Hello, Jewel, long time no see

Since I was heading back for the Brawny and All deal, figured I’d get some of my cash back on the dog food and Bounty purchase.  Only had four of the $1.50 Kibbles coupons, so have to hunt up eight more.  I’ve got 60 days, so I’m sure I’ll find them.  Used six $1 All coupons and a $5 Brawny coupon from Blogher.  The transaction cost me a total of $16.73, but I got back a $10 cat.  Let’s call it $6.73 then.

Picked up 30 of the Green Giant boxed veggies at $1 each.  Used 10 of the .60/3 coupons plus a $5/25 Jewel email coupon.  I actually used the $10 Brawny cat but let’s pretend I didn’t…I would then have spent $16.21 for 30 GG vegetables, or .54 each (half of the sale price).  I stayed away from the cheap stuff like corn and spinach, going for brussels sprouts and various baby vegetable medleys.  Might as well get the biggest bang for your buck, right?

Ran two more transactions, identical to earlier posts:  8 Pillsbury sweet rolls with 2 Simply CC cookies and 8 Sweet Moments and 2 cookies with the same totals, so no sense in taking another picture.  We are fully stocked here, no matter how crappy the sales get.

  1. Where the heck do you store all this stuff? I have a full size upright freezer, a fridge/freezer in basement, and huge sidekick freezer in kitchen. After stocking w easy fries, totinos, and clearance steak at dominicks 🙂 , I am out of room. Post pictures!

    • Two upright freezers and two refrigerators. One upright was called the Pub burger freezer, but that’s being rapidly depleted. I have actually thought about picking up another upright, because the way the game is changing, it’s get in, get as much as you can for cheap and get out until the next deal. No more low price cycles (as far as I can see, anyway). I still have one case of Wesson oil in the basement that I paid .50 each for…when was the last time you heard about .50 on a cat promo?

      • I’m kind of a newbie. You are awesome. But I’m not sure how you get all your coupons. I love your blog….you always make me smile. Thanks.

    • Yeah, and every time I think of August, 2009 I have to cross myself and almost genuflect. It was that special a month… And that, folks, is why I don’t believe we can continue to shop the high-low cycle way any more. Jewel has reduced/eliminated catalina promotions, removed the price spread between the sale and Preferred card price; Dominicks has stopped accepting expired coupons and only sporadically takes RRs. But on the other hand, Walmart is paying me cash to shop there.

So be nimble and ready to grab a deal when you first hear about it. So many of our best deals lately have been unexpected ones. That’s why I urge you all to follow me (and other sites) on Twitter. I have a direct feed from the blog, so as soon as I post something, you can see by the heading if it’s something in which you’re interested. If you see HOT! HOT! MM! better click.
