Jewel .31 and a shocker

I spent the afternoon watching over the puppy shop while a friend ran errands.  Good thing that the browsers asked questions about the only couple of dogs I remember.  Breed?  Age?  way too demanding, these customers.  you can now understand why i don’t work in the service sector…

So, apparently the house elves took off with all the tortillas since no one in my family ever eats or uses up anything (yes, that’s right, I’ve got ’em too, the one teaspoon of milk in the gallon container – but it’s not empty!), so ran to Jewel to get more.  Might as well get some more brats, too.  Paid $3.31 using cash and 3 of the $1 cats from prior sales and got back 3 $1 cats…go figure.

And now for a shocker….I had a long conversation with a store manager the other day about the use of wine tags – good or evil from the store’s perspective.  Apparently there really isn’t much difference between the Jewel brat coupon and the mfr brat coupon (I specifically used this as an example).  The promotion is somehow managed by Bud (in this case) and the store gets credit for each wt that scans.  If it scans, they get credit for it.  Understand?  Don’t feel guilty and feel that you are somehow going to singlehandedly bring about the fall of Supervalu or otherwise reduce ole Craig’s 2010 bonus.  Ain’t gonna happen.  I asked, well what if it were not just one or two or even a couple hundred OR A THOUSAND Jewel/Bud brat wts redeemed?  This is where one of the parties gets a strange look in their eye and starts facing shelves…in other words, it doesn’t matter at all.  I should say that this manager has been in management for years, at numerous stores, and continues to work up the ladder – they know their stuff.

You may believe what you wish, of course, but if I am told by management to back up the truck, I am going to assume that there is no hidden meaning in that statement.

    • While not a MM, this week (4/17) has two ss and two rp, one of which contains a $1/2 Capn Crunch. Since Wags has lots of those smaller Crunch cereal boxes on the clearance endcap for .50, we talking about free roadtrip munchies! Don’t bother with the Wheaton Wags…just sayin’.

  1. So did you go to the manager to get this approved forst for the JVille brats? I grabbed a couple of those but have never tried the beer ones as the booze ht at least say NO ALCOHOL PURCHASE NECESSARY……… these are great coupons then.

    • Nope, no mgr approval was necessary. But if you are running this deal, DO IT TODAY as the $1 OYNO ends today (according to the shelf tag). I’m heading on out again later to pick up more of the Mrs. T’s and the brats.
