This week, CVS has cans of Lindsay olives on sale as part of a 10/$10. Here is a $1 IP good on any Lindsay product. Hurry and print before it disappears! Starting Sunday the 11th, Walgreens will have Lindsay olives on sale (both can and jar) for 99¢ (with card). Free olives are good olives ’cause it’s one thing that’s always on the holiday table.

Walgreens and Black Friday…so far 11/7
Okay, I’ve added a few items to the list. While there are many available $$ items, flipping requires a certain combination and patience! The items added will allow you to throw off more RRs and reduce OOP. trust me on this. Start working your possible combinations now (hint: Each roll will be in the low $30’s before RRs).
Right now it looks like Walgreens will be THE place to shop for Black Friday deals – a complete flip from last year’s CVS promotions. However, with Walgreens, it always seems to be difficult to locate inventory! Here’s what I like so far because there are enough items for huge potential combinations of products (any of the $10 products going back and forth, or a couple lower RR products with a filler (if necessary). There are also a few coupons out there (like the HE $1/2), but buy 2 coupons actually work against us and the .25 or .30 coupons make it difficult to match up products.
Omega Smart Kids DHA (60 ct) $10 get $10 RR
Blu Science Trim Blu (60 ct) $10 get $10 RR
Supernutrition Simply One (both men’s and women’s) $10 get $10 RR
Hairsil Accelerator shampoo (4 oz) $7.99 get $8 RR
MidNite menopause chew tablet (28 ct) $7 get $7 RR
Dr. Teals epsom salt foot soak in peppermint (2 lbs) $5.99 get $6
Sheets Sleep strips (10 ct) $4.99 get $5 RR
Sheet Energy strips (10 ct) $3.99 get $4 RR
Dream Water shots $2.49 get $2.49 RR
Crest 3D (4 oz) $2.99 get $3 RR
Got2B spiking glue (6 oz) or Glued Ultra style glue (6 oz) $1.99 get $2 RR (this one bothers me because the price is so low I fear a misprint)
Herbal Essence products $2.99 get $3 RR
Cepacol Max numbing lozenge (16 ct) $3 get $3 RR
Thermacare heat wrap back L/XL $3 get $3 RR
Advil PM (4 ct) $1 get $1 RR – $1 coupon in 10/28 rp – no size restriction
Carmet sticks and tubes (& possible balms) $1 get $1 RR
Scrunci no-damage elastics (18 ct) 2/$3 get $3 RR
Listerine Pocketmist spray in Freshburst $1.99 get $1.50
Lots of Loyalty Point offers, but the only one I like is the Lumene offer – yes, you read that right, Lumene!: Buy 2 or more and get 2,000 points. Choose the cleansing wipes (25 ct) because they’re about $4.19, so .19 each after the Lumene pdf coupon and 2,000 points to use towards other “stuff.”

sad but true commentary: I used to get their sales ads as far in the future as possible; just realized I didn’t even save this week’s ad…did i miss anything?

Pert for a quarter
Got a message from a reader (thanks, Ron) about a possible deal on Pert at Walgreens. I tend to discount many of the deals I hear about because they depend on regional prices/coupons, but since I was heading out to Jewel to check on the Dole OJ situation, I decided to check on that shampoo. PSA: The Dole OJ and juice blends $2.88 less a buck when you buy five goes through 10/7 (Sunday). Plenty of time to score more 88¢ OJ (and you can always return within 60 days with your coupons and receipts). The Lisle Jewel had a LOT of that Force 3X 10 oz bagged coffee on the clearance cart marked $2. I tried a couple of the sample packs earlier this year and was not impressed – sadly, I experienced no extra jolt of caffeine.
On to Walgreens, which, I’ll freely admit, has not held much interest for me lately. I grabbed a couple of the 9/09 S2 inserts (in Chicago it had Visionworks on the cover) and ran the pictured transaction. Pert 13.5 oz size is on a monthly October sale for $1.99. There is a $1 October IVC and a $1.50/2 from the insert. Put them all together and it looks like this: Two 13.5 oz Pert = $3.98 – $2 from IVC = $1.98 – $1.50 insert coupon = 48¢ for two bottles. I ran this with four bottles and paid out $1.54, of which 58¢ was high tax (Lisle). (some communities are higher).
As this is a nationwide deal, everyone can stock up on shampoo/conditioner on the cheap. Note: The insert coupon expires 10/09.
All the news that fits…true story
I called my mother this morning and she asked if I had heard about some rewards card at Walgreens (no, she doesn’t read this site). I explained all the moves Walgreens had made over the past year or two to completely alienate their customer base. She commented that this explained why they’d suffered such large drops in sales.
Turns out that she saw the Sunday ad with hair color on sale. Had no idea what that little icon near all the pictures meant. Goes into Walgreens and gets her one box. When it rings up at full price, she says “it’s on sale in the ad.” She is asked “Do you have a Rewards card?” She obviously didn’t have one, had never heard of the program and didn’t want the card. Walked out without the hair color.
Her final words? I’ll have to start checking Jewel Osco ads now. maybe wags can take up the sales slack with flu shots
Walgreens – new coupon booklets
Walgreens web pickup
Realized I had a $5 RR that expired today (most are within the next couple of days), so decided to place a web pickup order for the Blue Diamond BOGO almonds. Stupid system wouldn’t let me take more than two of a kind – tried several stores to test – so I added two “large” bags of dog food to reach the $30 threshold to claim that $10 discount when you use promo code PICK10.
I used my library card to get that extra15% off my order, which dropped the total to $27+. Weirdly enough, the $10 still came off; said on screen $10.00 off $25 purchase. I used $16 in RRs to pay the balance and $1.82 in coin of the realm.
Maybe I’ll do this again tomorrow – this “sale” price on dog food is great! Oh, and PS, I didn’t even bother with the Blue Diamond .75/2 mfr coupons because I would have then started with the fillers, etc. and life’s too short to always count the pennies. That’s what extreme couponing allows you to say!
Wags 9/23 and other depressing items
Things are looking pretty grim at the Walgreens homestead lately – the clerks are trying to sell me on the benefits of the loyalty card! Although we’ve been promised continued RR deals (although not on the same scale), in reality, they are ending and should be totally gone by the end of October. And if you think this week’s ad sucks donkey balls, you are probably looking at the high-point until we near the holidays. I’d convert your RRs into Blue Diamond almonds, personally. kinda matches wags corporate strategy…
Having said that, I know many of you are addicted to that Indiana popcorn, which will be on sale staring the 23rd for $1.99, along with their Kettle chips and On the Border tortilla chips. Use the following IP to save a few pennies which will be all the cents you’ll find at Wags (coupon reads redeemable at, not redeemable ONLY at) … Remember, you can print two prints per computer.
