Spent all morning, into early afternoon, which kind of segued into Mickey D’s (where we got four Club chicken sandwiches, three small fries, two Big Macs and two McFlurries for about $12.
Here are some of the pictures SC took of us collecting seeds (he doubled as seed bag holder). It’s a cool thing to do (especially when it’s not a community service requirement).

So elaborate. You go to the prairie and take seeds from the flowers which I am guessing are perennials and save them for net year? That is brilliant!!! I want to do the same, can we do this at any public park district or forest preserve? TIA
It’s something called a Day of Service – PITA saw the poster at the library. The umbrella organization is called Chicago Wilderness and they have contacts in several states, so bound to be a location/park/prairie near you. They could really have used more volunteers – they do this throughout the Fall, not just on that one September 29 Day of Service. And the best part was walking through all the prairie and imagining it was 100 years ago (can’t see ANY structures in some directions) since those areas are usually off-limits to visitors.
