I had a few “free” Yucatan guacamole coupons which expire tomorrow – originally I was going to have a giveaway, but then decided I’d buy the product and donate to my food pantry. Good thing I didn’t hand them out because although they were marked FREE and had no maximum value noted anywhere, they only scanned at $5. Inasmuch as Jewel had them on sale for $5.99, this was a suck donkey balls situation and I ended up paying. But can you imagine the outrage if one of you had gone in with a few coupons for free products that weren’t? Regular shelf price is $6.49, btw. not feeling the Yucatan love right now…

Almost-free pork roast Jewel shopping
Was gonna pass on the 89¢ lb Hormel pork butt roast at Jewel, but realized I could use overage from the Revlon B1G1 50% off sale on the little eyeshadows with the $3 12/13 S coupon and and basically pay high tax. Luckily, my store was out of firestarters corn husks and offered to take $2 off so an even better deal! FirstBorn will be thrilled and PITA will be pissed. Can’t win in this house. Tomorrow will have the oven going all day, what with the roast (and leftover carnitas!), bread and baked potatoes.
And seriously, if I want tamales, I’ll drive down to 26th Street and pick up a dozen or two at $10-11 each.
.12 cinnamon @ Jewel
Several varieties of McCormick spices are on sale for a buck off this week at Jewel – the 1 oz ground cinnamon is only 99¢, so buy two and use the $1.75/2 coupon from 11/1 rp and pay 26¢ for both. Naturally, this was the week that half my papers were missing this insert! I have enough coupons to place a special order since you do not want to be wiping out your store’s shelves Thanksgiving Week! not if you want to continue shopping there…

75% off frozen shrimp @ Jewel – hurry!
The Jewel $5 Friday deal includes Aqua Star frozen raw shrimp in several varieties – but it’s ringing up as a BOGO at the register! Hurry and stock up, ’cause the normal price is $9.99 and 75% is definitely a stock up price!
Note that not all Jewels carry Aqua Star, which means they’ll substitute, but you won’t get the BOGO, so I’d call around first to find stores carrying this brand!
P&G promotion @ Jewel today
According to the sheets, the P&G promotion $5 Instant Savings started yesterday, November 2nd, so decided to try my luck. Instant $5 came off, which left me with $6.97 as a subtotal after using 3 BOGO coupons from the November P&G. Good enough if you need Pantene hair spray or mousse, I guess…
Jewel P&G Instant $5 Savings Promotion

There is a Buy $25 worth of P&G select products, get $5 instant savings promotion that started Monday, November 2 and runs through the 15th – frankly, I’m not feeling very upbeat about Jewel this week…
Although there are pages and pages of products (many more than shown in the ad), most are either items that don’t have realistic coupons ($1 or $/2 for high value items), no coupons at all or only include larger sizes (like Tide). Clairol only includes the Root Touch-up, And trust me, I’ve checked until I’m about ready for antidepressants. Unless Red Plum and/or SmartSource come through on the 8th or 15th inserts, this will not be a stockup sale. RedPlum is a no-go for the 8th…
Right now the best I can see is with the Pantene BOGO coupon from November P&G, using shampoo and a styling product (yes, they’re included). 3 shampoos @ $3.99 ($11.97) plus 3 styling products @ $4.59 ($13.77) get you over the $25 mark, then subtract $13.77 and $5 instant savings, leaving you at $6.97 plus high tax.
If you only want shampoo and conditioner, you could buy 3+3 for $23.94, add the $1.99 Gillette shave gel to get to $25.93, subtract $5 in instant savings, $11.97 for Pantene and $1 for Gillette (November P&G), leaving you at $7.96 plus high tax.
Jewel, Pepping up the Game

If I hear “there’s no pop” within the next 6 months, there’s gonna be some serious damage! Been grabbing the Natural Orville and pretending I’m only a dabbler and not a full-blown popcorn whore. One transaction included veggies and cage-free eggs and I had to actually put out $$. Don’t know if the cashier or I was more astonished.
Moneymaker pop @ Jewel with new coupon
New coupon in 10/24 SmartSource for $1/2 Orville Redenbacher popcorn boxes. Brings your $3.16 subtotal down to $2.16 even if you have no printables. With printables you will pay 16¢ plus high tax and get back a $1 OYNO!!

Jewel’s current pop promotion involves 2L bottles of pop: Buy 4 of the pictured brands and the price drops to 79¢ each plus you get two boxes of select Orville Redenbacher popcorn. This brings your total down to $3.16, but wait! Use this $1/2 7UP, Sunkist, Dr. Pepper, etc. mfr coupon and you’ll only pay $1.16 plus high tax. But wait! The TEN varieties are included and there’s a national catalina (scheduled to run until 11/29) where buying those four gives you $1 OYNO! So you’ll end up paying either 16¢ or $2.16 (without coupons), which is less than one box of popcorn!
Pop goes the kernel!!!
When you’ve clicked the coupons.com coupon link, go up to the top of the page and click the beverage category – you’ll see another $1 coupon there for the pop – twice as good!

I had a glitch the first go-round, which explains why I have two $1 cats pictured. It happens..

Last day for Gerber cat @ Jewel!
Been running around, grabbing as many of these money-makers as I can – when buying four 79¢ jars, I’ve been using the Kandoo flushable wipes on sale for $1.99 and paying 37¢ OOP. Buying four $1.19 plastic tubs only generates 24¢ in overage, so that’s one lousy string cheese, but, since that’s all low tax, I’m only paying 34¢ OOP. Weird how they charge you for being clean, but not for being fat.
