Spent most of the morning cooking, then eating and washing dishes (the kind that can’t go in the dishwasher, which is currently running). So. much. food!!! Turkey, stuffing, scalloped potatoes with cheese, olives, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, both asparagus and green beans in a ginger/miso glaze, cranberries with blood orange zest, roasted butternut squash. Firstborn asked about the missing salad and pumpkin pie. And yet he lives.
Even Squirmy thought we were crazy. Of course, he was pigging out on Cheez-Its, while watching us so…
I about did a spit take about the “missing salad”!? With all that food and he actually wanted a salad too! I did make a pumpkin pie….bought the rolled up crust…but I admit mine is better! We decided to have a mini meal, consisting of turkey tenderloin, taters and gravy, green beans for me and corn for him (doctored up cans) and my pie with cool whip for dessert. (I cracked open a bottle of cranberry wine!) Then after all was cleaned up and put away my neighbor brings over a huge platter of food! So much for the small meal! She had lots of different things….but still! :>)
Ask her what she plans on making for Christmas – might make things easier on the home front 🙂
