Family Time @ Depot Days in Lisle

Every year Lisle holds a Depot Days weekend festival to celebrate harvest and times gone by.  DH, PITA and I went yesterday.  I should note that we first did a bit of DT shopping and had a very nice Asian noodle lunch (probably not strictly in keeping with the theme).

Here’s PITA in green hair and yellow skort – the Gymboree skort I bought over 8 years ago! The front has an embroidered bee on it and a honey bee came came over to land on it!).

Here PITA and I are talking to a farmer about milk and pseudo-milk products shown on the table. I swear this jacket makes me look like a linebacker!  There was also a hand-cranked butter maker and bowl of butter lumps in buttermilk on the hay bale (like making butter isn’t the easiest thing in the world…with a KitchenAid!).  PITA realized that if she had to milk cows – we’d be eating dry cereal.

Modern technology – the saw cuts logs by itself!  Get one of these iron contraptions from the blacksmith and no more slaving over a hot stove!

You can tell these photos were taken by my husband, since not only are they in focus, he zeroed in on one thing I had never noticed in the herb section – hops!  you drank beer until you sedated right out…unnamed (5)
