Become an Avon rep?

Avon Reps As a way to make money part-time, Avon is pretty good, ’cause let’s face it, the Jewel cash station just shut down on us.  Avon started as the California Perfume Company in 1886; it didn’t become Avon until 1939, so it’s not like it’s going to disappear any time soon.  You don’t have to put money upfront buying kits and products like other companies and you set your own schedule.  I’ve known people in the past who actually made more than they spent!

I’m posting this Avon link so anyone with any interest can check it out.  That is all…now back to deals.

Please read the comments section, as Avon has apparently made some rather widespread changes to their commission and shipping fees which would make this much less lucrative for the very small potatoes representatives.

  1. Hm, wait though, just this month they changed the game for their reps. You now only get your commission if your order (and mind you, this is an order every 2 weeks) is OVER $50. So if you have customers that just want small items (their makeup is pretty cheap!) you won’t make a dime unless your total order hits $50. AND… the big one… they started charging their reps for shipping. Now every order is a minimum of $5.95 (or 10% of the order, so it can be higher). So reps either have to eat that, or make customers unhappy by passing the charge along to them.

Again, this is going to kill reps that only have small orders. Try telling the person who just wants a the nailpolish that she now has to pay you $5.95 for you to give it to her. Sheesh.

Sorry to be a downer, but these new changes just went into effect by surprise and my sis (Avon rep) is now deactivating as one, because she can’t afford the minimums/shipping.

  2. hmmm…I would like to take this time to plug my own side business lol. But seriously…I’ve started at this MLM company called Monavie for shits and giggles and it’s been pretty dandy thus far. Thought my brother was just pulling my leg when he wanted me to join but the money is good and the product works so I have no complaints thus far. Good morning america had a segment on how direct selling is going to help lots of people gain some financial independence, so whether or not it’s Avon, direct selling is definitely worth it for people to check out.
