Desperately need to get a new phone – my iPhone is a jail broke 3G, which means I’ve never been able to update or (certainly not!) restore to original factory settings and am unable to download most of the new APPs available. Been with Tmobile for at least five years and neither FirstBorn nor I have any contracts (we share a plan).
Any suggestions for a new carrier? It must be iPhone compatible – that’s non-negotiable. I will never go to AT&T due to horrible service when they were Cellular One (just like Horton, I never forget) and have almost as much animosity towards Sprint. I had years of service from both, so it wasn’t just a flash in the pan moment with either.
I’ve read excellent things about Verizon; looks like their rates have come down.
Any suggestions (excluding “get an Android”) on customer service, dropped calls and/or spotty service in the Lisle/Downers Grove/Naperville and Lombard (IL) areas would be greatly appreciated. I’d prefer a call center where English is spoken and understood (I’ll understand if this excludes parts of the South.. kidding, but trying to inject some snark.)

all the layers of taxes-I think it was good for about a week.
I still do not have a smart phone. My plan with Verizon is only $35 per month and my contract is month to month now.My Samsung is 4 years old- they are constantly reminding me I can get a new phone.
We are HUGE verizon plans. Have had great luck with them for years.
I would use no other then verizon, tried a few over the years. Verizon does not have unlimited data plans any longer though. I actually save money now that they changed their data. I use less data then I thought I did. I use my own wireless when i am home.
Thank you so much. I thought we used a lot more data, too, but I pulled out the last bill and was surprised. I’ll probably use a lot more with a new phone so I’ll take the slightly higher data plan with the ability to increase it if necessary.
My vote is for Verizon..hands down! Fled from CellularOne years ago..they were so bad. Also, they give 18% discount to teachers, state employees, law enforcement and other major employers so be sure to check that as well!
I moved away from Verizon due to pricing. I was paying $ 55 a month for 350 minutes & 250 text messages. Adding a data plan would have made it $85.
I’m on the cheap $30 tmobile plan with unlimited tex & data but limited minutes100. The only problem is that I learned I don’t have service where my mom lives, so I’m looking for a new plan as well.
If you got your iPhone from someone you know, the phone can be unlocked through AT&T. That’s what I did and then it can go anywhere.
Looks like I’m going with the Virgin mobile month to month for $45 that someone mentioned on Mashupmom. Won’t happen until next month though as I don’t have time this month.
