Jewel tripping & hello Wags

Picked up another eight bottles of the OJ, three boxes of the Essentials pasta (from the Fall Fun book plus a BOGO cat PITA “found”), box ‘o beer with sausage, buns, 2L Squirt (penny promo)….plus two DiGiorno pizzas (buy beer get $5 off two DiGiorno)…Saga blue cheese (sale, no coupon). Total was about $26 after coupons for cheese (4.99), pizza ($7) and beer (12.99). Since it’s going into the rebate envelope, I’m not too worried about spending so much on groceries.

Then I paid a visit to one of the Walgreens participating in the National Library Card promotion. As I told you earlier, you should take your Estroven RRs and roll them into the blood glucose meters that are on sale for $10 with a $10 RR. Normally it would be a low-tax wash, but since I’m saving 15%, I have to be creative. In this case I found four of the Wags brand glucose tablets on clearance, which, since they were Wags brand gave me 20% discount AND there is a BOGO 50% off so each meter and two bottles ended up .70 OOP. Third and fourth transactions were meters and two giant candy bars (in-ad coupon 2/$2) which gave me OOP of .47.

And no, the irony of buying blood glucose meters and giant candy bars has not escaped me.

Wags tripping

Remember – September is National Library Card Month?  My two local Walgreens are offering 15% discounts (20% on Wags brands), which while nice to get, totally screws up my numbers for the first few days…sad to complain about free money, huh?

You see here two transactions (picked up two more Estroven), eight Simply Orange (IP), three renuzit adjustables (IP), two Carmex (IP), one Ginkgo Biloba (can’t remember why i bought this – that’s a joke), one Wrigley 5 gum and the Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief.    I did not use a coupon on the toothpaste, one Carmex or the gum.  Told you I was messed up.  Paid each with one $10 RR from my P&G deal (Tide) and less than $3 of the folding green.  Got back two $10 RRs from Estoven, one $3 RR from Colgate and two $1.50 RRs  from the Carmex.  So slightly ahead of the game.

If you printed out the Simply Orange or Lemonade coupons and you’re not headed to a Wags, you can still use them at Jewel through Wednesday.  I plan to print out more and do that.

coupons.com

Once again over on coupons.com…there’s a buck coupon for Simply Orange and Simply Lemonade (two separate coupons – yeah!).  It’s currently on a 10/$10 at Jewel and also the same price at Walgreens and Dominicks.  Think it’s .99 at Meijer and Walmart, but not sure.  Print ’em both twice and enjoy the low tax freebies.

ShopAtHome – puhleez…

Today’s Wild Deal is a bag of Deerfield Farms dried fruit from Walgreens…online one buck…FREE shipping on $25+ orders…go back to bed ’cause this is a real snoozer.  They are offering 4.5% rebates on many items, so maybe I shouldn’t be so quick to judge.  Click and see if there’s anything worthwhile for your household.

Free Renuzit

Coupons.com has reset the $1/1 Renuzit coupon on the Super Odor Neutralizer.  The coupon pictures the spray, but can be used (with no beeping) on any of the Super Odor Neutralizer adjustables that are selling for a buck or less.  I would not wait on printing this because last time it reached its print limit quickly.

Walgreen’s has this on sale with in-ad coupon for .99.
Walmart has them regularly priced at .94 – which means cash back!
Target has the single packs for .85.  Your overage mileage may vary.

Shorewood Wags: Roadtrip!

PITA and I did the Shorewood road trip; I ended up wasting about two hours of Matt, the Store Manager’s time…Seriously Nice Place, Seriously Nice/Smart with Coupons Guy.  From our conversation I learned that his store had most of the items missing from Wheaton’s orders over the past six months.  I find it hard to believe that the same warehouses are involved, frankly.

I ended up taking 40 of the Estroven, using mostly $4 and $3 RRs and tax, then down to two $3 RRs, then NOTHING!!!

Ran two transactions of the Tide powder:  Spend $30 (P&G deal), get a $10 RR.  Works out like this:  5 Tide (all varieties work, although they may not be marked) of the smaller boxes on sale for $6 equals $30!!!, plus high tax.  Hand over five of the $2 Gain/Tide powder coupons (expires 8/31) and you’re at $20.  Throw in a couple of the two pocket with prong folders (6/$1 with in-ad coupon) and two of the Estroven $10 RRs.  You end up paying high tax and get back $10 or basically, two bucks a box for TIDE! woot!

btw, i seem to have seriously depleted that store’s stock of folders…you might want to look for other fillers…just sayin’

Wags – Estroven update

JUST got a call – this is ridiculous and I’m tired of posting the non-deals:  Yes, it’s true, the Wheaton Wags did not get their order of Estroven.  I just told them to switch warehouses (it’s possible) because these guys seem to be total mopes.  I also said it doesn’t matter how coupon-friendly a store is when they don’t have stock for us…might as well just change their name to CVS…

So what now?  A road trip to Shorewood, obviously.

More Dark Side Wags

Pam sent these pictures over earlier today (hey!  I’m actually remembering to read my email – applause!) of the übercoupon-friendly Walgreens in Shorewood next to Joliet/Plainfield.  The manager is actively hunting for coupon business. hmmmm  well, if Wheaton’s order doesn’t show up tomorrow (there is no indication that it will not, btw), a road trip is in my future…

Wags – September IVC

Looking through the September IVC booklet and lo and behold – they’ve brought back the online (or snail mail for Luddites) rebates!  I loved these because the rebates were automatically added to a gift card, which made deal-shopping a whole heck of a lot simpler (if you didn’t want a Cow Tale filler, use the card!).  Remember, only one rebate offer per card (hint, hint, hint).

September’s booklet shows these five offers on the back pages:

$5 when you buy $20 or more Benadryl, Visine-A, Zyrtec products.
$5 when you buy two or more Centrum, Caltrate or ProNutrients.
$3 when you buy one Luster Now! instant whitening toothpaste.
$7 when you buy $30 or more TheraBreath products.
$3 for Blue Rhino propane.

Coupons.com

Next week’s Wags (9/4) sale will include a Mitchum deod./AP sale for $2.99 with a $2RR.  There is a $1 coupon in the 8/21 S and here’s another mfr coupon listed under personal care.  Check the other coupons, since they add new ones (and reset limits) all the time (and you might as well print out three, since you’re using the paper anyway).

Looking for a way to extend your $10 Estroven RRs, that same week (94/) has a sale onNova Max Plus blood glucose monitors for $10 with a $10 RR.  Low-tax item, so great way to roll some cats.  Don’t wanna donate?  Try to sell them or open up and take the batteries…
