As I vented in an earlier post, both PITA and my debit cards were hacked within a couple of weeks – in her case (these were both Uber charges, btw) using a debit card that had supposedly been deactivated by First American Bank six months ago.  I’ve never ridden Uber and she hasn’t in over two years; doesn’t even have the APP on her phone.  Although it pained me to even think about moving after twenty years, I started looking around for a bank that offered everything we use, like mobile and online banking, BillPay, remote deposits, etc. PLUS was willing to pay me to open an account!  You’ve probably all heard radio commercials for Wintrust Bank, but I only heard wealth management and it sounded like a place where they wouldn’t even let me in the door.  Open a checking account with $100 and have direct deposit totaling $500 a month and you’ll get a $300 bonus after a few months.  I walked out with a new debit card, some temporary checks and everything already set up online and on the APP.

If you want another bonus (this one only $200), open a savings account with $15,000 or more and after the three months you get your bonus.  I need to stop back for that one since I don’t normally carry more than $10,000 🙂  PITA is doing the checking account as well – vacation money for Spring Break!

Check out any of the Wintrust branch locations – I used Community Bank of Downers Grove and it was actually faster than driving to First American down the street, which shocked us.  Our wonderful personal banker was Tiffany, who has probably already submitted her resignation 🙂
