found a $3 Ibotta rebate for the Chosen mayo I bought for $2. Limit two, but heck, I made $2 on the deal!
Probably more clearance stuff, but there’s a limit to the amount of time I want to spend shopping. Definitely stocked for at least a year on brown and white rice! Most everything was 75% off, but pasta and olive oil was only 50% off, so a hard pass for me 🙁 Make sure to check each and every date ’cause we brought up a bunch of expired stuff to the front desk.

This reminded me of my brown rice I got for 50c a bag last year on that awesome sale. We got quite a few of those and last time I went to scoop some out of my canister, there were tons of bugs in there! I’ve never seen that with rice before. Those bags have tiny pin holes in them, so who knows if they came with eggs in them from store or developed them here at home? We pitched that batch and opened a new bag (stored in rubber maid in basement) and it was fine. Ended up throwing out the buggy canisters because they were old and seals were iffy? I was happy we only paid 50c for them at Jewel but still hated to find those nasty bugs!
Was just talking about this with both DH and FirstBorn, but fingers crossed that storing them in totes will help. DH claimed he’d seen rice turned to dust, but I think he’s confusing some History Channel fantasy with real life :). We have maybe 2 of the cheap brown rice bags from that sale and no white rice, so this clearance was a godsend!
We found the 5 lb. bags of Jewel brand brown rice priced 75% off for $1.25 each, bought 2! For this price, I will chance the bugs. Also had way expired 1 pound boxes of Riceland brown @ 37c each. Thanks for the warning! I’m making rice pudding tonight and hubby found 5 clearance frozen PF Changs chicken fried rice in Kroger clearance for 95c each. Will be adding stuff/more rice to those for future meals.
Heads up: our Jewel said they are out of onion rings because they are discontinued but they gave us rain checks to get 99c bags of Nathan’s or Jewel fries instead. Just waiting until they get those in stock. They are also out of those Green Giant frozen riced cauliflower, with digital 89c plus I found tear pad for $1.25/2, makes those 27c each when you combine both deals! Naturally they are out of those now too!
