Target update: I returned the clearance Renuzit, got back my 3 $3 coupons, bought 3 of the Crayola kits and walked out with $6.53 in my pocket. And believe you me I know this is illogical. Target you are so not preparing my income tax returns…
This is what happens when you shop with other people: you lose focus, end up overpaying and then have to make a return trip to customer service. At Target, I picked up 12 of the Goodlife cat food tray on a .53 clearance; used the $1/1 from 3/06r. Saw the Renuzit crystal refills on an end cap for $3, so threw five in the cart along with 3 clearance double bags reduced to $2.48 (had the $3/1 from 3/13r). Also picked up another pair of clearance jeans for $9.98, using the Target $5 coupon and what I had calculated for overage. Ended up being charged $5.29 on the three clearance Renuzit refills, which is odd because the sticker shows an original price of $4.99. Which means another trip to GET MY MONEY! So, while I paid $9.43, my actual OOP should have been $8.43 (plus tax) less. This was not the only item that we found priced differently than what scanned. Management should have a long heart-to-heart with whoever is going crazy with the clearance gun or the tv cameras are gonna roll once more…
Before I forget, I had read that Target was selling the Crayola Glow Station On the Go sets for $3.24; it’s presently selling on Amazon Crayola Glow Station On the Go Day & Night for $21.45. Don’t believe me? Check out the link. Found that hard to believe, but here’s a Target picture for proof. If you have any birthday parties coming up, this is a great way to look like a big spender for pennies.
Dominicks update: Got all my money back on the cereal and yogurt (about $18). CS scanned the card I used and my son’s name came up (as it should). Chalk this one up to atmospheric disturbances.
On to Dominicks where I wanted to pick up my Quaker Oats Squares from the $1.49 deal a few weeks ago; had a raincheck for 16. Broke it down into two transactions of 8 each and
four free Dannon Greek yogurts that are on my Just4U card; threw in a bag of bananas for the house monkey. The total, after the 8 mfr coupons and one $10 RR was $2.02; looking at the receipt at home, it shows that the cashier took off .51 for each cereal. Since the ring price was $2.71, subtract .51 and you’re paying 2.20. So now they owe me an additional .71 for each box ($5.68). The yogurt did come off. So this first order owes me $5.68 plus tax.
Next order I used my son’s card, since I had activated the yogurt on his. The yogurt did not come off, I was charged $2.20 for the cereal and the kicker? The name on the receipt shows the card owner is Maria Plut and the number is not mine… So this transaction they owe me 4.00 for the yogurt and the $5.68 for the cereal, or $9.68 plus tax and probably something extra for calling me Maria Plut. Maria, if you are reading this, I’m terribly sorry, but why aren’t you activating your coupons?
does dom’s allow you to have one card for each member of your family even if the address is the same? Thinking of signing up for a few more fresh values cards. TIA.
Good lord, how on earth are they gonna stop you? Only CVS tries to pull that crap (and notice the operative word here is TRIES). If you’re nervous, put something like Apartment 1A or 101 on the address and tie it in to a cell or work phone (if you want). If you only have one card, think of all the freebies you’re letting slip through your hands!
You got back your coupons??? How on earth do you do that? Do you just ask? Yes, I know… still wet behind the ears over here.
You have to understand that I did not plan any of this – I like deals but don’t want to commit fraud! I had purchased the items only a few hours earlier, so they were still in the register. CS pulled all the coupons from the register and returned the three Renuzit. Since it takes 24 hours for Target to process(?) those coupons, I got the full amount paid ($5.29 and tax) plus the coupons returned, which made my Crayolas completely free. We both knew it was screwy, but that’s their system. On a side note: I would NEVER attempt this just to get double money back, because it’ll probably be different tomorrow and something totally different next week.
I’m confused. Doing a return on coupon bought stuff means you are committing coupon fraud? Or is it the fact that you got the coupons back + your $ too? Should we ask for coupons back rather than money. Just trying to understand.
You don’t understand and I don’t understand. As far as I can tell, it’s not coupon fraud when they tell you to take the coupons and give you the price paid before the coupons. Believe me, I did point this out that they should give me the price after coupons, but she insisted that while it was strange, that was what the register was doing. I mean, I had the receipt showing I paid X dollars in cash. So I am not going to worry my pretty little head about crazy Target policies – after all, just think of how much they scammed us with their coupon shortage.
Not what I meant at all. Is it OK for me to return coupon bought stuff (overcharge or just dont want product) and not do coupon fraud? They take your DL info and stuff. Just want to know your expertise.
Gotcha! I haven’t personally returned anything since beginning the massive couponing, even though there have been screw ups. It hasn’t amount to much (Never more than $1-ish) and I didn’t know how any store handles it when you return things that you used coupons. My rule of thumb use to be, it had to be an item over $25 before I even stood in CS line!!! Boy oh boy did that ever change! Time is money baby! 🙂
From your post ….>> The total, after the 8 mfr coupons and one $10 RR was $2.02;
Is this a typo….. u were actually able to use RRs at Dominick’s? What? I mean, tell which one please, IMO they have better meat discount prices than Jewel. Thanks.
Yes, both for my two transactions and my friend’s one transaction, we used current RRs (actually from Tena and Reach!). This was at the 63rd Street Dominicks in Woodridge. I have always liked this store and had they continued accepting expired coupons like Western Springs (gotta head back there before the 1st to use up my wts), I would drive there more often. It’s convenient that it is next door to a Target.
Note to everyone: You can return anything at any time whether you used coupons or not. You’re forgetting that your coupons are a form of cash. That store turned in that coupon to the clearinghouse for the face value plus a handling fee. They’ve already collected it (well, if they are laggards, it’s not your problem) and you will get your full value. Unless they can return your coupon to you (and they can’t because it’s already gone), it would be fraud on their part to take your money (coupon) and not return it. I can’t think of any time they’ve tried to stick it to me (and even crazy Target wants to give me extra cash!); it’s a non-issue.
