The days of giant shrimp cocktails for 99¢ and all you can eat buffets for pennies are long gone – in fact, buffets were closed for most of the past year, reappearing as you point, they give buffets. And even those aren’t very good deals, unless you have a prodigious appetite! Since neither Pita nor I belong to that group we looked for good food for much, much less.
Weirdly enough, one of the places was a 7-11 next to Ellis Island Casino! Had a taste for tacos and online reviews for Julio’s Tacos inside the casino were positive – – somehow those same reviews neglected to mention the place had never reopened after lockdown. Starving, I said let’s just check out the 7-11 (Pita wasn’t convinced) and we got all this food for $20! Decent salads (both lettuce & pasta varieties), Buffalo wings and an antipasto mix.

The main feed bag for us was a place inside Planet Hollywood that didn’t even have a sign outside on the Strip: Ocean One Bar and Grille, where the Lunch Menu (served 12-5) was $4.99 for everything and the lines pretty much guaranteed it would be good. Breakfast and dinner prices were slightly more, but not by much. While I think sucking down alcohol while walking under a hot sun is slightly insane, there were plenty of inebriated folks out on the sidewalks. Pita pointed out the breakfast drinkers 🙂 Definitely took many meals to-go, since our hotel had a mini-fridge and we could avoid lines.
