cheap gum, no coupons – honest!

photo.JPGAs you may or may not know, I am a gumcoholic – hello, Goddess – so when I saw this possible scenario, I had to try it out…and out…and out.  And that was before I even tried the stuff!

There is a Walgreen’s in-ad coupon in this week’s ad for Wrigley’s gum for 69¢ and a 50¢ Juicy Fruit Starburst coupon in the January IVC.  Put them both together and you have 19¢ gum!  Remember, though, that this is high tax, although my total cost was only $2.40 per box of ten.  And even though the in-ad coupon says limit 3, it scans for as many as you’d like with no cashier intervention.  Actually, this whole deal was easy-peasy!

and i like it fine (well, the cherry one so far)…

  2. Was this broken up into seperate transactions? And does the cashier jkeep scanning the walgreens coupons or just once per transaction?

    • Nope, I bought boxes at different stores, but the coupons are only scanned the one time and the register takes off all the discounts automatically! easy-peasy! I really like the taste of cherry – still have to try strawberry

      • I tried to buy 10. The cashier scanned the booklet first. It took $ off but then tried to scan this weeks sale paper and it didn’t take it off. Register beeped. So I asked if I could do it again but scan the sale paper first and then the booklet. She looked at me and said well then I have to void this whole transaction. And wasn’t too pleased. :(. So I said I’m sorry, and I left. Went to another one on my way home, and tried it again and both scanned perfectly!!! Ty so much

    • Aisle, but if you don’t see it, ask. One store had it in the back room! And another had it with other brands, not Wrigley, but I have not yet found a store without any. which just jinxed me, right…

      • How very odd! I don’t remember doing it in any particular order! I picked up another four cases (40 packs) today and thinking back, I scanned the paper coupon and then the IVC (I was hoping to get an employee discount if I did the scanning!).

    • The coupon was in last week’s ad – deal is over, except that the .50 IVC will work until the end of January, but the gum is now regular price (unless there’s something I haven’t heard about).
